    This looks like an absolutely great pattern for smallmouth and largemouth here in PA. Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks Sean! I like to fish this one on a floating line and 7 to 9' leader tapering to no less than 10 lb. I work it around the lily pads, brush piles and weed beds with a strip retrieve in long slow strips. Often they'll explode on the fly during the pause when the fly is dropping. As weedless as it is, I'll often retrieve the BOBW over the tops of lily pads, letting it drop into the open water gaps along the way. This has been really effective. Tight lines!

    Looks both easy to tie and durable-a great bass combo. Look forward to trying it.

      How do you fish this fly? Trying to figure out ways to fish for bass since I live closer to them as compared to trout.

    Nice video! I'm pretty new at fly fishing, but I've fished for bass for years. Do you have any tips on how to fish this particular fly?

    Great fly! How do you typically retrieve this? Do you let it sink like a plastic worm?

    • @theconfluenceflyshop5172
      @theconfluenceflyshop5172  6 років тому

      I do let it sink a little but also tend to fish it around heavy structure and vegetation. I'll often crawl it over the tops of lily pads and do a slow hand twist or slow pull retrieve through the open patches of water with the rod tip in or near the surface of the water. In the heat of summer, I find a more brisk paced strip retrieve to be pretty effective.

      For the record, that is a Renzetti Presentation 2000 Vise. It's basicly an upgrade to the Traveler. Both series are great vises!

    What weight fly rod do recommend using with your bog ol' bass worm?

    • @theconfluenceflyshop5172
      @theconfluenceflyshop5172  3 роки тому

      I generally fish a 7 or 8 weight for bass. This fly is very castable on a 6 weight, but I like the heavier rod to help power fish out of heavy cover.

    Hi Scott - nice tie ! I have a question : I tied one of these a few years ago and after fishing for a short while the chenille unfurled - leaving behind a loop. Needless to say, I caught no fish on it. Any tips on keeping the chenille wound together ? Thanks ! \ Brian :-)

      @theconfluenceflyshop5172  2 роки тому

      Hi Brian, I've never had that happen on any of mine. My guess is that the polar chenille wasn't twist up tight enough. You're going to want to twist it to the point where it's starting to pull back on itself towards the tie in spot. Twisting it tighter before folding it over and allowing it to furl should take care of the problem.

    What is the white taller item sitting on the table?

      It's an Ott Light magnifier and light. Can't see the light part in the video as there's a GoPro mounted on it. Picked it up at Michael's Crafts for a few bucks.

    A little constructive advise, not criticism. I like your style; you have good hands. However, since photography is light, your video setup needs improvement. More so, wearing light colored shirt -i.e. light blue or light green- will result on much needed contrast, improving overall video performance.

      Thank you for the feedback Al. The videos are certainly works in progress but we appreciate the suggestions for making them even better.

    Not to be over critical but the video was terrible. Stick with one camera that is just the fly in the vice. The over head view waa the worst!
