Oh hi Mike sorry for the late reply, great comment my friend and your spot on, I have trouble with the subwoofer and usually have it turned off, I think personally if my 115 went fucked and I couldn’t fix it I would probably get a MROO2GZ radio instead, anyway thanks for watching and commenting 🤟🤟

Oh hi Thomas hope you are well, yes you can totally run the radio of the mains with the adhaptor, and yes it's pretty loud ,in a workshop or work site I'd say you wouldnt have the volume past half way on the dial or you wouldn't be able to hear yourself think!!, then again my ears are knackered from 35 years in the building trade so I might have to turn it up some, so yes plug it in to save the batterys and rock out!!! 🤘🤘

Just got the new one today after many years of service from my old fm Makita radio . Will be curious to see how the new one lasts my old one was bullet proof and was left out in all weather and kept working .
Oh hi friend you might have to be a tad friendly with your new radio, not sure it’s quite as bomb proof as the older models, hope you get plenty of good use out of it tho I use mine most days, cheers sir 🤟🤟
@@UKTOOLTALK not complaining Jon, they look good it's just we don't do radio or live TV anymore. With the aid of your reviews we have just ordered a Dremel (£163) for a little trimming job on our bungalow's gutter, a DJR 189 Reciprocating Saw with box (£188) for jobs where the chainsaws, circular saw and hand saw won't do 🤔 and a DHR243 with box, dust extractor, charger and 2 x 5.0ah batteries (£388) for projects around the home/garden. Oh wow my friend you have made my month!!!, it makes my daft videos worth while with awesome feedback like this!!!, you are one of the true stars of my channel I tell theee!!, iv always said that’s an independent review of a product is the best way to get a good or bad opinion of a certain tool, I stand by all my reviews and although I am a makita fan boy if the tool has faults or is just plain crap I’ll say, if the channel is linked to a online shop or connected in some way to the company selling the tool I steer well clear of the review, it’s quite funny that over the 3 years on UA-cam I bet iv done reviews of makita products that have resulted in sales ie good folks like you and have made makita thousands but when I contacted them to see about a colab they pretty much told me to F off!!! Oh well I’ll keep on reviewing stuff and hopefully you will carry on watching 🤟🤟
Gutted that I never knew I could store the charge lead in the back. My current radio has a faulty tune knob so am getting tempted to upgrade. Thanks for the fun review.
Cheers sir glad you liked the video, it was great fun making it and I still can't believe how many views iv had!! Totally nuts!!! Thanks for commenting your a star ⭐, oh there is 2 more videos about the radio if your interested 🤘
Great review. I was looking at getting the 115 but wasn't sure whether to just get the older model and use a BT adapter. From the reviews it seems the 115 doesn't last too long? How are you getting on with it now?
Thanks for commenting sir, to be honest I don’t use it that much anymore,it’s a good bit of kit but I don’t listen to the radio much anymore,I can’t find a station I like and the commercial stations have to many adverts!!, mainly I use my makita Bluetooth speaker and Spotify, this radio is ok but the base speaker doesn’t work properly and it’s heavy on battery usage and in my opinion it’s to expensive,Im actually thinking of selling it to be honest or keeping it for my workshop and getting the latest xgt radio (I think it also runs of lxt)I think it’s called the mr003g, to tell the truth iv gone off the flashyness of the 115 and don’t like how it looks or performs and the mr003 looks like the older model makita radios which I really dig, they are so iconic I want that look now and they look more rugged, I know it seems like iv changed my mind about the 115, I really need to do another video about it,I’d love to tell you get such and such makita radio instead of the 115 but I have to buy makita stuff to review and can’t afford to buy a few different models to review and compare, there is probably a few other you tubers reviewing the latest radios so maybe check them out or if your interested in the makita Bluetooth speaker iv done a review of that, cheers buddy 🤟🤟
Great comparison mate! I didn't even realise you could fit the power source in the back of the old one!!! One of my biggest annoyances with makita they always seem to go backwards with their new products. Fucking whyyyy 🤦♂️
dont know if you guys cares but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the new movies and series on Instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother for the last couple of days :)
Thank you sir, its been mad how many people have watched this video!! I'm super stoked, don't forget to check out some of my other crazy videos, cheers Jon.
