Brand new cards are usually stiff and slippery. Here's a few things you can do to break them in and condition your deck so that they are better for handling. The goal is to turn the stiff slickness into a soft smoothness.

I'm a beginner, about to learn the riffle shuffle. Cards are very stiff, so i look for a video to break them in, maybe that helps. First thing in the video "do 10-20 riffle shuffles"... ... ...ok, i'll try :D
Curious if you kept it up lol
@@realtaiter3991 lol honestly i just recently got sorta decent at riffle shuffling and now this guy is telling me to do the fan, ferro and card spring
*sees him riffle a brand new deck out of the box*
Me: Oh that looks easy, lemme try it too!
*cards resist bending at all costs and in the end fly away to escape the pain* ;_;
Warren Grímsdóttir just takes practice
That was funny
watches video how to do a bridge shuffle, comments say if using a new deck you should break it in first. i go to this video where the method of breaking in a deck of cards is a bridge shuffle... i can't even.
The sound of the shuffles are satisfying
I was just thinking the same thing haha
Very soothing to listen to the cards shuffling.
Oh thank god for this video! For the life of me I had NO idea how to open a deck of cards!! MAGIC!
I'm really enjoying the sounds in this video xD
Search 'ASMR'
+Chen Boi yes I know, I have it, I have known about it for a few years
however this time the noises are not tingly, they are hilarious. Frrrrrrt brrrrrrrtsh XD
I see. Well is it just me that finds Asad's voice super relaxing?
+Chen Boi nope I agree *that* is where the asmr comes in xD
Good sound advice. I like your card mat. Here's my contribution: You will notice that the 2 Jokers in Bicycle decks are different. One colour and one B/W. So I always open 2 packs at a time and switch one of the jokers round so each pack has 2 identical jokers. This is very useful for some effects I do. Also it means you have time to break in the second deck before the first one becomes too floppy and worn out. Merry Xmas!
Great idea, thanks
Buy gold, 2 identical jokers
im 6 years late lmao, but most deck of cards these days(or all the ones ive seen) have 2 identical jokers in them.
this video just feels like a way for this guy to flex his card shuffling
The sounds of the riffle shuffles reminded me of the beginning of the song Money by Pink Floyd.
Fan'tastic guide. Thanks for sharing.
Trying to do the magician shuffle but my cards are harder than bricks.
u keep jokers in your pack!! ...then you are 54 kards not 52 !🤔
Bs ala
Does it matter tho?
@@jonahmordhaim2705 it`s cause of his name
I always keep the jokers in my pack
Nice tips cheers. I just learned the springs and all the stuff you said, and I got the bicycle black tiger deck. Which is awesome, and it was hard as a brick at first. But now after a couple of days it is getting better and better. Cheers
Bro i have a plastic card and now they are hard as brick they are not even bending so that i can do rifflieshuffle can you tell what to do
@@sheelarai4041 did you ever get it?
Aw great, so all I need to break in a new deck of cards is a minimum 40 hours of card shuffling experience.
40 hours pfft try 1 month
Lol 40? Try 160 buddy
Could you make a video going over the different routines you do? That would be really interesting to watch.
UA-cam is amazing in that it gives awesome practitioners an audience ! This is great.
Jesus christ that's the cleanest bridge of a new set of cards I've seen my entire life
*Why is this the one video that helps me to riffle shuffle!?!?*
I can't even do a riffle shuffle with new cards 😂
Please make a tutorial of riffle fan
i need more help getting the cellophane off, HOW DO I DO IT?!?!?!
You can slip a scissor or a knife in and cut it off if you’re really having trouble
The fact that it took you a WHOLE MINUTE to open the cards: NEEEEXT!
Just when I thought I had seen people bitch about everything, here you go surprising me!
Congratulations, you have bitched about the most ridiculous thing ever. 👍👍
Thats a really sick spring!
