Lada, I must tell you how much I LOVE your UA-cam videos! I'm an "older/non-traditional/non-20-something" NP Student, and your videos have been my VitaminE's, during this rocky journey. (VitaminE = ENCOURAGEMENT!) So, know that the Lord has used you to life up, encourage, inspire, AND educate! If I'm ever back in DC, I'd love to treat you to coffee, as a thanks! :) Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I wish I could like this video a 1000 times! It is SO inspiring to see a nurse who graduated from the same school as me (Ivy Tech) make it this far! I especially love how helpful and encouraging you are! A huge concern of mine regarding grad school is the student loan issue. I don't mind paying out of pocket, however, I don't want to be in a position where I HAVE to work during the program. This video is very reassuring. Thank you, Nurse Lada! 💕💞💓💗
Nurse Lada, you are amazing and so generous in sharing thins kind of info that even some friends wouldn't share! I'll do my homework !!! Thank you again!!!
OMGOSH THE BEGINNING OF THIS VIDEO IS MEEEEE!!!!! Last week! The STRUGGSSSS!!!! HAHAHAAA! I apply for scholarships all the time!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS!!!! Bless you!
Great vid! I'm currently vlogging about my FNP school journey and I definitely have been wondering about different programs that can help repay my school loans. Just like you I don't want to be one of those people paying off school loans for the rest of their lives. Just the other day a MD on his 70th birthday celebrated finally paying off his loans! WHAT! Ain't nobody got time for that, haha. Thanks again for an awesome vlog!
i calculated how much my schooling will cost cna/lpn/rn/bsn/np or pa( not sure which one i want to have as my end goal) and it was $110,00-130,000 (depending on college/university and books) and man was i depressed for couple days.
Hello Kitty - love your name! LOL Yes, it's pricey but - sooooooo worth it. You are the reason I made this video.... there are loan repayment programs and scholarships that will wipe the slate clean for you. If you worked for a FQHC and took advantage of the loan repayment program x 5 years - $110,000 of your debt would be GONE🙌🏾
I want to go back to school to get my masters in microbiology. My loan debt now is not 100,000, but it is close enough. I'm very encourage to find scholarship programs and scholarships for biology and microbiology.
Thank you so much for putting this information out there. I am to be a new grad nurse and a few weeks with previous debt for my first degree...this will be great help! Keep on going with this great service you are providing. God bless
Thank you for posting. I'm currently in a NP program and every time I look at my loans I want to cry 😩 but I'm definitely going to apply to the Loan Repayment program when I graduate. I think the biggest struggle is finding a facility with a high enough score and whose higher Nurse Midwives in my area.
Just a FYI: I was a recipient for the HRSA scholarship and they do NOT help you find a position. They have staff to answer your questions about whether a place qualifies, but it is up to you to find the job.
Hello there. Thanks for the input. The NHSC website states: "The NHSC helps scholars find a practice site that's right for them. When in service, scholars earn a market-rate salary, paid by the employing facilty." This is information from the NHSC website. Links to all NHSC programs are in the description box for viewers to read at their leisure. Not sure if this is something new or what, but I got my information directly from the website. Maybe I will send them a message for clarification as the website states they DO find scholars a site. Thanks again for the info!
I'm going go apply for this scholarship. Currently I have almost six figure income but when I start school in the fall my income will drop down below 45 range. Do you think someone like me will have a chance with getting approval?
well, in NYC community college is completely free so long as you have a minimum of 3.0-GPA and you earn a certain amount within the bracket requirement in your job..
Your an beautiful inspiration. Just got accepted into full time DNP program. Im scared because i don’t know how In going to be able to pay let alone pay rent. Its not a good idea to work during. Classes could be held anytime from Monday to Saturday.
Haha that is a funny start to the video. My NP program classmates are starting to rethink coming back to finish the MSN portion after doing the BSN part because of loans. The NHSC is competitive. Congrats! Your look pretty with your new hairdo btw.
Hey Howie! Awww! Thank you! The loans are scary for everyone - that's all we talked about during the entire 2.5 years of graduate school😂 Yes, the NHSC program is competitive but don't forget about the NHSC scholarship program for fulltime NP students, and state loan repayment programs as well. I sat down and researched ways to repay my loans because I was really nervous about the debt too. I'm happy I went through with it. Even though these programs are competitive always take your chances and apply. Keep me posted. I love your channel btw.
Hi Lada, Thanks for the info. I know you said that everyone in your area received the funding due to high HPSA score. Do you remember what your sites score was? I'm just trying to get some perspective of what scores tend to get accepted and which ones are unlikely too. thanks.
Hi Lada! I’m still a high school student and have been interested in this program. I was wondering how you get money for food and other daily expenses like that. Do they pay you a salary like a job along with the loan repayment? Overall it seems like a great program and I’m definitely going to look into it! Thanks for the great video!
