- Was really desiring to get back into traditional art again. So I chose to do a basic pose to kinda “warm-up” back into it, if you will… It’s been a while.
These are mostly old airbrush acrylics that I got out of a closet from many years ago, as well as some old brushes… Basically diluting the paint and building it up.
Anyway- hope you enjoy!
(wasn't able to add sound- some glitch on my computer prevented me from being able to do so.)

HOW. I mean I see it, but HOW. Praise the dragon god, this is some good shit👌👌
This makes me want to draw more dragons.
Love your dragons, their all amazing.
Oh my gosh. I was actually getting a bit freaked out by this. Those eyes just pierce my soul lol. So, so awesome.
That is so amazing. Texture...color...unbelievably good.
Thanks!
One of the best dragon artworks i have ever seen i really love this !!!
This is amazing and now I'm inspired I want to have a go at painting a dragon of some sort!
Truely a Marcello Barenghi another very high detailed super realistic artist, but with dragons instead of everyday objects.
So big respect I can't descripe how cool this is. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amazing drawing!! It looks so realistic :o Love your art! ^^
Always good to see talent in action. Congrats!
Beautiful dragon painting, so many details. Amazing video. Have a lovely day :)
I like this so much more than your digital stuff honestly, Awesome job!
I wish I would have looked up dragon paintings earlier and found your channel. I just subscribed to you. This dragon is fantastic and I love how you did it with a small paint detailed brush. Thank you for teaching this.
Thanks so much!
Always love seeing your process. Awesome work.
the immense detail make it look like an image in 4k resolution. been a subscriber and admirer for many years. good job as always. edit: btw, your videos made me want to start my transition to digital artwork back in like 2011, just wanted to share that with u!
how do you visualize something of that scale? it is incredible work. Do you have a rough sketch in your head and then fill in the blanks? or do you have like a photographic style image that you just put to paper?
Not speaking for him, but looking at his past videos (digital or traditional), he has a general idea and pose in mind then roughs up the edges of the creature. Then goes into his routine, based on years of practice, of layering the scales and details, and just adds color and other effects as he goes. In other words, a progressive workflow.
Thanks! I more or less have a lot of "shapes" of these kind of beasts memorized from years of doodling them out. This painting is more detail focused than anatomy focused, as I am trying to warm myself up into traditional art again-- so it is sort of a re-hash of the same 'lo, same 'ol. :) I did, however, try to integrate newer detail that I have been learning from studying skin and scales from various reptiles, alligators, etc.
Goes to show we're always learning :)
WTF! Master! Nice to see an analog painting. Its interesting to understand that 90% is abstract painting - just eyes and teeth gave it a "feeling of real dragon".
Broseph, you're right up there with the Feng Zhus, Andree Wallins, Scott Robertsons. Awesome stuff. Hope to see more.
thanks!
Amazing work Chris :)
thanks! always great hear from you! hope you are well.
Fantastic is an under statement to describe your work. I love to draw dragons, and I can see why so many artists draw and paint them, you're only limitation is your imagination. But your work is on an entirely different level, If I can produce work that is even a fraction as good as your's then I'll consider myself a very fortunate man. Congratulations on being gifted with such an amazing gift.
You have a great command of the brush!
Thanks! I have been getting back to more brush work. I really miss it. But with AI art and the economy-- looks like I will be pushed back into doing more .
Whoa, that's detailed, powerful, dragonful! ! !
so amazing job I love it can not wait for your next video :)

looks awesome!
me: sees the title. ok. acrylics. Me who dosent usually read desc: :p me seeing airbrush: THATS ILLEGAL !
Pretty amazing attention to detail. Only one criticism would be, there is not much contrast between the dragon and the mountain rock on the left. Still hard to separate visually.
Thanks so much! :)
Amazing!

Did you use watercolor as well as acrylics?
No, it was just watered down acrylics
Art and Animation of Chris Scalf wow, didn't know you could do that but it makes sense. What type of board (canvas) are you using?
Please don't have this dragon jump out and eat me
Is that beauty for sale?
It is, actually. If interested, PM me. (or email- cscalf@chrisscalf.com)
Whats the timeline for something like this? 10 min video sped up, so...a 5 hour draw time? Less, more?
Hi! This video was about 10 hours realtime.
...I'm working on a flower..............
Hey what's that thing that you used in 3:13

I call hacks. Unbelievable
If you learn who Daenerys is and you put her in your dragon drawings. I kid you not your paintings will probably sell instantaneously. :)
Thanks! :)
As long as you don't run into the copyright problems from GOT. lol!