To be quite honest, I thought this was a setup to a surprise magic trick at the very end
This guy changed meh life❤️
I also recommend LePaul Spreads and Pressure Fans
+Christian Campbell IF, springs will wreck your cards "if you don't know how to properly do them".
same with the pressure and le paul.
nono, the lepaul is a weaker horizontal spring, if you're going to argue that the spring is okay, then the le paul is obviously fine. If the le paul is going to wreck your cards then so is the spring.
You may have a case with the pressure fan, but only if you're willing to separate it from the le paul.
+Christian Campbell You have no clue what you're talking about.
Christian Campbell I don't think so pal...
For the whole video I was waiting for the kicker at the end where you say "the strange thing Is when I use this technique the cards... *spreads on table face up* end up in new deck order"
Would have been awesome!
If I could riffle shuffle the new deck like that, I wouldn't need to break them in. They separate in clumps of 10-15 cards per side.
Hey Asad, could you please make a tutorial on the riffle fan? :)
+Trafalgar Law (Traffy) You can find the tutorial of the riffle fan on theory11's website, it is thought by Dimitri Arleri
+MTL x CARDISTRY it is insane that he is selling such a simple trick/flourish..
Simple or not, it is his move and he has the right to do what he wants with it. You don't pay for the difficulty of the move you pay to support the hard work that was put behind it.
Thanks for the helpful tutorial!!!
what a beast
QUESTION: Don't the oils in the hands play a large part in eliminating the slipperinesspart? Lastly: Are you a big believer in powdering the deck before using? Many Thanks!
and at the end of this they are worn out, so you throw them away and open a new pack
How to get broke FAST
Bro you are sick with those cards!
Good vid, although the clean, reliably straight cut of a sharp knife blade seems preferable to me than chancing it with one's thumbnail, especially if the tuck box is going to be kept and used. There is something inelegant, I think, about a jagged, gnarly-looking tear of the seal, which often happens.
I love 52kards I preform some of his tricks on my channel
go for you. you have many for more decks. i don't many for one
thnx from THE Netherlands
+Dave lim stil eens 😂😂
Quick question. How often do you change your deck of cards? How do you know you can no longer use the current ones?
Respect
Sound is almost unreal. Anyway i think i am cool with learning from you.
@52Kards May you do a video of all your books and which ones are your favorites
im getting by deck tomorrow thanks
Great info - very similar to Lee Asher's tutorial
Always love your videos!: )
pretty nice
Hi, those riffle shuffles are perfect, I have been practicing that shuffle for some time now, brought a few variations of cards, Bicycle, Tally-Ho, arcane, Monarchs and Madson Rounders but no matter what cards I use, new, used, cheap, expensive the bottom say 10 to 15 cards always come of in one clump. I am getting very frustrated as I have been trying for some months now, every video I watch, people make it look easy. Do you have any tips please.
after 7 years, are you better?
@@wodroow Yeah, i did get better but not been practicing for awhile now, need to get back into it.
@@wodroow im wonderign the same thing
I looked this up because my tarot cards are a combination of slippy and sticking together. This was completely unusuable to me since tarot cards are way bigger amd stiffer and mine are silver gildet. Yet i watched in awe xD I had no idea there was a card trick community on YT
why does my deck is not made out of plastic and it in vey hard to shuffle
My cards have too much friction and aren't slick enough it's impossible to spread them or really do anything
Thanks
My new bicycle deck is sticky. It's so hard to do the fanning. What should i do?
I find it very hard to Faro cards unless they have been very well broken-in -- a process which seems to take days. I've got a Lo Scarabeo deck that I've been working on for the better part of a week and they still don't Faro. :(
why can't i do the riffle shuffle with my new deck of cards
this was already on the website
Just got a new bicycle dekc, they are too stiff I can hardly bend the deck to do a simple riffle shuffle
Does anyone know what material his magic pad is made up of? I know its from Dan and Dave, but I can't tell if its suede or velvet
Thanks...
How do you do the bridge on the faro shuffle? That was sick!