Oh hi Matt thanks for reaching out, the sound is better and seems crisper, the base speaker at the bottom can be a bit annoying sound wise and I usually have it turned off, what iv found is on a noisy site or if you have background noise you can’t really hear the difference and my ears are fucked from 36 years of powertools, I think I’d give the radio 7 out of ten to be honest, iv lived with it for over a year or so and I love it but I think they should have kept it more simple and more like the older models, mainly I just use the makita Bluetooth speaker theses days because I can’t find a radio station I like, radio 6 has gone to shit and I can’t stand all the adverts on commercial radio stations so mainly I just Spotify my tunes over to the speaker, iv reviewed the makita Bluetooth speaker on my channel if you fancy a look, just go on my playlists look for all things makita and scroll down,oh and do I think the dmr 115 is worth the extra £40? Mmmm probably not, the dmr 106 is also a really good radio and you can get a new one for £110 or get one of eBay for under a hundred, hope this hasn’t confused you,I need to do another update video really to go into it more🤟🤟
Hi Brian, thanks for watching, your a star for watching my silly videos!!!,hope you get to watch some of my other videos on my channel, I know my makita radio review video has the most views by a long long way but theres dozens and dozens of videos on my channel that are better!!! (In my humble opinion of course) Even got some Christmas specials!!! All the best to you and your family and merry Christmas 🤘
Oh hi Steven thanks for watching and commenting your a gent, watch out for a video coming up on the makita bluetooth speaker iv just bought, I'm well impressed with it 🤘🤘
Hi Chris hope your keeping out of trouble! What are you like!!!, great question dude you win a medal 🎖️, well I'll tell you the truth firstly in regards the radios robustness I tend to keep all my work gear in good order so it's still in really good shape, yes the ally bars on the front have scratched up a bit but apart from that everything is tip top, I love her, well apart from the base speaker on the bottom which in my opinion was a design mistake, its trippy but even with its faults and its form over function design I feel like it's a underdog and misunderstood and I love a underdog, this might explain my love of seabiscuit maybe?, so in summary I love my radio buuuut would I recommend it someone else mmmmm I'm not sure 🤘🤘
@@UKTOOLTALK Cheers for the great review and reply also. I ended up buying one today after work because my old DAB is playing up and also looking worse for wear. I am a bricklayer and often working in crap outdoor conditions, so not sure in a year or more mine will only have light scratching haha. The other model lasted me over 5 years, so if this one does the same I won't complain. I will be wrapping it in cotton wool for a few weeks like happens with most new tools.
Oh hi dude the sound is definitely better in my opinion, louder definitely!! The base speaker is sketchy tho, I have that one turned off, it's a real shame about that but it doesn't work right!!!, I'm from punk rock roots so I guess I can live without a base speaker!! Thanks for watching and commenting sir, oh don't forget theres 2 more videos on my channel about the radio, cheers 🤘🤘
Just got the dm115 to replace my old radio same as here, it's louder sounds better, has adjustable equaliser ,( you can't turn the base speaker off) blue tooth is great and isn't quiet like some gadgets are, it's also Bluetooth 2 so watching you tube on phone and the sounds in sync with video, which wasn't the case before, really pleased . If you are turning volume up high , better to switch loudness button off and adjust tone accordingly, brilliant.
Oh hi Richard hope you are doing OK, did I tell you iv had my covid jab yesterday, I feel like shit today!! Thanks for commenting dude your a star, stoked your enjoying your new radio and thanks for the awesome advice 🤘🤘
Why doesn't makita make a plug-in radio that charges batteries too? Instead I have to pack in a radio *and* a charger. Not to mention, that thing is huge for what little it does.
