    I cannot thank you enough for this video! I'm a woman in my late 50's, we're harvesting our two pigs this weekend. My husband is physically limited in what he can do (recently lost all toes on his right foot due to diabetes), so a lot falls on my shoulders. I was able to build this tripod today, but I used the all thread with an 18 inch linked chain and a couple of quick links to hang from the all thread rod. I didn't realize how big this would be, but I am very pleased! I used a ¾ inch paddle bit instead of an auger bit, and while it took a while longer to punch through, it worked a charm. Thank you!

      That’s awesome!!! Sounds like a great adaptation. I ended up buying a cheap electric winch to use install of the chain hoist. So glad it worked well for you!!!

      Please do!!! I would get a cheap winch from harbor freight instead of using the chain hoist. Hang a pulley from the top and use the winch cable to hoist them.

      @@HisWayHomestead thank you 🙏🏽 thank you 🙏🏽 thank you 🙏🏽 ☺️ I will sure do. My hogs are little. Won’t get more than 250; if I wait that long. They are best at 150 lbs. they’re American Guinea Hogs. That tripod and wench will make a much easier job out of it. I like how you have everything ready for that day lol

    I've lifted engines back in the day with a tripod with uprights half that size, so I'm sure you're good to go.

    Nice work. Think you could hang a small breed cow, Dexters - about 550 lbs, from that without breaking the legs? Thanks

      @HisWayHomestead  Рік тому

      It could handle the weight, not sure about the height.

    What is the point of cutting that edge before putting the bolts? Does not make any sense

    • @HisWayHomestead
      @HisWayHomestead  Місяць тому +1

      @@edest4321 it allows the legs to spread out and still be bolted fairly tight. If not, you’d have to bend the bolt in order for it to spread out.
