You must have seen that thing on internet where a restaurant asks for musicians to play for exposure where they answer that they offer a restaurant to come and cook at their place for free to promoten their restaurant. 😊
Playing for beer and chips is ok when you are a teenage band. Although my friends and I still do this by organising jam sessions. They are al pro's working musicians performing 5 to 7 nights a week. They don't need exposure. But just for the love of music they still do jam sessions to give others also a possibility to play with a band. It all depends.. 🤩
I do miss the opportunity to have a jam session every now and then. You find out a lot about yourself both musically and creatively. We may just have to do a video about that. Thanks for sharing!
@@dannyrobertsonmusicI been acustic solo act for years, got out of the gig scene a few years, now I'm back playing and I can't get any gigs hardly, I play weekly at Mexican restaurant, the first 3 times I played they gave me a meal and 100$ check, last week I got neither!!! It was even my better performance there! Connected with crowd, I got 69$ in tips! Played 2 hours. Not sure I wanna go back, still really disturbing to me, owner vanished on my last song!!! Go figure, waitresses not happy about my tips, I'm really upset. This is sickening to me
I'm a photographer, and I had a local musician reach out to me to photograph and film video of a performance.... for "credit"...
The irony...
I actually believe that is also an all too common occurrence. Sorry to hear that. If you're willing, would you share a link to your work?

Oh yes! Many times. There are at least a few of those types of stories and memes constantly circling the internet!

I will be heading to play a wedding this evening where I will both be paid and fed! It's very rare that I don't get both these days.