Oh hi Andre hope you are well and keeping out of trouble, well!! Very good question!, the answer is yes and no regarding a makita radio which charges battery's, there is one and its called the xrm10, buuuuuut you can't seem to buy one, atleast in the UK, this radio did sort of get released in june/July and iv seen an American review of it but even on ebay there are no sellers selling this particular radio, it sounds like a great radio and a great idea!, not the kind of thing I'd be interested in tho, iv got a twin charger for my battery's and I like moving my radio about to where on site I'm working, in regards the size of the radio, yes I guess it is on the big size but playing devil's advocate they have to fit the speakers and the compartment for the battery and all the electrics, I kind of like the size and look of a makita radio, it's bad ass and iconic!!, you can go on any site in the world and you will see a makita radio!!!!, you know what friend you have got me thinking about the mains adapter which does not fit in the battery compartment!! Maybe I could take the radio apart and fit it inside the radio some where!!!!! I'm going to look into it, cheers for watching and commenting, your a super star 🤘🤘
Hi friend bit of a strange one this, a while ago makita sort of released this radio but they are like rocking horse shit or hens teeth, never actually seen one for sale in the UK,the x files part of my head thinks there must be a problem with how it works and makita have pulled it, maybe they are working on it, maybe not, personally for me I wouldn't get one if there was one available, let's say I'm on site the charging area for battery's is usually not where I'm working so yes I could charge one battery but not listen to hardcore punk rock and annoy the other trades, I guess there might be a place in time for it to be a handy option buuut not for me, now if makita made a radio with more powerful speakers and a way to link said speakers to another radio so I could blast out hardcore punk rock at spinal tap levels of volume I'd get it!!! Rock on 🤘🤘🎸
Oh hi Tim hope all is cool with you, thanks for watching and commenting,if you check out the second or third uploaded video on my channel iv done a modification on my radio in regards the mains plug!!, yes I sure wish they had kept the old crome bars on the new radio, iv been looking on ebay for broken makita radios I could buy cheap and take the bars off and fit to my new radio!!! 🤘🤘
Oh hi Justin hope you are well, since iv got a makita Bluetooth speaker 6 months ago iv hardly used this radio, it just sits in the van gathering dust, the reasons are I can’t find a radio station I really like ie I used to like 6 music (I hope your in the uk or you won’t know what I’m talking about) but it’s gone crap over recent years, there is a couple of commercial radio stations that are ok ie planet rock, classic rock or radio x but the fucking adverts and the djs do my head in so iv been mainly streaming Spotify onto my makita Bluetooth speaker,it’s over half the weight and size of the radio and I think sounds better, that said when I’m working with other work colleagues iv got to play the game and put on some tunes that everyone likes so then I put on the radio, the other thing with the radio is still the distortion on the base speaker which is annoying!, iv taken to putting it on the classical setting on the equillizer setting button to stop it sounding shit, so it’s a mixed bag really I still kinda like it and use it but not all the time 🤟🤟
@@UKTOOLTALK thanks for the reply, is your Bluetooth speaker DMR203? I’m in Melbourne Australia and have a fairly good selection of digital radio..maybe a good side by side video of the Bluetooth speaker vs Radio is in order?
Wow that’s a great idea sir I’m all over this!!, ua-cam.com/video/6ye4qaRqQLU/v-deo.html here’s the video of the Bluetooth speaker if you haven’t seen it, cheers lad 🤟🤟
Oooooo that’s a good idea my friend, I was going to do another video when I get a new makita radio preferably the mr003, I’m over this radio!! I want rid 🤟🤟
Oh hi Victor hope you and your family are well, yes I can be a bit rough with my tools, I work hard and my tools have to work hard also!!, check out my review of the makita bluetooth speaker as well when you have a minute, cheers for watching and commenting sir 🤘🤘
I bought the new Makita radio with the subwoofer, and will be returning it. Compared to a DMR107 (for example) its literal dogshit. The bass driver starts to distort way too early, sounds 100% like clipping, but to eliminate any doubt regarding the driver itself, I replaced it with a Dayton 105 4" driver, that works wonderfully with another amp. Guess what, distorts just as bad as with the original driver, so Makita knew the pos amp they put there will clip like stupid and advise you in the manual to turn it down. Basically I say fuck this, I have all sorts of bluetooth and non bluetooth speakers and subwoofer, from the mere JBL Charge 2 to Sundown Audio 8" subs in the car, a pretty good twin driver sub at home using 2x10" Peerless drivers and a DIY bluetooth speaker with Altec Lansing drivers and generic ebay bluetooth amp board (this came out sounding better than even the JBL Boombox) and none of those has any noticeable clipping, they will bottom out the driver and still not clip, so imagine what junk the Makita had put in it. Had a DMR101 and 107 before, they were capable of much more power and clean clipping free sound. Im so disapointed. Will return it and buy the old style radio with factory bluetooth.
