im glad im not the only one that doesn't like this ponytail style...its just really ugly to me...but yes the stylist did a great job...i just don't like the style itself
So cool! I've never heard of this style, but when I saw it listed I became very interested. I'm glad I did! It's a very cute style and you explained & demonstrated each step clearly. I like that! Thanks for sharing!
I am a Caucasian female and have a TOTALLY different type of hair than all the women in your videos. But I am obsessed LOL I can’t stop watching!!! You work magic and they ALL have beautiful hair omg
This reminds me of a blanket stitch braid, just more locked in by the knotting. I used to use the blanket stitch to install my sister's faux locs on her mohawk.
I'm a 90s baby, we used to do this as kids. We did it with lanyard, and it was called the Chinese Staircase. You done started something now, bc imma start doing Cobras, Boxes, Double Butterflies, and Triple Barrels on my hair. And today I got time lol
? is there any way you could do the braid -ladder-knots down both sides. I can't wait to try this on my granddaughter. your work is beautiful. I would really like to see your fish tail. also. again magnificent job and explained very well.
That's a nice take on the Chinese ladder. It's like you merged this traditional/cultural style with fashion history in North America. Cool😊 Very sleek, zsuh-zsy💟
Your videos are very therapeutic to me. End result makes me sooo happy, weird huh? But i want more videos please, i love to see this style on a kinky texture..
nicoleshekhtman thats because she actually acknowledging where the hairstyle is from, not changing to name into "long staircase" or whatever, or like when people call bantu knots "mini buns" now that would be cultural appropriation .
I actually love this, just the way you did the braid and added the hair.. But I'm deffinetly gonna try the whole thing. Thanks for sharing this with us..
Oh yes gimp bracelets. My mom use to buy me so many kits and we'd make bracelets all day long. Forgot about those. Was great mother daughter time and made sweet memories for the both of us.
I don't get how it went from the extension hair that got wrapped upwards to all the hair flowing out of the elastic band. Can somebody please explain or give a link to another vid that shows the end of that part? Like what happened from 2:42 to 2:48.
Just drinking coffee and trolling UA-cam. Saw this video. That is so beautiful. You side this is some ponytail my way so this is your twist on an idea and it is wonderful. Thanks for posting your video and best wishes to you .
I love this look, it’s super cute and clean and neat! When I was little the Chinese ladder braid was one of my favorite gimp/friendship bracelet designs.
I like that you put the full name of the ponytail, so we know where the hairstyle originated from. Unlike some people that just like to appropriate Black people hairstlyes, taking away credit from where it's due. But it's very cute😍
In NYC we call it lanyard and we also call that particular style the "Chinese staircase " as well. I never heard of it being called gimp, or boondoggle, or string. Wow that's amazing.
Old school! I remember being in cosmetology school in the 90s and all ponytails were hair pinned in! And they stayed in until we were ready to take them out!
is it me? Or what happened to the backward braids she started off with? I saw the ponytail and then she turned it into a braid. then the clip fast forward to her ponytail holder again
Her hair looked so dam healthy. Like wow.
Really cute! I guess I've been under a rock because this is my first time seeing one of these ponytails lol.
LongHairPrettyNails me too😂😂😂
LongHairPrettyNails ikr,me 2
I was thinking the same thing 😂
Me too 😕😂

yaja ok! Ha haaaaaaa!
The same way she put it in would be the same way to take it out
Cut it, cut it. Like the song goes BUT CAREFULLY. lol
yaja You just take it out the same was. Unravel it.
I was thinking the same thing! My hair is way too curly and thick to ever get that out of.
Sooo proud every time I see a Sista doing her thing. Congratulations on your success.
CeeC Vee, I totally agree. BLACKWOMEN/GIRLS ROCK💯

I’m a Chinese and never knew we had this hair style, but hey, I’m pleasantly surprised.
Im pleasantly surprised you're watching this black girl channel
Trisha Eusebe there is nothing wrong with watching a black channel to watch hair videos
It's just the name of the ponytail, please don't be offended. It's called Chinese ladder not "Chinese wear this".
Theresa Marriott it’s alright, thanks for your explanation tho😊
Deeper than hair is a Beauty channel not a Black channel. Let's stop putting people in a box... tht they never said . Okkkkkurrrr..
I just really don't like these ponytails for some reason, but you slayed her hair though👌🏾
i agree with you. she did a great job
Right she did ,your pretty would your mind checking out my channel and giving a sub ❤
thanks SO much!
im glad im not the only one that doesn't like this ponytail style...its just really ugly to me...but yes the stylist did a great job...i just don't like the style itself
Nope don't like the style but I appreciate this beautician showing a style that I know in the South we not wearing yet
This is cute! Its not something that everyone is wearing, which I like and a good conversation starter.
Dank calm

I agree a silk press is nice-especially hers, but variety is nice too.

