Grouper Alley - Caneiro dos Meros

On the tiny island of Corvo in the Azores, a group of fishermen came together to create Portugal’s first voluntary marine reserve to protect a beloved group of enormous dusky grouper. Today, thanks to a quarter century of protection, Caneiro dos Meros or “Grouper Alley,” as it’s known is one of the best places in the world to have close encounters with these giant creatures - some weighing more than 30kg.
