Unfortunately as nostalgic as the older nfs games were, it just seems like they can’t find their place in the car gaming community, its a circus of a franchise that can’t stick with the times
The drift system on Juiced 2 was great. A skiddy surface so the cars were very very drifty, but in normal racing the physics were not like that at all. To be honest the normal physics were crap but they had the right idea.
I know this comment was a year ago but I just started playing unbound after heat and I 100% agree. The cars in NFS want to grip so bad when drifting. It’s almost like they only implemented drift for their sharp drift corners because unless you 100% max a car for drift it feels like they just want to grip the road.
I prefer grip, but ultimately I'm more concerned if the handling is controllable and accurate than anything else. Rivals (modded to 60fps) is still my favourite frostbite handling because its actually predictable and precise.
@@eddyalvaross2195 I don't agree with what they aimed for at all, but the execution was definitely pretty damn good. Its a shame it was put together in such a rush though, the clipping and bugs are the only real issues I have with the game
@@existentialselkath1264 Yep. Sad that they delay themselves the success they're supposed to have. EA is really terrible with its management of the NFS franchise these years.
For me I’d love to see a nfs where they have a day/night where the day is race days like prostreet, consistent price money and rewards. Then night is the longer street races with super high payouts but with the higher risk of police. Then you could implement the heat system by having certain race days not allowing you to enter if you have too much heat with the police which could tie into a story you know
@@emanh4keem_san420 yea but yk nfs is its own thing and decided to go time trail instead of score like panther said maybe later on they’ll do ghost system to make it viable to challenge yourself or even add drift events where you touge a hill and it bases off points not who was down first
I think they need to make a separate physics system for drifting and grip, similar to Pro Street and games before, instead of trying to combine the two handlings through one buggy physics system that is known it can not do both types of handling. Have the physics be a togglable option in the tuning menu, chosen during car purchase, or event specific. I think this would properly cover both sides fairly. That said, criterion needs to fix the viper's snap drift issue. Car is unusable in S+.
I very much agree about class seperation. I think it makes sense if they did a drift class with carx style handling, then a drag class and so on, also making classes more seperate from each other, to make you look stupid when you try to participate in a drag event with your drift car or vice versa.
All you need to do is allow for fine tuning suspension, tire, wheel fitment, tire pressure, rubber amount….basically like for a horizon did…. When you can fine tune everything(and it actually translates and changes how the car responds) you can set your car up for any style driving you want…drift, drag, grip
I just realized something, have every car start out as a grip car, but when customizing it, you can install different kits, which completely changes the handling of the car. That way, you can keep the grip style gameplay and still be able to build a drift car.
What absolutely infuriates me is when a game locks things away behind stuff I don't want to do. I want the M1, but I don't enjoy drifting, yet I will have to 3-star every drift zone to get it. It's crucial for the success of a modern driving game to have a handling system that allows for different styles of driving and which is deep and complex enough to be challenging but can be mastered, that will satisfy all players more in the long run. But having a game which in terms of style and message is all about individual freedom of expression and doing things your own way, and then making it mandatory to do a super-wide variety of things to unlock cars - that's just stupid. With the low speed at which you make money, the fact that many cars are locked away behind a hefty price tag is more than enough to make them aspirational. Instead of unlocking cars, I feel like challenges with leaderboards and unlockable playercard customisation in the style of Call Of Duty is a better way to do this. Your point about not trusting the data they're getting from telemetry alone to understand What Players Want™ is very important. If what you make is bad, you can't rely on the fact people aren't doing it to show people don't in theory want it; all you can reliably tell from that data is that they don't want this execution of that concept. Mods and community discussion/ranting are much better metrics of what players really want from the games they play.