Hi Peter thanks for your interesting and informative comment, this is what's great about having a UA-cam channel, people discussing pros and cons about products, this radio is really expensive and folks need to know what it's like before they buy, I hope viewers read the comments as well as watch the video, like iv said before I'm no radio expert and just did the video for a bit of crac and bants really, its weird that this video has done so well when there must be maybe 80 other videos on my channel that I feel are tons better with hardly any views, in regards what I think about the radio I still love it and wouldnt dream of selling it even tho there is a few big and small issues with it, anyway I tip my cap to you good sir 🤘🤘
@@UKTOOLTALK just received the same radio mate not tried on site yet let’s hope for the best with it though as it sure as hell ain’t cheap , you too mate vids are a great
Hi makita radio fans, just had a rad message of maj juntez, it doesn't show up on the comments feed so here it is. If you plug the battery in the new one on the top you can easily store the charger because you can plug 2 battery's at the same time you moron. Well I think we've got a modern day sherlock Holmes on our hands!! Well done sir your right but I do have a little get out of jail free card!!. If you put a 10.8v or a 12v makita battery in the top battery connector yes you can just get the back compartment to shut, buuuut you can only get the small battery's in and they will have to be the 10.8 or 12v platform battery's which aren't as common and as widely used, anyway I doth my cap to you my friend, anyway you have made my day by delivering me my first moron and as recognition of that you are awarded a special prize 🏆🎉🥇 my email address is nixonator508@gmail.com, just email me your name and address and I'll get it in the post. Thanks for watching dude 🤘
It's not a charger man just a power source 😂 and yes that is a big issue for people who work out of their work vehicles. I've already lost mine 2 months in 😂
Oh shit is that what I said! I'm always getting my words all screwed up on my videos, I knew it was just a power source grrrrrrr thanks for the fact check and for watching dude, rock on🤘
I don't think the power adapter was ever designed to go into the back, the lower section was space for the older ni-ca batteries which the new one is not compatible with. Disappointing I didn't get to hear some sound of sound comparison
I got the 115 and I'm not very impressed by it. I work outdoors and the sound doesn't carry very far, meaning the volume is always at max. This disstords the woofer when bass heavy music is played, like EDM, Hiphop or even modern popsongs. I had to lower the bass almost all the way. DAB reception seems very poor, but since this the only DAB radio I ever owned I can't compare. Would I buy this radio again? No fucking way. My coworkers €50 radio from Aldi performed just as well if not better and that's just a single speaker radio.
Fair play my friend, its great getting loads of different options, take this gentleman's advice on board and we will be sailing a happy ship before we know it "rock on" 🤘
Hi friend in regards your question yes I could get a boom box (love the name is it the same as a getto blaster? I remember those) the thing is these radios can and will take horrendous abuse, that's what these radios are famous for!!!, I'm thinking of doing a photography art piece featuring loads of pictures of makita radios in various states of disrepair, man iv seen some totally trashed ones which still work!!!!, so a normal boom box wouldnt last 5 minutes on a building site with all the rough builders and dust and water, so the makita radio on sites and in work areas is the king and long may it reign!!!!!, thanks for watching sir, rock on 🤘
Cheers Chris, I'm a plumber, 34 years in, I much prefer putting pipes in than cutting in, I haven't got a steady enough hand, the line ends up looking like the North Sea, I'm not bad at painting over spiders tho so it's a kind of swings and roundabout sort of deal 🤘
Just a plumber, water doesn't blow up!!! Then again there was a leak at my mums and It came through the ceiling and bubbled the woodchip ceiling paper (aaaar woodchip wallpaper!! The 1970's!!) iv got to get it stuck back up, thanks for reminding me dude 🤘
Hello sir thanks for watching, you can be dead rough with these radios, there pretty much bomb proof!!! That's why they are the top radios for the building trades!!! Love your profile pic! Is that you dude? 🤘
Building trade 34 years, its actually toned down a bit I can be alot worse, good point tho, to those who don't like it, it can spoil things so it's a big question whether to tone down the language and not offend some people or carry on, I'm going to try and tone down the building trade side of me because yes it can come across as being crude, thanks for the input friend, its a new journey I'm on and I'm learning so much so quickly and it's a bit confusing, hope you get to watch some of my other videos on my you tube channel, there are some without swearing I think, cheers Jon.
