My apartment building built in the 70's is all electric? lol. I mean those panels and all that are good and much better than here, but most buildings in the PNW are all electric
You can’t make an omelette without cracking some eggs. Yes, this is not perfect by a long shot, but we’ll be able to learn from it and build better next time, and the time after that. Perfection is the enemy of progress.
This is great! Oregon loves to boast that its a green state then does so little to actually implement lowering the carbon footprint. This is a step in the right direction! Been working in green energy myself the last 5 years.
those panels at best provide 10-20% of the building electrical needs...without tracking the sun those panels are at best 50% efficient for 1-2 hours while the sun is hitting the sweet spot... I love solar but dont play it off as this is a game changer...dont get me started how efficiency drops when panels get dusty/dirty...I hope this building has a maintenance service for these panels...." some resident might not have an electrical bill" WHAT!? where is the solar energy being stored lithium is cheap

Also good point about the dust/dirt, it rarely ever rains in Oregon, so the panels on the roof will get dusty pretty quick! Though they didn't mention the storage in the video, I'm assuming they have either grid supported energy storage, (Basically a buy back program which makes you money) or they have storage within the building.
What the hell are you talking about? Section 8 is an extremely specific, very limited program that has been closed for years for new applicants. Do you mean low income or subsidized housing?
Note, lowest operating carbon footprint. Not lowest cost for occupants. Just wait for the next power outage.

15 minute start up city. Dont fall for these.
Lowest carbon footprint based on fudged creative carbon accounting. Enjoy your ever rising PGE rates.
How many gangs will it house?

That many solar panels produce alot of electricity man.
I would not move there. What will happen when the power goes out during an ice storm. I guess it will be section 8 for low income.

More net zero b.s.
Waste of money
As long as the taxpayer is on the hook for paying for it and that makes it okay.
The units are likely unaffordable for most like almost all properties are in the State. Who’s moving in?
