I'm on the fence with this one. Great review! I agree with the look throwing me off between classic and Marvel Now versions. Hrrrmm, no ankle pivot? Mezco, please!!!
I might be a little late here but I think the costume might be from Rick Remenders' Captain America: Castaway in Dimension Z story minus the things that are supposed to cover his ears and the darker color of the uniform.
The boots and gloves look like they are based off the Ultimate Cap's costume from the Ultimates comics (which may explain the knife & grenades). I agree that the shoulder harness would look better in a black or brown color; Good review!
I want to see 1:12 styled comic book, tv and movie figures from mezco that are just sculpted without cloth but metal would work I like how the figures come with a bunch of hand and accessories
Pretty cool. Would've been nice if they had made t hgv e gloves, boots, and mask like the true classic look. I dont like the chin cover. And the star could be bigger. The steps,I'd paint it either black or brown. But I definitely agree with you. Great review!
I've been watching a lot of reviews for this figure since SDCC and this was by far the most critical. Most reviews point out the lack of ankle pivot which is a bummer, but as for the complaints about the gloves/boots/straps, Mezco said all of these One:12 Collective figures are their own interpretations and not based strictly on comic designs. Welcome to his opinion, but check out some other reviews if you are thinking about picking up either this or the modern cap version from Mezco.
Actually most of the the One:12 Marvel figures we have seen are very accurate. Regardless if it doesnt bother you to have Marvel Now boots and gloves with a classic costume and an off blue shield harness that doesnt match anything on the figure, then knock yourself out shelling out $110 for it. While someone is certainly welcome to check out other reviews, I am not sure why you think someone needs to go find a review to tell them they should buy the figure to make up their own mind about it. Regardless of my own opinion I clearly show you the figure and what you get with it in this review that should be enough info for someone to make up their own mind about it. There is nothing in my review stated about the figure that is inaccurate.
Sorry but those boots are almost identical to Marvel Now. I don't care if you like the figure, but dont try and make excuses for it either. If you like Marvel Now boots and gloves on a classic outfit and it makes you feel better to call it artistic interpretation then knock yourself out. If you really want a line that gives you artistic interpretation and you don't mind spending a lot of money then I would suggest you check out the Play-Arts Kai Marvel variant line or Tamashii Nations Realization line. Those are truly unique takes of classic Marvel characters. This just seems like laziness to me not wanting to take the time to give us a true classic Cap.
Thanks for your review. Very well done and completely informative. I'm lost on why these tiny figures cost so much or even why anyone would spend that much for them. This scale reminds me of the Stan Lee figure they put out years ago that had clothes but switched into Spider-man as well. I think I got him for $30.00 and it felt too much even then. I just think these would look great if they were bigger. Maybe Mego scale or a bit bigger for that kind of money.
The hands and boots resemble the Ultimate version of captain America more so than Marvel Now... Marvel now is like modern paneling and sleek the ones on the figure are more sorta tactical and realistic like the Ult version.
It looks bad. The SDCC Mezco figures really looked oft putting JC. The waist is completely gone with the Cap and a few others. The clothing like you said makes certain body definitions disappear. I am seeing some MAJOR flaws in the 1:12 line. Besides the increasing price, I thing it was a big letdown in SDCC.
The face on the Face Off Cap is really ugly so I prefer this one. Plus the extra articulation as well as it being hidden puts this one way above that one in my opinion.
Shane Richardson The cloth looks like something my grandmother would've sewn, I think it just make the figure look a little cheap. I don't mind being able to see joints but I do mind loose fitting cloth.

There actually is a small amount of ankle pivot in other reviews. Must just be bad luck.

One main thing I like about the cloth is it hides the joints

YOu can always paint the harness brown to give the realistic look it ????

are you gonna get the other DC and Marvel figures?
I like the tin packaging, but the figure doesn't look so hot. Nice review!
Something looks off, not sure if it's the cloth or the body itself.for some reason I remember the prototype at various toy shows looking a bit better.
I love this figure!! Great review!

Not as good as the Batman
I don't like this mezco figure the straps are ugly
Which BAF wave is this figure in? just kidding, he's not even a Marvel Legend.
The Marvel Legends version is much better.
Not sure what ML Cap you're talking about but none of the ones I've ever seen measure up to this in the slightest.
Shane Richardson The Marvel Legends Face Off Captain America figure wipes the floor with this figure. The cloth makes this figure look like a doll lol

I'd say it isn't quite as good on this figure but on TDKR Batman and the new Armored they totally rock the cloth.