Great video! I wonder... Does the NHSC only help pay for graduate programs? I’m about to start a post-bachelor absn program at Emory and wonder if i could still apply for this. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Lada, Thank you so much for investing in other nurses and making your amazing videos. I will be graduating from my FNP program in May 2019. I received an email that the 2018 NHSC loan replayment program is now open and accepting applications. Do I need to wait until 2019 to apply or should I apply now? Thank you for your help! Have an amazing day!
Hello Keondra! There is a Nurse Corps Loan Repayment program for Registered Nurses which may be perfect for you. They will pay 60% of your nursing debt for a 2 year contract and if you continue for a third year they will pay an additional 25%. I am working on a video about this for registered nurses. I "think" the deadline was in February, so you may have to wait until the application cycle re-opens. bhw.hrsa.gov/loansscholarships/nursecorps/lrp
Is this video on the way because I looked into it and I'm sitting in a mountain of paperwork and it has so many holes like Swiss cheese!!! So many questions little to no answers please help
I am an FNP, waiting to take my boards. I just missed the application deadline after watching ur video. I will assume i have to have my boards first? Which is more in demand? Psych NP or FNP? Is the hourly or yearly salary worth it, apart from the scholarship or loan repayment i'd have to pay back?
Ktech2018 Elisha: Good afternoon. You need to have your license and a job at a Federally qualified health center first. As far as “demand” it depends on where you live. In the D. C. area (where I live) there is a great need for psych nurse practitioners, but there is also a great need for FNP’s as well. My salary has increased significantly as a nurse practitioner - the loan repayment was “additional” so it was most definitely worth it for me. Good luck on your boards.
I have kind of a question I’ve been hesitant to ask lol. Was your job that you worked for the loan repayment horrible? The only sites that are approved in my area seem to have tons of complaints, and also are in very, very bad parts of the city. This doesn’t scare me off, but I’m just wondering if it’s worth it to be miserable for two years.
hi I am intrested in the profession and I have a dismissed criminal record NON CONVICTION and I will see about sealing it do u think it will prevent me from a nurse practitioner licence or employment
Hello Dairon, the best thing to do would be to speak with a counselor... you want to make sure the non conviction won't count against you. Best of luck to you. Please keep me posted.
This video is very helpful. I am in my 2nd year of NP school and was starting to worry about student loans. Can you be a recipient of the scholarship and the loan repayment?
One specific question, regarding the NHSC scholarships: are recipients of the NHSC scholarships MORE LIKELY to be awarded the NHSC Loan Repayment Program??? Or, do you have equal chance of receiving the NHSC Loan Repayment, whether or not you were enrolled in the NHSC Scholarship program??? Thanks for your knowledge!!! :)
Hello! Great question. Each program has different criteria. For the loan repayment more emphasis is placed on HPSA scores and for the scholarship I think they look at the entire picture - your essay, letters of reference, cost of the program, are you from a disadvantaged background.... etc. Hope his helps 😘
I think the hospital I currently work at is a qualifying hospital for the scholarship. I went to the scholarship site & tried to look up the HPSA for my hospital but it's all a little confusing to navigate. I'm not sure what I'm looking at or what I am looking for to make sure it a qualifying facility. HELP! Do you have a direct link that will take me straight to where I can find out if my hospital qualifies or is there a list I can print out that lists all the qualifying hospitals & clinics in my area? Btw I live in the Los Angeles area. TIA.
Hello, this is great information thank you for sharing! Does anyone know if you can receive the Nurse Corps Scholarship repayment if you already have a contract for with the Nurse Corps Scholarship program?
Thank you so much for this video! I really want to work w/ the medically disadvantaged, but it does not appear the NHSC has an area here in North Texas close to my home. I'll check w/ our country health department to see if they offer any kind of tuition assistance.
lv u......dear.,... i am from Bangladesh ...Im 2nd yr student of Diploma in nursing science and midwifery ....I want to do the bsc with a scholarship and want to get a job as a senior staff nurse in us....so what should i do for this ...pls make a video on this.....😊😊

Nurse Lada Was your first job as a new grad with the a FQHC? I have my profile updated and having been connecting to several jobs but no one has reached out to me yet. I have sent followup emails to the places I have connected to in hopes that it would put a spotlight on my profile that is on the HRSA Connector. Any suggestions for landing a job with a FQHC facility?

Hello Gatlinerika. No, you would need to choose one : )
Nurse Lada Thanks so much. I was literally sitting up in bed last night thinking about how I could tackle these student loans. This helps alot.
After you finish your contract for the scholarship you can apply to the loan repayment program

Now a day. Honestly. Work as a regular nurse for 2 years (1 year..your pushing it) become a travel nurse and make that money in 1 year.
Hi I'm in a junior in high school. When should I start applying to nursing school and how can I avoid a waiting list ??
Hello, this is great information thank you for sharing! Does anyone know if you can receive the Nurse Corps Scholarship repayment if you already have a contract for with the Nurse Corps Scholarship program?