This is how all reviews should be like ! Nice one bud 👍

@Nickolas Bowen yup, have been watching on Instaflixxer for since december myself :)
@@nickolasbowen4036 what about if you're not stoned? Does it still work?
This review cracked me up
Thank you sir, its been mad how many people have watched this video!! I'm super stoked, don't forget to check out some of my other crazy videos, cheers Jon.
Buddy 1st Great Review I'm just about to buy! Is the sound that much better??? Compare to the model Ur selling I have the same The DM 104, out of ten?
Mmmm probably not, the dmr 106 is also a really good radio and you can get a new one for £110 or get one of eBay for under a hundred, hope this hasn’t confused you,I need to do another update video really to go into it more🤟🤟
Please never stop being yourself. Top bloke.
Good review. Thanks. I might buy the previous model
Check out part 2 of my review dude.
Made me laugh mate hahaha, love how pissed you got when the charger didnt fit in the back. 🤣
Thanks mate and thanks for subscribing 🤘 random is rad!
This guy needs to do this on QVC channel. Brilliant, honest, earthy review👍🏻. Top f*#king lad.
Oh hi Andy good to hear from you, cheers for the kind words sir you have made my day 🤘🤘
Good video and says it like it is…..and fwiw, I’ve got the old style and I didn’t know you could keep the mains psu in the back…..but I do now! 👍
Oh hi Steven thanks for watching and commenting your a gent, watch out for a video coming up on the makita bluetooth speaker iv just bought, I'm well impressed with it 🤘🤘
Do you play them lol I want to here the radio on the radio review
Yes what a guy! Great review

Your a comedian Jon. Cheers for the review fella. ;-)
Oh hi Billy Ynwa!, well it's very kind of you calling me a comedian, not sure about that but glad it gave you a giggle, cheers for watching 🤘🤘
Entertaining video and I have one of these radios I love it good base sound with rock and dance music

Useful video, none of the standard spec bull
Thank you sir hope you consider subscribing if I might be so bold.
Can you play signal 1 on it
Thanks for the dandy review. I’ll most likely buy the new model now. Cheers 🍻
Sir you are welcome, in fact your more than welcome, I always knew you were one of the good guys 🤘🤘🤘
I have the 109 and my power adapter won't fit in the back. Although the 104 looks identical.
Sorry to hear that my friend, thanks for watching and commenting, your a super star 🌟🌟
...and the worst part. The jeezless thing still can't charge a battery after countless iterations. Fuck me
What is the score with the radio nearly a year on?. Definitely does not look as robust as the old DAB
How's the sound compared to the new one vs old one? I have the the older one then yours but would like Bluetooth.
@@UKTOOLTALK they are coming soon dmr300 and dmr301
Rock on 🤘🤘🎸
Complete fuck up again makita can’t store plug, and took the cool stainless bars off ,good review man🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮☘️
Oh hi Tim hope all is cool with you, thanks for watching and commenting,if you check out the second or third uploaded video on my channel iv done a modification on my radio in regards the mains plug!!, yes I sure wish they had kept the old crome bars on the new radio, iv been looking on ebay for broken makita radios I could buy cheap and take the bars off and fit to my new radio!!! 🤘🤘
2 years on - how is it?
2 year review update please!
Oooooo that’s a good idea my friend, I was going to do another video when I get a new makita radio preferably the mr003, I’m over this radio!! I want rid 🤟🤟
Class video 🤣🤣
Oh thank you kind sir, a star for you 🌟, your keeping my dream alive 1 view and comment at a time 🤘🤘
Good review. This guy needs rugged stuff.