There is a FRICKING MOBLIE GAME called project drift 2 and what they have done is genius imo. They let you apply different physics to each car so they dont have the same problem as nfs for example. When you want to race you apply racing physics, when you want to drift you apply drift physics. Its kinda like forza horizon where you can apply sim or arcade-sim physics but more accessible (instead of going to the settings its a button in the hud). I believe nfs COULD try something similar to keep everyone satisfied and happy
Feeling like a million bucks right now lol thank you for the feature!! @7:21 I hope we can get the changes we want. Hats off to the modding community. @hayeduce
Thats vanilla drift clip from another youtuber who knows how play drift in unbound that they thinking the drift so bad, turns out that guy has good to drift on vanilla without mod smh
They technically can just change the angle of the car when drifting and it would please many people but if they won't even do that then I doubt they'll change any physics. This march update will show us if they truly care, character clothing still clippling through your player model in a 2023 next gen game is ridiculous.
yeah they still didn't see the blower mod from heat they could add drag racing and customization for some of the cars like wheelie bars, blower options for your engine i think people would love having drag racing and specific customization for drag racing could be a great update to unbound
the thing is you need a very good skill level to master base game drifting in Unbound, in AWD cars, it's easy to learn, but then in RWD or FWD cars, it's difficult.., the guy drifting in 350Z, he's doing a really good job, i'm almost at his level but yeah.., same goes with other games like Forza, you need skill to drift and all..
I’m so happy you made this vid, I been saying they’re physics are so ass for years they need to change it all, nfs undercover was one of the best handling
I build lots of drift cars on heat with the parts that are offered in the game and it’s very fun having great lines around the city or in events. I agree with you Theo. These videos are important, I hope that criterion listens to you and that they're gonna fix these *plentyful* shortcomings in the next game😅I still think ghost had been the best NFS developer. After 2015 and Heat, Unbound feels to me like a step backwards in many ways. R.I.P, Ghost
Your vehicle handling argument is how I feel about street cars in the crew 2, I recently got back into it and although the cars feel different, they all feel the same too if that makes sense
I think the reason that drifting is the way it is in NFS Unbound is because it keeps the momentum for the most part. The thing with the style of drifting in the beginning of the video is it's speed. That's cool for B class and maybe A class but it doesn't go into the flow of the game. You can get a S class car to drift but why do that when grip is more viable with the acceleration and handling of the S class cars. He mentioned The Crew 2 which has its own dedicated drift events. I don't know about most but I have one build for each class so my whatever class car has to also drift if I want to do those very few events. It isn't worth it
I think it would be better if they pulled a forza and made it possible to turn any car into a drag, drift, rally etc. separating every car by class just made it feel clunky and requiring ownership of multiple of the same car.
Bro prostreet was the game back then for me, I loved putting it on king difficulty then grinding stage 4 parts and just absolutely dumpster the kings and then cry while versing Rudy chan 😆 my 2 favourite modes were speed races and drifting... speed for the absolute chaos of losing your car bc of the 0.5 knots of wind causing it to slip and drifting because getting 10k in those events was my goal every event
MY GOD I know I'm bias but Prostreet was so fucking underrated I get it because it was track racing but the layout like Theo was talking about each class was absolutely perfect and they need to bring that back so badly Wheelie comps were the funnest thing ever even tho it was pretty easy to wheelie the whole 1/4
bro for the longest time I have just wanted a need for speed game that was like most wanted, carbon and pro street all in one. Most wanted had the best street racing, carbon had the best drifting, and pro street had the best drag racing.
Haven't messed with the drifting much, all I know is, the grip set ups I've built, are no where near the builds I had in heat... in heat, the cars would stick to the road when set to downforce high, now, they just randomly go completely off the rails, it's ridiculous
This series is a little too arcade to really put any heavy detail into these systems, with how this game is built they should probably be focused on dropping new cars consistantly. As much as I want NFS drifting to be better, its also very easy for new players to attempt and that seems to be ultimate goal for this game.
