Great content. 24+ year old business just now looking at government contracts. There's a lot of YT videos out there, most hard to watch/listen to. Your vids are top-notch, sir. Well done.
Eric, you're in a league of your own. I truly don't see anyone else sharing relevant information like you do on your channel. You are very much appreciated. :o) Bit by bit, you're motivating me towards my goals.
Great point on being a subcontractor to build past performance. I tell all of our new members that being a sub opens door. It's the quickest way to establishing one's company for long term success.

Another GREAT vid. Question. In the 1st part of the video you mentioned being recognized by the on-site government representative, PM, inspector, etc.. while you're a subcontractor, and being offered an opportunity (1:50 - 3:15) . It's my understanding that in MANY instances as a SUB you'll be signing noncompete or non-solicitation agreements with the prime. Please explain how you navigate this. Thanks in advance.
Noncompete agreements are for employees. I don't know of a single subcontractor who has signed a non compete agreement with a Prime contractor. I believe that would be impossible to enforce as the nature of your business is the same service. Second part of your questions, you are not soliciting, each bid is stand alone. Depending upon many criteria the incumbent may not be eligible to participate in future opportunities. Glass half full.
Hello, where do I find low hanging fruit contracts? i love the idea of becoming a consultant thats a brilliant idea. it not only builds your business but it also builds credibility, past performance as well as your business network.... awesome.
RFQ.... great info. Yes I’ll start with city/state but the federal is definitely what I’m going for. Becoming a consultant is a brilliant idea 💡 For real BTW
Hi Eric, i see you mentioning teaming a lot, i have zero contracting experience but will like to team/consult with big companies on how to get million dollar contracts. How do i do it? do you have a video that talks about it?
E Augustin if you don't register when will you have your questions answered. We are more than training, this is about leadership, connecting the dots and working together. If all you need is answers than mostly you can probably get that from anyone.
Eric, thanks for the video. I would like to ask for a clarification on something. If I hired a third party to do the work on a service type contract, would I be able to put their past performance?
Be careful with service contracts because in most cases you have to do 50% of the work. I would say if you team with them yes, but if you only hire them, No.
Eric, that’s easier said than done when it comes to being a subcontractor. I live within 8 miles of an Air Force base, retired from there, and am still having a difficult time being brought on as a subcontractor.
For example if it was for 500 gloves can I state the experience from the supplier or sourced seller? I haven’t seen this in the past videos I’ve seen a majority of them.
I am really reaching here but I worked as a temporary employee for the DOJ for a government contractor (temporary agency). Could that count as past performance? Thanks for all that you do and I love your podcasts!
Glad you love the podcasts can you make sure you leave a review please, pretty please. If you were a 1099 maybe. My litmus test is can you get a reference 🙄
I've been a contractor/consultant for the past 6 years. The companies I've worked for have been prime and sub-contractors. Can I use my own experience as a past performance for my business?
Hello My name is Michael. I am a minority service disabled veteran who is starting from ground zero. Right now I have a few ideas and want to get into government contracting. Where do I start? Any help would be appreciated
Eric Coffie first thanks for your time, second I am like a blind person. I mean I know what our nonprofit can offer. Yet when I’m on SAMS, I have zero idea on how to even find something to bid on in my industry. Omg feel like a whole zero right now. I subscribed as required looking forward. I can’t wait to better understand how to go about this opportunity, to partner with our good ole USA!
#Yikes.... is there a major difference in a NON- SOLICITATION clause and a NON-COMPETE clause in a contract? Because I've had a PRIME submit me a contract that has a NON-SOLICITATION Clause in it... What Do I Do?!?!?! #SOS
Non solicitation meaning likely not to try and solicit that specific agency. Send it to me I’ll be happy to take a look over. Yes there is a difference. Be careful that it doesn’t include other affiliates.

Bit by bit is how we achieve our goals. Big hug. One step at a time.
This channel is gold! Thanks, Eric for your time and sharing info!
Glad you are enjoying.
I’m glad I have found your channel, looking to launch my cyber security company consulting for the federal gov
Cyber is huge, one of the Top 5 areas of focus for DoD.
@@EricCoffie That it is. Is it normal for a prime contractor to pay for security clearances for subs? How does that work? TS investigations are $$$
Great tips for overcoming the challenges of not having government past performance experience. I am pursuing the Consulting route.
You provide so much valuable information! Thank you!
Thanks Montina.

Important that people have the information they need to succeed.

Nobody talks about the real deal certification needs to bid or we’re to get them . We need the full tea 🍵
Agreed
That’s definitely me! Looking into this pilot program, now!

if I register for the plan. will I get my questions answered when I have them?

I’ve been in business for 15 years in HVAC. Will this help me on past performance?
Absolutely.

Hi Eric, I'm just starting government contracts. What video of yours should I start with??
subscription.gr8.com When you subscribe to my site you will receive a pdf handout with a list of videos and where to start.
Thanks, are you doing the consult project in your state only?
No. I actually consult outside of my state.
Thanks Eric!
Eric, that’s easier said than done when it comes to being a subcontractor. I live within 8 miles of an Air Force base, retired from there, and am still having a difficult time being brought on as a subcontractor.
Thanks Eric
Other then sending the capabilities statement, what other things should someone talk to them about for you to be on their radar?
All available opportunities
ok i think you just mentioned it. Do you know any mentors who are willing?
Yes mentors are everywhere, you just have to look for them.
For example if it was for 500 gloves can I state the experience from the supplier or sourced seller? I haven’t seen this in the past videos I’ve seen a majority of them.
No because the supplier experience is not yours. If it was a service contract and a subcontractor than yes.
I am really reaching here but I worked as a temporary employee for the DOJ for a government contractor (temporary agency). Could that count as past performance? Thanks for all that you do and I love your podcasts!

I could get a reference. But I can see that I’m reaching...I tried. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And, yes, I will definitely write a review. It’s the least I can do.

Only is you are a 1099 ... not as an employee