I used to stay making Chinese Ladder bracelets with the Lanyard.
This ponytail looks very nice.
I am a Caucasian female and have a TOTALLY different type of hair than all the women in your videos. But I am obsessed LOL I can’t stop watching!!! You work magic and they ALL have beautiful hair omg
Very nice Chinese ladder ponytail. I’ve never heard of this type of ponytail either. 😂
This reminds me of a blanket stitch braid, just more locked in by the knotting. I used to use the blanket stitch to install my sister's faux locs on her mohawk.

😍 Loving the pony. Btw in Arkansas we called that "string" even though it was plastic, I've never heard of gimp so that's interesting too
Yep Ga girl here and that's what I know it as string!! Amazing how our culture is though.
Lol even though she used a different word, I knew what she meant. Upstate new York called it lanyard...I used to love playing with it! 😁
Amber Williams .com
Yea we just called it string in FL....i loved it!!
Amber Williams we called it lanyard in NYC
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ this ponytail is EVERTHING! 💖💖💖That's the snake pattern when we did it with sting during the summer...I love it!!!👌
This remind me of making key chains
? is there any way you could do the braid -ladder-knots down both sides. I can't wait to try this on my granddaughter.
your work is beautiful. I would really like to see your fish tail. also.

That's a nice take on the Chinese ladder. It's like you merged this traditional/cultural style with fashion history in North America. Cool😊 Very sleek, zsuh-zsy💟
Omg I have never seen this in all of my 44 year!! I love it and want to find someone to do my hair this way. Love it. Thanks for sharing
Cute. Def reminds me of making keychains back in the day!
I used to watch old martial Arts movies and some of the Asian men wore that exact hairstyle.
I've never seen this before...it looks fantastic! Blessings and continued success xxx
Fay Samuel A fellow Grenadian!!

Yesss the stringgg staircase box circle butterfly ...they need to bring it back 😍😍😍
Your videos are very therapeutic to me. End result makes me sooo happy, weird huh? But i want more videos please, i love to see this style on a kinky texture..

