It’s not discussing the 3Rs per se that is problematic, but the exploitation of these issues to manipulate others for ulterior purposes. If we want to discuss the 3Rs, this needs to be done in a reasoned and responsible manner.
@@kopitiamcouncil BTW, thanks for the interview with the Professor. He seemed to be saying that the 3Rs (race, royalty, religion) are not the key issue, the key issue is social class. I tend to agree. If I understood the Professor correctly, he seemed to be saying that the wealthy/capitalist class exploits the 3Rs to manipulate the rest of society, and unless we recognise (and discuss) the social class issue, we become vulnerable to such manipulation. This point seems important, as I think too many Malaysians pay too much attention to the 3Rs, and allow themselves to be manipulated. Personally, I roll my eyes when my relatives/friends complain about 3R issues. 🤔😂
Exactly...if we can't discuss 3Rs, we are basically telling ourselves we are too good at self censorship at issues that need to be discussed not only between races but even within the same community. That is wrong as it gives the guys in authority too much power in telling and deciding what we can or cannot do and even doing the thinking for us!
@@JianYZhong No problem, glad you enjoyed it and stay tuned we hope to have more guests like Prof eventually. As the other commenter here mentioned about self censorship it can be brought up as a convenient excuse to deflect nuanced issues. Political correctness has its place but when it doesn’t allow for a critique on the state of governance it becomes dangerous
@@Balangair1 Ultimately we need to keep an open mind and think for ourself. I would also suggest prioritising what is important. For me, the 3Rs are far from being priority issues. Obsessing over these issues make us vulnerable to manipulation to others. Whereas I would think ending promoting sustainable development, ending poverty (especially among indigenous Malaysians) and ending corruption are far more important. I am happy to leave it to the Malay community to sort out whatever issues there are with the royalty, and let the Muslims (and Christians) sort out whatever issues there are with religious extremism. If we have more social equality, better education and better health, these issues will automatically go away (given time).

500 years of colonisation is a cliche repeated by Najib and evryone until some really really believed it. Study the history properly and dont insult the countless of Malay Kingdoms who prospered , established centres of trade and they were indepedent a even after 1511. 80 % of the Malay Kingdoms were not conquered until after 1880s. Acheh was not subdued until early 1900s and so was Johore was independent until 1909.
that generation, those who migrated due to wars and famine and received land gift are now almost gone, their offsprings dont know anything and asking the descendants to be grateful will be futile.
Even your english cannot be deciphered shows that you're definitely one of Umno's macai or worse a walaun of Pas brainwashed to be a racist and an religious bigot that will destroy Malaysia.
Back then during war time Indian soldiers were sent to Malaysia by the Brit to protect us. They sent the migrant to cultivate the land before war. The Chinese were being sold here to work as hard labours at mining pit. Sigh. Life is tough.. wish all of us have a peaceful life not fight among different ethnicity
From 19th century Loke Yew to 20th century Lim Chong Eu to recent years like Michelle Yeoh/ Lee ChongWei, Malaysian Chinese (and English education system) done excellently here, being dengki by Penang Pas and Anwar those days to abolish them. Not being grateful for by the younger Malays who are so brainwashed by PAS hatred and their cybertroopers, time for these fella to seek other places! Look at Hock Tan, Penang Free Schooler and now Trillion dollar company CEO! Malaysia is a doomed place with wrong ideologies and political dynamics, and major race are brainwashed with populist, and critical thinking is missing after English Schools abolished. Poor nation keep threading backwards unconsciously.

Agreed! It shouldn’t be used as a convenient shield from discussions one might find uncomfortable, respect and open mindedness needs to be balanced

Mathatir is still in colonial mentality
Can't blame him for that. Almost half of his life is dealing with colonizers
You don't know the sacrifice that the Malays went through 500 years of colonization by foreign powers...
Really? Appreciate some points on this sacrifice
What about the native did they not sacrifice, till today they have been sidelined