I have an older one that has the round port that takes ryodi batters
Hello there young man 🤔mmmm very interesting, is it a makita radio that works with ryobi battery's? Very strange, tell me more! 🤘
Who buys a site radio for plug in capabilities anyway 🤣
Exactly Michael! Well said sir! Thanks for watching and commenting 🤟🤟
@@UKTOOLTALK just received the same radio mate not tried on site yet let’s hope for the best with it though as it sure as hell ain’t cheap , you too mate vids are a great
Great comparison
Thank you sir.
The arial lol
Doesn't fit, complete f$%#ing fail.lol Real talk, say it how it is. Great side by side comparison. Nice one!
Oh hello disco biscuit how the hell are you?!?!?, cheers for watching my daft video!, you are a true gent 🤘🤘
Makes a review on radio and no comments about the sound quality complaints about the charger that nobody uses 😒
Thanks for the constructive criticism, well played sir.
It's not a charger man just a power source 😂
and yes that is a big issue for people who work out of their work vehicles. I've already lost mine 2 months in 😂
Oh shit is that what I said! I'm always getting my words all screwed up on my videos, I knew it was just a power source grrrrrrr thanks for the fact check and for watching dude, rock on🤘
@@UKTOOLTALK nah you didn't say that, but this guy did ^
I don't think the power adapter was ever designed to go into the back, the lower section was space for the older ni-ca batteries which the new one is not compatible with. Disappointing I didn't get to hear some sound of sound comparison
Cheers mate, have subscribed for some reason lol
Thank you sir.
Fair play my friend, its great getting loads of different options, take this gentleman's advice on board and we will be sailing a happy ship before we know it "rock on" 🤘
When I Bluetooth music off phone. Its to much bass. Is there a settings to reduce it. Threw instructions away. Proper shite
Just what you want when working in someone's house,,bass speaker directly on the floor 🤦🏻♂️ the old one was shit sound and the new one is too
Oh hi rhys thanks for the comment, well said sir you are one of the good guys, thanks for watching 🤘🤘
Thx M8 🙏
Your more than welcome my friend, in fact your very welcome 🤘🤘🤘
Why not just get a boombox?
Hi friend in regards your question yes I could get a boom box (love the name is it the same as a getto blaster? I remember those) the thing is these radios can and will take horrendous abuse, that's what these radios are famous for!!!, I'm thinking of doing a photography art piece featuring loads of pictures of makita radios in various states of disrepair, man iv seen some totally trashed ones which still work!!!!, so a normal boom box wouldnt last 5 minutes on a building site with all the rough builders and dust and water, so the makita radio on sites and in work areas is the king and long may it reign!!!!!, thanks for watching sir, rock on 🤘
You must be a painter, you have painters mentality, just saying.
@@UKTOOLTALK Plumber or gas engineer ?
Just a plumber, water doesn't blow up!!! Then again there was a leak at my mums and It came through the ceiling and bubbled the woodchip ceiling paper (aaaar woodchip wallpaper!! The 1970's!!) iv got to get it stuck back up, thanks for reminding me dude 🤘
Great review! 👏
Thank you sir 🤘
New makita shitt
Straight to the point! I like your style!
Calm down youll breake it
Hello sir thanks for watching, you can be dead rough with these radios, there pretty much bomb proof!!! That's why they are the top radios for the building trades!!! Love your profile pic! Is that you dude? 🤘
Love the swearing but why
Building trade 34 years, its actually toned down a bit I can be alot worse, good point tho, to those who don't like it, it can spoil things so it's a big question whether to tone down the language and not offend some people or carry on, I'm going to try and tone down the building trade side of me because yes it can come across as being crude, thanks for the input friend, its a new journey I'm on and I'm learning so much so quickly and it's a bit confusing, hope you get to watch some of my other videos on my you tube channel, there are some without swearing I think, cheers Jon.
Good review brother . Can you do a sound comparison?
Good idea dude, there is an issue with the bass speaker, cheers Jon.
Part 2 of my makita radio review is live on my UA-cam channel now.
both junk,

Hi my friend, love your comment!!, straight to the point!!! 🤘🤘
So you review the radio but you didn’t actually turn it on. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer are you
Never have been friend, watch the second video for a bit off sound review, thanks for watching anyway sir.
Pointless review 😴
