My friend Wade gave me a titanium spindle for my primo cranks like 15 years ago. Although i have changed arms a few times since then, the spindle remains the same. Great piece!
I've had a BSD Ti spindle with Primo Hollowbites and tree-lite sprocket on my bike for 15 years. A nickel based anti-seize works best and is much cheaper than the Park Tools packaged antiseize. I've had profiles before and they are great when new - but once the splines start to wear I find them not so great. The Primo Hollowbites don't have that issue [but they do have a pedal boss arrangement which makes removing or changing pedals tedious Also a rubber mallet or dead blow hammer works great for installing the BB / spindle.
Still riding my 15th years Primo Hollowbite 😅 But broke up like two weeks ago 😢 Changed for a profile too with shadow sprocket but idk.. put all together and my chain is not tight everywhere the same when i make the crank turn and i honestly dont understand why… Love your vidz ! Make more !
I used to have Hollowbites too after I upgraded my Powerbites! They were great cranks for sure! The whole sprocket issue is something I used to have a lot too. When I switched to a spline drive sprocket I never had that happen to me again.
@@stuartgibson Since I was a teenager I had this doubt, because the chain is tensioned more on one side when the cranks rotate. So is that the answer? because of the resulting small gap between the axle and the circular hole chain wheel? When placing a chain wheel with the grooved circular hole does that effect disappear?
profile screws are compatible for colonies. What happens is that I currently use the Profile and I want to put only the colony arms to the profile axis
Use to be a weight weenie, then just gave up and ran strong parts. Not that parts can’t be both…..but I’d rather not break anything when I’m out riding 👍🏻Eclat spire 160mm cranks and odsy thunderbolt 170’s here✌🏼
Profiles are the tightest fitting cranks made some of them you don't have to tap. Some you have to beat the crap out of. I put on about 10 pairs and watched many others. Trust me you need a mallet. I'm going to say it again you need a mallet. If not you were lucky as hell
The Originals were different.. the new ones are very tight You think people are tapping on them for the hell of it. LOL. They are tight. Once again they are tight. The universal tool doesn't work all the time when they're too tight and milled different
There are a pair of GT ones if you can get hold of them for half the price. Exactly the same. Weigh nothing. 48H. I'm running them. They weigh next to nothing. I've been told they're produced in the same factory to the same spec...

Very cool!
I love Profile cranks. I’ve ran my on my dirt jumper for over a decade

@@stuartgibson thank for the answer i will take a look at that for sure! Keep making vidéo they are great! 👍🏻

How are you liking the column cranks now?
Are they still holding strong?
I love them, they are still pretty much perfect besides some obvious cosmetic damage

Do you mean the axles? I didn’t know that! 👍🏻

I eclat spire cranks on my trail bike and eclat maverick cranks on my sunday darkwave. They've been holding great for the 2 years.
I agree! Rather not have anything critical break during a riding session
What hub do you have?
Profile Elite hub!
That cassette sounds beast what hubb is that??
It's a Profile Elite hub!
The colony is better. In my opinion
The 2 piece system definitely makes it easier to put together
Profile cranks used to come with an extract/ install tool. Shouldn’t be smacking brand new arms with a hammer dude.
Correct, however a few taps with the rubber side of a hammer is not a disaster. Those cranks are being abused a lot more while on my bike now

Also there's a difference not a hammer a nylon mallet

I'd like to see some modern GT parts in person. Rarely ever see them in The Netherlands