In need for speed underground 2 they had tuning for each race type and even a Dino and a test track. I think that should make a comeback and let the players pick which tune they want to drive on the street. So if you wanted to drift or grip and just be a dragster you can be in free room with those types of physics related to the event
They tried with nfs 2015 and failed miserably😂 even had magnus walker and ken block involved so what does that tell you? Nfs is a circus of a franchise unfortunately
NFSU doesnt have drifting, it looks more like skitting rather than anything else. Drifting, is actually what the mod offers, tandems, long ass drifts, angles etc. But again, you should never look at an NFS game for reference of what drifting looks like
i think the did a better job at having more unique car handling, like the lotus, its very snappy and you will spin out if you hold the throttle during a drift, it definetly feels right to its wieght distribution
they need the physics to have 3 different states. Grip, power sliding, and drifting. I haven't played unbound but seeing these physics from 2015-heat show that making drift fast eliminates fun actual drifting and just looks like power sliding.
I’d have to disagree with you on this one Theo. NFS is an arcade game and I think this drift mod looks great and really suits the arcade style while staying pretty realistic. In vanilla Unbound the way the vehicles snap out of drifts and straighten up in an unstable manner is very reminiscent to sliding a car with an open diff in real life compared to the mod which seems to solve this issue.
The main thing I dislike about unbound’s drifting is initiation and linking. I feel I understand it pretty well so I’m sure other people dislike it also. Anyways initiating a drift(mainly at lower speed and high speed) is a fight. Once I got it I can maintain a drift but linking is a whole other thing where the game doesn’t want you linking drifts? Say you do link a drift the game fights with you when you wanna transition and even when do manage it you get less points then you would just drifting a corner, get 1,500 combo, repeat. Like I said I feel confident that this is a thing but if it isn’t “I’m sorry I guess?”
While I do agree with you, I feel like they’re aiming for the general public to try and get more sales, hence, A$AP Rocky, a lot of people, including me, don’t have that much time to play and learn the controls anymore, and to balance it out they should add an advanced handling model, where cars handle like what you and the community suggested, I hope they do that in the next update, this way both parties are able to enjoy the game, idk how they can do that online though, maybe different servers for either option? Idk it could probably be a bit more expensive
If nfs unbound had carx type drift mechanics like the mod somewhat does, it’ll be a serious breeze to actually drift, but again there all different games with different plays and different mechanics so you can’t hate in it to much sense drifting in nfs was pretty much the same from heat and unbound to a similar existent
watching the clip with the 350z drifting (vanilla unbound) yeah, looked mid lol. this is how i drift and ive barely bothered learning it. its weird but imo, its way, way easier to drift well in unbound than say, a sim or simcade like gt7. basically, forza has confused so many people by making it seem like drifting is something that cars do naturally (they dont. you need a lot of mods)
also, pro street was the closest to what i think you want? handling wasnt awful btw. you were just shit xD i never had handling issues except for one car. the rx-7 in drift mode. as i would transition, the car would say no and just keep going in the direction it was going. i fixed it by using any other car xD (s15. i could easily get 4x the score of any drift event)
I went back and played NFS PAYBACK and that handling is MUCH BETTER and more fun than the garbage stock handling in heat and unbound. Doesn’t slow you down and is just fun
what u say is pretty good for NFS, except drivetrain swaps...... main reason for that is I dont want NFS to turn into Forza when playing online, in forza u have to use AWD on every car you use to be able to keep up with other players. I like the idea of been able to use a RWD car or a AWD car, I pick my cars with the drivetrain in mind depending on what I want to use it for
Because ea is like that one kid that is really noticeable trying to fit into a certain crowd when really everybody knows that indeed they do not fit into said crowd😂
I agree with you with the car classes, there needs to be a more fleshed out system between all classes because honestly nfs seems like a game where it’s trying to reach every crowd in the car community, off-road, rally, drifting and grip racing. Grip racing I see they are really improving on, drift is still pretty nasty to watch, everything else is well… everything else. Now I’m not saying it has to be a simulation game because obviously that’s not what nfs is, but they have to figure out what they are doing because drifting on dirt roads, having big 3 or 4 SUVs for some reason I cannot figure out why they still do it, it’s just not hitting. I didn’t buy unbound because I knew it would feel like the past few nfs games, so I watch you play them and enjoy them the way I wish I could, the “revenge” style story just did not hit the same as heat, I feel like this game tries to be woke and I hate when games go for that, I just want them to figure their crap out. They’ve been making these games for 2 decades and can’t seem to find their place in racing games.
