- Hello! This is the Introduction to my current project in which I design and build a DIY version of the Dyson Lightcycle/CSYS task light. Can we make one for less than $600?
This is the first in a series of build logs which will document the process. In the next video we'll design and assemble the motion system!

Love how you not only made straightforward goals, but published them publicly to hold you accountable! Well done.
By chance your PCB Video got recommended by UA-cam under one of JSK koubous videos, and I have to admit, this is very unexpected and its awesome. Thank you so much for this very well made documentary, im here for the project, and i will try to build it aswell ^^.
I was obsessed with this lamp in my teen years
Wonderful project... thank you for sharing
Also building one ☝Great series! Thanks for posting ❤
After your video I checked out the original Dyson lam and now I’m in love with this. I’m gonna make it this year. 😅
I love the idea and I want to recreate it, looking forward to further videos!
Thanks for checking it out! Updates are coming very soon :)
Really love the videos, amazing quality, novel and insightful DIY mind-mapping/process driven approach. Atleast in the context of content creators i have hardly seen someone be so thorough on their time allocation and prioritization in a project. Very professinoal, and a breath of fresh air.
As for the movement of the lamp, the carriage is really nice so i understand the reverse engineering incentive, but realistically speaking if you DIY it getting linear guide rails is a no-brainer. Especially with the pogo-wire design of late.
Raycast just sent me here from their newsletter and I'm obsessed. Definitely subscribed and praying to the algo gods that they bring me back to follow along.
Hey cool! Hope you're enjoying the series. Also... how can I see this newsletter?
thanks
Too cool! I'm hoping the final iteration is affordable for an average maker.
I'm hoping so too! Thanks for checking out the project, stay tuned for more!
It’s really cool
Maybe i can make one too
I hope so! Thanks for watching
$600 for a light??!??!?!?!
Can you find a ready to use version that has all these features? I couldn’t. The next best thing I’ve found is the VariLum 30W lamp for $200. The high CRI, brightness and continuous control is very under appreciated in an all in one product with little to no competition.
@@battery_wattage Can you stop licking their boots please
@@c.s.7474 really!?!?! Is that what you think of someone just trying to look for high quality feature rich desk lighting? Have you even looked yourself? Unless there is a company I don’t know of that makes what I’m looking for, I haven’t found any that isn’t a Dyson or VariLum. This high end desk lamp market is very niche with little options and little competition which gives these companies excuses to charge extra.
@@battery_wattage ain't reading all that, bootlicker
Hi Steven, I wrote you a long email with ideas for the project, but then realized that I can't find a way to contact you other than via the UA-cam comments. Do you have any kind of email, contact form, Instagram account or really any other way to get in touch with you?
Hello Mr. Bennett
I recently stumbled upon your channel and project, and I must admit that your project has ignited this "design flame" within me.
If it is not too much trouble, I would like to communicate with you via email and ask you some questions.
Deeply appreciate your time and effort 🦾
