Overview of the 2025 Toyota 4Runner
Toyota has kept the iconic roll-down rear window, and the new 4Runner’s exterior is nice
So What’s New?
brand-new sixth-generation model. This latest version uses the 2024 Tacoma pickup truck as its foundation
Pricing
Toyota hasn't released the official pricing for the 2025 4Runner just yet, but we anticipate a slight price increase over the 2024 model. We expect the 2025 Toyota 4Runner to start around $43,000 and go up to $54,000
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
278-horsepower turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The base versions of the 4Runner won't feature the hybrid system Adding the hybrid option bumps power to 317 hp.
Unlike the Tacoma, no manual is available
The standard setup is a rear-wheel-drive layout, but for those who crave adventure, a full-time four-wheel-drive system is available. The base 4Runner has 9.2 inches of ground clearance, but off-road-focused models with bigger 33-inch tires will raise that number slightly.
optional disconnecting stabilizer bars, a locking rear differential, and an off-road cruise control system are in. manually adjustable dampers available in hybrid model
trim levels
The 4Runner: SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro, 4Runner Platinum takes the Limited model: standard tow tech package, a head-up display and automatic rain-sensing wipers for a more luxurious on-road experience.
The TRD Pro used to sit alone at the top of the food chain, but it now shares that spot with the new 4Runner Trailhunter. The TRD Pro is built for going fast over off-road whoops and dunes, while the Trailhunter is here to, well, hunt trails. It features the same off-road goodies as the Tacoma Trailhunter, including Trailhunter-specific upper control arms and 33-inch off-road tires as standard.
Towing and Payload Capacity
The 2025 Toyota 4Runner boasts an impressive maximum towing capacity of 6000 pounds. This is a significant improvement of 1000 pounds over the previous generation. It’s a robust figure that outshines many of its competitors, including the Jeep Wrangler.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
If the cabin of the 4Runner looks familiar, that’s because it borrows much of its design from the most recent Sequoia, Tacoma and Tundra pickup trucks
Inside the 4Runner, Climate controls, the switches for the 4WD system, and the toggles for lights and auxiliary inputs are all physical - no haptic feedback here. There are multiple USB-C ports, a wireless charging pad, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
seating position is high. The doors and center console feel too close to you and headroom is hard to come by. Larger backseat riders will be pleased with their two USB-C ports, but they might be left wanting for both knee- and headroom. At least Toyota kept the 4Runner's roll-down tailgate glass intact.
It may not be as open-air as a Jeep Wrangler or a Ford Bronco with their roofs removed
infotainment system and tech features
The infotainment and technology area is where the 2025 4Runner really stands out compared to the previous generation. While the 2024 model was quite basic, the new one is packed with high-tech features. A standard 8.0-inch infotainment display runs Toyota's latest software, which we found to be both user-friendly and quick to load.
For those looking for even more, there's an optional 14.0-inch display and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. As mentioned in the interior discussion prior to this, every model comes equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB-C ports, and a digital key system that allows you to lock, unlock, and start your 4Runner with a smartphone app. Plus, an optional wireless smartphone charging pad is available for added convenience.
safety and driver-assistance features
Toyota equips every 2025 4Runner with a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features known as TSS 3.0Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Toyota provides two years of complimentary scheduled maintenance
That wraps up our look at the 2025 Toyota 4Runner! With its blend of rugged design, modern technology, impressive off-road capabilities, and comprehensive safety features, the new 4Runner

Can you possibly make a video on the best mid size Suvs available now? Curious to see your thoughts!
Thank you for your comment! This is a great idea. Will release a video on it for sure!
Awesome video man! Some very nice updated in this 6th Gen for sure😎😎😎
Yes, Toyota added some exceptional features to this 6th Gen model. Real improvements!
While many of the updates are nice and it is a good looking SUV, the 4 cylinder turbo charger is a disappointment and will not be as reliabe as the V6. Time will tell. Hopefully the trnasmission which is normally carried over from Tacoma does not display the same failures being reported in the 2024 Tacoma's
Yes absolutely agree. Turbo is always cause for extra worry unfortunately. One can only hope this transmission holds up well. Indeed time will tell.
Not necessarily think how long turbo diesel motors run reliably. If its built right it should last a long time. It is a toyota afterall it shld be reliable within a year after release. I have the first year of the 3rd gen tacoma and it has over 200,000 miles on it and its been nothing but solid since new
@@CodySnell_87well not I don’t know if we can judge by the nameplate nowadays. tundras are not doing real well
@@CodySnell_87 That is true. Turbo diesels in the past from Toyota have held up really well, such as the Fortuner. But will these new turbos be as good?
@@powertools2375 This is also true. Perhaps based off past Toyota turbos we could assume this will be reliable, but the turbos are different... I wonder if these turbos will be reliable as the Tundra as you mentioned is having some issues.
100% the new 4runner will NOT have the longevity of the 4.0L V6....infact it wont even have the reliability of the 4L...the days of buying a vehicle and taking care of it to last forever are gone...its all about profits now and this goes for everything in life including your own health
Man, this is so true unfortunately. The turbo will most likely not hold up as well as the the 4.0L V6. Those old school Toyota V6's last forever if taken care of...