Nieyshia went bald trying a perm
I love this look so much 🙌💝 and excellent work as always 👍
The beat even had me wanting to stay lol
This is great
Scrolled down expecting to see nothing but comments about cultural appropriation, was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful job on her hair too
nicoleshekhtman Thank you!
nicoleshekhtman thats because she actually acknowledging where the hairstyle is from, not changing to name into "long staircase" or whatever, or like when people call bantu knots "mini buns" now that would be cultural appropriation .
This actually look like something I could do! Your video was really easy to follow. Thank you!
You snapped 😍 curly hair at the end would have been so cute
Loving this tutorial from the beginning to the end!
Girl you hooked her head up. I am loving this look.
I crochet so it's interesting to see a single crochet (sc) used that way. That's awesome.
Never heard of a game called gimp. This style is very nice. I remember seeing this style in old Chinese movies
That was genius wrapping up the braid, to have a thinner base! Great Video my sister, God Bless you, amen!
Chinese staircase boondoggle back in the day....cute
Raquel Johnson I’m so glad to see somebody finally call it what it really is called lmfao as long as I’ve known, it’s been boondoggles
Ahh...gimp. Always needed someone else to start it for me cause I didn't know how. 😭😭
gigglyfitzgirl wow you are everywhere 😲
gigglyfitzgirl
I see you everywhere
gigglyfitzgirl 😂 seriously
Yesssssssss and once they got it started I was good to go🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
First thing i thought of!😂
Very editorial. Looks bomb.
There is something so peaceful about watching hair videos
Beautiful, but biggest fear with hair & thread all the same color, how do you take it down ?
This is a beautiful braid! I could never do that with my hair but you sure do make it look easy!!
I actually love this, just the way you did the braid and added the hair.. But I'm deffinetly gonna try the whole thing. Thanks for sharing this with us..
I only have one negative about your videos, there too short lol
i love the fact that their short
That's positive tbh
aderline johnson they're* for both of you
+ shaela s. Thank you!!!!smh
Shamicka White *they’re
Oh yes gimp bracelets. My mom use to buy me so many kits and we'd make bracelets all day long. Forgot about those. Was great mother daughter time and made sweet memories for the both of us.
She slays each and err hairstyle!!!
I don't get how it went from the extension hair that got wrapped upwards to all the hair flowing out of the elastic band. Can somebody please explain or give a link to another vid that shows the end of that part? Like what happened from 2:42 to 2:48.
Oh that is so cool! I love how you're so attentive to detail - you are incredibly gifted...
Perfect!!!how much it cost this hairstyle please?
The music made me fall asleep and then you woke me up by talking 😂
Just drinking coffee and trolling UA-cam. Saw this video. That is so beautiful. You side this is some ponytail my way so this is your twist on an idea and it is wonderful. Thanks for posting your video and best wishes to you .
I love this look, it’s super cute and clean and neat!
When I was little the Chinese ladder braid was one of my favorite gimp/friendship bracelet designs.
Love this!!! What type of hair did you use?
A beautiful style. Your explanation was clear and thorough. Thank you.
THAT IS SOOO FREAKING UNIQUE AND CUTE😍😍😍
Holy crap! You are so darn talented!! I LOVED playing with gimp back in the day.
I never had that much hair on my head my entire life. Beautiful.
This is exactly the same knotting method I used when making friendship bracelets as a child.
Once again, THE QUEEN HAS SLAYED......
Loved the video hun! What would you recommend for dry over-processed hair?
I would have liked it better had it not been wrapped so many times at the top. The braiding should have started higher.
Livingboldlynfierce Well when you do your video you have something to strive for 👌🏾
Livingboldlynfierce ...it can be styled higher if u like.
Your hands have been blessed by the best! I love watching you do hair! But I have a question is your shop still in Philly or is it now in LA?
This is SO cute. Can you do this without the added hair, if your hair is long enough for it?
I love your voice...don't judge me😂😂
MsNoStankYou me too 🙋🏽 lol #nojudgementzone
Same it's relaxing🙂
I have never seen this ponytail before. What inch hair did you use?
I love the short quotes on every video at the beginning ❤
This is really cute!!! Only question is how do you take it out??
Britty C just unravel it
Definitely reminds me of Gimp from my childhood!
That's what it reminds me of too! Lol the staircase
Wow that's amazing.
oooh yeah can you braid it with silk strands? and ornaments
this video would not leave my feed! I love your work and apparently the universe thinks I absolutely need to know how to do this pony tail
Her natural hair is everything😍😍😍😍😍😍
As soon as you made the first knot I was like GIMP!
Looks really cool. I used to have hair for stuff like this. Now the sides and back of my head are shaved with dread licks on top.
I Really like this it is Dope! I miss my aunt professionally doing my hair straight and the smell of all those sprays😅
Sometimes I just go back and binge watch these videos
That's really cute. Super sleek and sharp.
Yes i did use gemi # summer camp tryying this style when i take my braids out
I LOVE GIMP!!! i still do it with my sister during the summer
You've got the major "spider medicine" with hair, you amazing weaver woman of beauty & skill!! So gorgeous!
Wow! Never seen this ponytail. Beautiful.
oooooo!!!! i remember doing this with friendship bracelets. Is that the gimp you were referring to? might be different name for same technique.
Omg I haven't hear about gimp in FOREVER!!...LOL. Yes!!! that's exactly how you do gimp...lmao too funny!! And this hairstyle is so cute!!!
Never seen this technique. really beautiful!!👍👍👍
I have never seen this style before. Looks nice💗

Kee 💜 You are so good at what you do, l love the music too.
Love You 💜🙋🏻♀️
Love waking up to inspiration! Thank you for this video 🤓
Oooo can you try this as an High ponytail then show us ? 💖
How would you ever get that out?! It's so beautiful but i wouldn't know even where to begin to get it out
hayes572 just unravel it
Always wanted to do a chunky version of this across the top of the hair as a mohawk
So natural looking. I love it!
I never saw this braid before. Is this something new. Cute but looks complicated on how to remove it
What is gimp? Is that like the lanyards we made at camp?
