    This reminds me of a blanket stitch braid, just more locked in by the knotting. I used to use the blanket stitch to install my sister's faux locs on her mohawk.

    I'm a 90s baby, we used to do this as kids. We did it with lanyard, and it was called the Chinese Staircase. You done started something now, bc imma start doing Cobras, Boxes, Double Butterflies, and Triple Barrels on my hair. And today I got time lol
