An Easy Exercise to Get a Photographic Memory

  • 99% of the people out there don’t have photographic memory.
    Or do they?
That may not sound like a promising statistic… but here’s what most people don’t understand. You DO NOT have to be BORN with a photographic memory in order to have incredible memory skills! In fact, some of the most incredible “memory masters” in the world are SELF TAUGHT.
I know people who use to forget where they put their keys every day who can now memorize the order of 32 decks of randomly shuffled cards in an hour!
Imagine having THAT kind of skill under your belt. Can you think of any areas in your life where insane memory skills could be useful? You’d be the one in the office who remembered anything and everything important… you’d be the go-to! Or you’d be the mom that never forgot to pick up her kids from soccer or who never forgot doctor's and dentist appointments.
I think ANYONE could benefit from a better memory.

Yeah dude i know this was 2 years ago, but you already probably have a photographic memory, but your memory only has a percentage unlocked to you photographic memory. Like me i took a test and i have 25-50% photographic memory, i can remember an image then tell alot of details like what that person was wearing or style of walking, but for a very short period of time like 2 days. The people that you see, have something called 100% photographic memory, where they can remember things i do and 10x more, along with more period duration like 6 months or even years. You can actually develop that unlocking more of it but, some people just born with it.

I once bought a memory course that included these techniques. It helped but because I did not constantly practice these techniques I have lost the ability. When my daughter was about 11 she had a school assignment to memorize the names of all the US presidents and which number they were. It was at the same time that I was taking this course, so I sat with her in her bedroom for about 2 or 3 hours and, just as this guy used your house to help you remember, we used our house to memorize the presidents. The house is very familiar and linear, and the trick is to virtually walk through the house and, at each piece of furniture (or anything - window, door, appliance...) connect something you are remembering to that item with a wild and crazy image (for example, Curious George is Washing a Ton - maybe a 2,000 lb weight - in the washing machine). After 2 or 3 hours my daughter knew all of the presidents, forward and backwards, and could tell what number they were. I could ask, "Who was the 18th president?" and she would know. She retained that memory for weeks or months, but it eventually disappeared with non-use, but still it is a good trick.

I'd like to add a few additional tips. Meditate daily, maintain a clean and calm mind/body, get physically active and do exercises like this to better access your subconscious mind. Everything we experience is stored in our subconscious. The more we connect our conscious mind to our subconscious mind the more we remember. Eventually one could in theory develop a fully conscious mind and thus could attain a photographic memory. I imagine this would take years of discipline but I'm certain it's within us. We humans are so remarkable! Another good exercise is to revisit past memories in you minds eye.

      I certify this is true.
I have always experienced problems memorizing; people names, places' name, dates, events.
5 years ago I had enough, and started on a quest to understand why am I not able to remember. There are many factors, to name few: lack of energy, lack of focus, busy mind, lack of interest and motivation.
I got energy through exercising at least 4 days a week, gym, jogging, swimming, etc..., then paid attention to my diet, and having enough good sleep.
I got focus through meditation, prayers, and journaling as well. You must have YOU time, at least 10 mins a day, every day, to clear your mind for the clutters.
I got interest and motivation by the benefits and results this will have in my life.
And most of all, you need be think long term, never quit, trust the process.

This will only help you remember things you isolate and want to remember. It is not photographic it is associative memory. People who have a really good photographic memory have videotaped their entire lives and can rewind to a point and describe what they are seeing, some points are usually missing. Some people do it in still frame snapshots. And how far back in time varies. Most people, the vast majority, see snapshots that are partly what they see and partly what they fill in with their subconscious, which is subject to their personality, and so create inaccurate snapshots, which they lose quickly and just retain the memory of the emotions they had at the moment, which is based as much on the inaccuracies as it is the actual factual observations. If they need to recreate it, they will work backward from that, from their emotional state in the moment, and recreate facts that justify their feeling, instead of just what they actually physically saw. ... Happens all the time. People have no Honor, they are ruled by their egos.
    Peace

Hyperthymesia, or highly superior autobiographical memory (HSAM), presents several downsides including overwhelming recall leading to emotional strain, difficulty focusing on the present due to excessive preoccupation with past memories, the potential for intrusive and distressing memories, challenges in relating to others who lack similar recall abilities, and the risk of rumination hindering personal growth and problem-solving in the present.

When I was little I used to recite bedtime stories my parents read to me right after. While my memory isn’t as crazy anymore, I get good grades on any tests involving memory. I memorized the periodic table and the first 100 digits of pi. I am a lot better at memorization tasks than random details in a school lesson though, so I still have to study.

I’m better at memorising random details and focal points of lessons despite zoning out for 80% of my classes. All As on my report card except for Chinese or any subject taught in Chinese. If I consider it important, then I’ll hang on to it, if I don’t really wanna do it, then I probably won’t remember what I just ate lol.