Try R32 Skyline with max drift setup. Unfortunately i can't play Unbound for this tome but in 2015, Payback and Heat i've used R32 Skyline for drift and it was awesome in every part.
As a FIFA player for years, do not expect nothing from EA. I know the games are handled by different studios, regardless, the big decisions (i.e., the ones that matter) are handled by the EA suits and they simply don't care because we buy the games anyway.
100% agree with you on this, jump down criterion’s neck, make a poll/vote for criterion and let’s start something. They also need to make this next update the first big step, more cars, customisation, maybe weekly races added back where you can win and face a boss at the end to win their car or a big crash prize. They seriously need to make a start. Because this game has already died out almost and it’s hanging on by a thread. Maybe do it for both story and online, as some people prefer one or the other more! I prefer story/single personally. A lot can be done with this game a hell of a lot. So let’s hope thet start to listen and watch videos etc and listen to their community. Let’s save NFS UNBOUND 😅
8:48 If they have such data, off road races wouldn't be a thing because who asked for that in a NFS game? Plus they wouldn't be adding the BMW M3 GTR in every new installment of NFS games. The believe that car will give them the same amount/more copies sold then Most Wanted 2005 if they add it in is stupid.
Because of forced off-road races obviously, meaning most use it. Also the M3 is highly used, it was rebuilt and the fact people want it removed is plain dumb. Just don't use it lmao
@@BlackPanthaa People want it removed because it only brought in for sake of milk people nostalgic and they straight up retcon certain parts of the previous NFS storylines. Just to give it a reason why it exist their in the first place. They will just straight up crush it from that and for it being street illegal. They could've Instead build development on the Polestar 1. NFSU doesnt have drifting, it looks more like skitting rather than anything else. Drifting, is actually what the mod offers, tandems, long ass drifts, angles etc. But again, you should never look at an NFS game for reference of what drifting looks like
Nfs carbon challenge series canyon drift x circuit drift type of drifting physics 😌
i think the did a better job at having more unique car handling, like the lotus, its very snappy and you will spin out if you hold the throttle during a drift, it definetly feels right to its wieght distribution
There should be a simulation slider like Forza horizon.
they need the physics to have 3 different states. Grip, power sliding, and drifting. I haven't played unbound but seeing these physics from 2015-heat show that making drift fast eliminates fun actual drifting and just looks like power sliding.
i'd be happy to have a more tricky drift mode in the game and differently drag races
But lets be real this mod makes drifting to damm easy so you dont have to Upgrade youre car
If drifting like that was possible in base game I don't think I'd ever stop playing tbh
They should just add different tires for the different things you want to do.
If you want to drift - drift tires
^Just solve the big equation
While I do agree with you, I feel like they’re aiming for the general public to try and get more sales, hence, A$AP Rocky, a lot of people, including me, don’t have that much time to play and learn the controls anymore, and to balance it out they should add an advanced handling model, where cars handle like what you and the community suggested, I hope they do that in the next update, this way both parties are able to enjoy the game, idk how they can do that online though, maybe different servers for either option? Idk it could probably be a bit more expensive
Never forget: Theo cancelled a great game like Midnight Club LA, but loves a bad game like Unbound.
real
Dub edition was the best and it's old he's clearly in the right midnight club won't get that many views.
What u mean cancelled? They didn’t release it because of him?
Did you play unbound ?
