Wonderful to work with Jamaicans at Gebbers farms loved the language. Have my CDL 22 yrs now am living in Illinois and semi retired from Washington state
What differences are there in this American temporary agricultural program for the people of Jamaica, with the temporary agricultural program of Canada? Greetings with all due respect to the Jamaican family.
Nothing is harvested in the winter months snow from December to February. The program includes there flights payed and transportation at work as well to get groceries. Plus no rent or utility bills.
I'm born and raised in Brewster wa and trust me they make more money then me and then alot of local residents. They get more then minimum wage, there camps are brand new housing with heater and ac. They get free transportation and when they get there checks they take $10-$15 of there checks while we get $200-$300 out. They also have wifi and soccer fields to play and free housing with no light/water bills. Trust me they are very well off then alot of the local residents in town.
Different farms in America and Canada have contracts with other Caribbean islands, Mexico and Latin American countries. Also Jamaica has a much larger population than most of the other islands where the economy is better off and jobs are more available. The cruise lines do the same thing.
Damn why they gotta make it sound like that, there are jobs out here its just that many persons arent qualified because they either don't have an education or have little to that.
There is nothing to feel embarrassed about. People from all professions leave the Caribbean and other parts of the world to seek employment in England and North America. Everybody cannot be a doctor or lawyer. Blame the government for not having a free and proper education system and the business people for not creating enough jobs for the citizens. There is something called distribution of labour. I hope they educate their children.
Thanks for having me . i am really grateful for this opportunity for me and my family👪.
