    Your title “A flapper and her gun c 1920.” Is actually a photo of Betty Lou Gerson, who was an actress and provided the voice for Cruella de Ville in Disney’s original 101 Dalmatians. Her clothes and hair style are from the late 40’s or 50’s.

    0:38 The subject is not a flapper, those were from the '20s and they didn't dress like that. This is clearly a 1950, perhaps 1955 photograph. The outfit and hair reflect the development of hair spray and rayon material. The next picture, of a woman on a chair, is more 1920s. I can tell because of her shoes but it is possible it is from the 1930s. The next picture was taken in 1931. George "Knockout" Brown is listed by the Library of Congress and this picture was taken between 1910 to 1915.

      Hahaha well, short hair + no beard nor mustache might have not been Freddie's best look choice, but there is no way such a wonderful person could compare to such a lousy one in any way! Unfortunately, nowadays here in Italy there are some people who celebrate and admire Mussolini. It's clearly because they weren't actually there when he was in power. Nor were I of course, but this is the purpose of history and memory-making. I was lucky enough to get to read my grandma's books and notes from primary school (mid 1930s) and I can't begin to explain what kind of hateful bullish* they would shove down children's throats.

      Re that one, I can find no mention of an Alice Granville outside of this photo. There is a well-known _Bonita_ Granville. And I can find no mention of Schultz having an Alice Granville as a wife, and no mention of Schultz shooting a wife.

    • @conniewilkinson9347
      @conniewilkinson9347 3 роки тому +5

      @@KingRundzap The real Bonita Granville was mostly a child actress (she played Nancy Drew is 3-4 films at one point) in several Oscar winning films who was married to Jack Wrather, a film producer, until his death in 1984. They married in 1947 and he was her only husband. But, yes, like you I can find no ACTRESS Alice Granville. Just a reference to a 'mob moll' calling herself Alice Granville who was married to one of Dutch Schultz's lieutenants, Pete Donahue. Her being shot happened during a shooting at a NY nightclub in 1931. Back then it was common for newspaper reporters/editors to sensationalize their reporting to sell newspapers so they were not only probably repeating her assertion that she was an actress but she's also supposed to have said that he did it to 'prove his affections." But your guess is as good as mine as to whether that comment was actually from her or the reporter. And whose 'affections' was he supposed to be gaining? Hers or Schultz's? Just so you know, actress Bonita Granville would have been only about 8 years old in 1931.