The reason I looked for this video was literally because of the way these cards escape my riffle shuffle and I am unable to bridge them... first thing suggested is doing a riffle shuffle with a bridge... so i guess I will never break them in.
does breaking into a deck also means you'll loose its slipperyness too?
Great advice, thanks! Quick question: for the faro shuffles, do they have to be perfect (like each card interweaved, or exactly 26 cards in each half)?
Nah doesn't need to be perfect
52Kards Ok, thanks!
thanks
What is the name of your close up pad? Its really cool and I'd like to have one
i cant bend the cards when im doing the riffle shuffle
Is the new course by Felix going to be taught in the left handed form? Because i saw he holds his deck in the right and one of the course modules is titled "A note for right handed people"
my middle joints hurts so much trying to do a riffle shuffle
Something about opening a new pack of cards is satisfing
Sir which country r u frm 52 kards?Bangladesh?
My card got bended after the riffle shuffles!
Havat That's the point
Ahmed Tune
i’m pretty sure they’re supposed to get bendy, not bent.
Mine are too stiff I cant do the riffle shuffle
the riffle shuffle is hard, it hurts my index fingers when i try to do it when they are new
I have yet to figure out how to spring or fan!
Yo
I recently got pack of these decks and for life of me I can't get them to bend like that:( And yeah they so slipperly even placing them on table they want to slide around like Micheal Jackson. Feels impossibe for me:(
I tried riffle shuffling the pack of cards but in the end I couldn't fan nicely. I guess my fan isnt good enough
Thanks bro finally got my deck broke in
Question - after using a new-ish deck for a while, I tend to get that permanent "bend," where the cards "click" back and forth from one curvature to the other...any solutions to get your deck "un-clicked?"
How long do your decks last before they get clumpy and stick together?
+52Kards do you know where I can get the card mat in your video?
do i need plastic cards to do these kinds of shuffles, cause im struggleing with a paper pack
it also seems to be smaller
I like 52Kards
gambit has a youtube page....cool
Hey could you do Book review?
I just got some really good plastic cards AND U CANT EVEN RIFLE SHUFFLE THEM WITHOUT IT FALLING EVERYWHERE
what is that mat? where did you get it?
How can i straghten the cards if the cards are bent by riffle shuffle?
What about plastic cards. I recently bought a deck of Bicycle Prestige cards and they're super slippery and don't fan well. (I am a beginner to cardistry but it's really hard to learn anything when your cards won't stay together
Alexander Acevedo prestige is awesome they don't sell them in Canada but they are still awesome
where did you get that portable table top?
Get brand new deck of cards > Do flourishes to use properly > to learn how to do flourishes
Rinse and repeat
Hmmm so do this for about 8 months to a year….I thought this was supposed to be a faster version 🤷🏽♀️
i have problems with bridge
+Nicolas Gabriel search 7 easy card tricks to shuffle the cards like a pro
Roope Karjalainen itel on bridget kans ja niit tuli vaa sekoteltuu sun muuta nii ne pehmeni aika nopeesti
Mathematically speaking you need to rifle shuffle your cards 5 times to shuffle them completely
Before you break it in preform the peroulet
At 0:20 he tells us, "the first thing we need to do is to remove the selethen" - as if we need to know this!
Redblade *Cellophane
nice
What's that green thing the guy is doing some stuff on?
It's a card mat/close-up pad
How can you riffle shuffle new cards
Stiff cards are easier to deal with than slippery ones
Hey, quick question, My red Bicycle Rider Back deck has a black Ace of Spades and the text "Rider Back Playing Cards" on the cover instead of the blue Ace and the "Standart" text. Is that a different deck or just a regional reprint of the box? I'm from Switzerland btw.
+Antharion SF
Apparently Rider Back cards are higher quality. Otherwise the same.
The deck you have is the same deck that was printed before the shift in corporate headquarters from cincinnati Ohio to Erlinger Kentucky. Your box has the back design on it and "Rider back" actually written on it.
They're great cards. Same as the ones in the video, if not a little better due to the older decks having a better printing process.
