Even on his way out the door Gary showed up and played it pretty one last time, I remember hearing the news I cried...thank you for the lifetime of service Gary , you're greatly missed
Amen, the one true Last Rebel and Genuine Simple Man. I'm honestly going to miss seeing that man up on stage. He wasn't a crazy acting jump around kind of player, but anytime he was playing, his sound was unmistakable, just absolutely perfection every note he picked, Gary was such a one of a kind man and player. To alot of people he may have just been another guitarist but to us real fans myself included he was more than that. Gary Rossington was just a beyond words awesome player and came up with several of the most well known guitar riffs and slide playing in history. Rest Easy SimpleMan, I know your up on that big beautiful golden stage up in heaven playing Bernice at Ronnie's side just as you should be. Keep playing it pretty for heaven and all of us fans here on earth and we will all see you again oneday
i was considering doing the same, from sacramento wouldve been my last 700 dollars, my gut kept telling me just go, glad somebody else got to experience history
@@diegogardner6218 yeah he hadn’t been playing that great for quite a few years but for the whole farewell tour he had gotten much better! I think only playing a few shows/a few songs really helped!
@@RockFan98 right, I didn't specify how soon but I can honestly say his last non sloppy performance was in Irvine, CA in August 2019, I went to his Wheatland concert in October 19,2019 n he sounded a bit of of tune but still played like he wasn't sick, but since he lost weight I could tell he was dying
Gary Rossington's original 1959 LesPaul he named Bernice is in the rock and roll hall of fame still in Cleveland, Ohio right beside Duane Allmans 59 les paul.
Sorry, spell check got me. Bernice got the neck broke off, got repaired, and I thought it was stolen. Not sure if it was recovered but if it was I hope it’s in the Hall of Fame.

I did several times in the early 70s even have a close up black and white picture I took from about ten feet from the stage.....

“Bernice” was his main Les Paul. If I recall, the got broke off of it, reposted, then it got stolen. He named it after his mom.