@@cementbox4430 yes
Damn Theo your hair is really impressive 😅
Thank you hahaha
this is exactly why nfs 2015 is not dead yet. physics was broken for racing but drifting... man....
it’d b cool👍 if there were drag race events in all NFS games, aside from the circuit race events
we need a side nfs game where it is focused around mods, like bonelab or blade and sorcery, it could be called NFS playground or something
They need that carxdrift drifting mechanics
If nfs unbound had carx type drift mechanics like the mod somewhat does, it’ll be a serious breeze to actually drift, but again there all different games with different plays and different mechanics so you can’t hate in it to much sense drifting in nfs was pretty much the same from heat and unbound to a similar existent
Played some GRID didnt want to spend too much time customizing the damn car sometimes I just wanna race and not spend ages doing some grind.
watching the clip with the 350z drifting (vanilla unbound)
yeah, looked mid lol. this is how i drift and ive barely bothered learning it. its weird but imo, its way, way easier to drift well in unbound than say, a sim or simcade like gt7. basically, forza has confused so many people by making it seem like drifting is something that cars do naturally (they dont. you need a lot of mods)
also, pro street was the closest to what i think you want? handling wasnt awful btw. you were just shit xD i never had handling issues except for one car. the rx-7 in drift mode. as i would transition, the car would say no and just keep going in the direction it was going. i fixed it by using any other car xD (s15. i could easily get 4x the score of any drift event)
The things I would do to get another game like pro street, the replay-ability of it was unmatched
idk, anything it's better than the arcade drift system... i really miss the mw physics
Shift 2 Unleashed has the best drifting physics imo
I went back and played NFS PAYBACK and that handling is MUCH BETTER and more fun than the garbage stock handling in heat and unbound. Doesn’t slow you down and is just fun
what u say is pretty good for NFS, except drivetrain swaps...... main reason for that is I dont want NFS to turn into Forza when playing online, in forza u have to use AWD on every car you use to be able to keep up with other players. I like the idea of been able to use a RWD car or a AWD car, I pick my cars with the drivetrain in mind depending on what I want to use it for
What they need in NFS is the crew 2's handling
Ah hell naw 💀
Very nice drifting in NFS Unbound!
Cool video black panthaa
Just like pro street , that was a fun game with many different types of events such as drag races and drifting !
Don't forget Wheelie comps
So yeah maybe the class system in Payback wasn't that bad
The best the drifting ever was, was in Carbon. They got it better than it ever was, or has been, or probably ever will be.
Did you know Theo have an official livery in crew 2 in the Porsche
I'm still wondering why there is off road stuff in unbound
Because ea is like that one kid that is really noticeable trying to fit into a certain crowd when really everybody knows that indeed they do not fit into said crowd😂
The cars should all be unique tbh if they balance it out then there’s no point
This video makes me think. Speaking of drifting has anyone done a perfect waltap
NFS Heat was the best NFS in a long time
ProStreets handling problem wasn't the handling itself, it was the stupid input delay the game had.
Try R32 Skyline with max drift setup. Unfortunately i can't play Unbound for this tome but in 2015, Payback and Heat i've used R32 Skyline for drift and it was awesome in every part.
If they make drifting better, it would bring so many people to the game.
The drifting is ok in nfs unbound, it’s just that people are forced to make grip builds because it overpower drift builds.
we need this but with a little more grip
This is a mod? Damn we should be fonding these people to make a real street racing game underground style again.
Thats why i started playing carx drift
Idk, Nissan Silvia S14 is hard for racing. But, for Drifting is really good.
As a FIFA player for years, do not expect nothing from EA. I know the games are handled by different studios, regardless, the big decisions (i.e., the ones that matter) are handled by the EA suits and they simply don't care because we buy the games anyway.
Maybe just like what's been done with Resident Evil, they should go back and start over at pro street and go from there.
Wasn't there suppose to be a update in unbound?....or am I just "under the water"
This video is sooo satisfying
The drifting is so smooth!
@@BlackPanthaa I know right
bro was wrong about drifting 😩😩
Like why in the hell will the police department keep the most wanted vehicle that cost mass chaos and waste of taxes payer money, laying around in their impound? They will just straight up crush it from that and for it being street illegal. They could've Instead build development on the Polestar 1. Which they spend load of marketing on and completely wasted it in NFS Heat.
