I've debated for weeks whether to purchase the Variations, as it represents my most expensive single-item purchase since entering Audiophilia. Your review (compared to others I've viewed) is the tipping point for me, and this morning, over my first cup of coffee, I made the purchase! At 6:34, when you begin describing your experience of listening to Diana Krall and the details of the instruments you hear, I finally better understand the experience beyond just the typical adjectives ubiquitous in reviews. I am glad I came across your channel while investigating the Whizzer HE03D. Thank you for that review, by the way - I was almost done in by their good looks alone.

Lats week was comparing these to the Sennheiser ie900 and i returned the ie900. I also have the Monarch 2 which were my favourite among all flagships or some expensive iems ive had, like Mest 2, u12t, ie900, Xelento 2 and i like the Variations even more than the Monarch 2. For me the Variations are cleaner, smoother and have way better bass. I dont know whats going on but to my ears the Variations are absolutely magical in tuning. Their trebles are ethereal, i feel like im floating in space when listening to them.

Buy the Truthear Nova. Basically Variations but a sixth of the cost

I know plenty of people that hate the Nova and would advise not buying it. Just because it's tuned similar doesn't mean it can do what the Variation does when it has more drivers and drivers of higher quality. Whats funny is people actually recommend the Zero:Red or the Hexa over the Nova in majority of reviews. The Nova is besides the Hola, Truthears worst IEM. It's not bad but it does lack in certain area's and it doesn't match the package that the Variations offer.

@@burns0100totally agree, not to mention that again just because they are tuned similarly does not mean they sound the same. The Nova has 2 BA that handle the highs whereas the Variations have 2 EST that perform that duty, that alone leads to a pretty noticeable difference in sound, among the various other differences. Honestly I feel TruthEar messed up their flow with the Nova’s they really should have listened to the market and gone with something other than a cheaper variation as one the market is bored of Harman tunings especially after being used to the variations for a while and two MoonDrop will probably make the variations cheaper / give a new model thereby making the TruthEar Nova even more irrelevant. I was personally hoping for a more refined take on the Zero Red

Not even close unless you have damaged hearing...

i listened to both even the choipin. they may be similar tuning wise and graph but when you listen to them side by side you can actually hear the difference. The driver quality on the nova isn't that good in comparison to the variations. But considering the price it's pretty decent. But between chopin and nova I'd pick chopin. The nova has that low quality driver bass.
