Also, planning a trip with son who really wants to visit Japan but I hate huge crowds and just think Tokyo would drive me crazy but at least everyone is polite! Maybe just a couple of days there. Have been reading about a city ...like the Silicon Valley of Japan similar to Tokyo but smaller, less crowded and less expensive...maybe we'll try that. It's called Fukuoka and have found some hidden gem tours of Japan which do that area instead of Tokyo.
I ❤ Fukuoka and been there a few times due to work travels in the 90s. One of my favourite Japanese ports when it comes to food and entertainment and mom loves it too! Fond memories.😍💕⛩️🛣️
I always enjoy not only the scenic views, but the history you back it up with... That's what really sets your videos apart from most UA-cam travelers...
My husband toured the island of Okinawa several times while serving in the USMC for 20 years. Unfortunately it was always as "unacompany" duty, so I couldn't come along. Thank you for show casing your visit to this island even if it was just a little bit and the weather wasn't the greatest😊
Wow! What you probably weren't aware of is that this island is the most haunted places in the world! Thanks for all the amazing, great, and consistent videos guys!
Keenly following your excellent Japan series, picking up tips for our (me and my wife) trip to Tokyo and Kyoto this summer! Glad you’re having a great time with Chris’s parents!
Fascinating Place! Love the all of the temples in a jungle setting. Cool that it"s not busy like tokyo but a much mellower version of it'. Food looks really good. Enjoy! 😊
Another awesome video. I loved seeing your parents holding hands!❤Filming in the rain was just as interesting as if it were a clear day and I really liked that you did it. Great job and I love traveling with you!
Wow! I really enjoy your content. Please keep up the great work; the story about the history of Japan was incredibly fascinating. You seem to be an amazing couple with a great appreciation for exploration.☺ ❤🙏
As far as I heard, it was not Japan that invaded Ryukyu, the present day Okinawa, but Satsuma domain, the present day Kagoshima Prefecture. Satsuma domain also fought a war against the British, but they were defeated. Anyway, thanks for the video, as I've never been to Okinawa.
Welcome to Okinawa, Japan this weekend to tours this amazing city in Asia May of 2024❤❤❤I wish you guys safe journeys & good luck always in peace 2024❤❤❤
So glad u guys liked the raw liver! Most tourists wouldn’t even try it😂. Also the logo on the beer mugs doesn’t necessarily indicate the beer you ordered. It’s common use same beer mug for all their tap beer so most likely u guys ordered a different beer the second time.
The "Lion Dog" Statues, as you called them, are actually called Shi Shi Dogs. One of them has an open mouth for evil spirits to fly into, and the other has a closed mouth to trap the evil spirits. They are always displayed in two's for this reason, and you would never see two of them displayed with both having opened or closed mouths.
Interesting to see Shuri Castle. Okinawa was the largest battle of the Pacific War, and the most intense fighting took place around Shuri Castle and along the so-called 'Shuri line'.
Freeze frame at 9:33 and tell me if anyone sees a person in the flames, in the middle, just between the two dark roof elevations? I keep replaying it, and it is very clear!
think i know where you mean, looks like they slide down after the roof collapses? Just building material though probably, the building was already completely burnt at that point and there were no casualties as it started around 2 a.m
I suppose all I can say is when I went to Nha Trang in Vietnam once, one day it was sunny it was so ultra sunny so everyone went to the beaches, then the next day pours basically prevented human activity from going to the beaches, so the sunny-rainy culture in the Pacific Islands are very islands are very much at thought here!! 🤔😁
They don't know and lets keep it that way, too many influencers exposing and ruining EVERY beautiful area. Somethings are just perfect without the camera and videos. Appreciate the moment without all devices.
The best beaches in Okinawa aren't North of Naha as surmised by the narrator. The best beaches are well south of Naha, towards Nago, on the South China Sea/Western side of the Island.
@@JumpingPlaces One would think that having lived there for 4 years and having a map of Okinawa on my wall, that I wouldn't have made that mistake. I blame old age. :)
All TV channels cut abruptly to the announcement that North Korea had just fired a ballistic missile toward Okinawa and that people there should take shelter in concrete buildings.
Mount Suribachi was a Japanese stronghold, some of the last holdouts. Many Americans died attacking Suribachi. It has intricate tunnelling all over Suribachi. Just saying Tom Crosby YQR Regina, Canada
Great video... Makes me miss Japan.. This will help fill in the blanks on Japan history.( Yes I'm going to be off a little on numbers and dates.) Did you know as China was falling to the huns, that's what the great wall was for to stop invaders. And to be able, to signal, with fires and smoke for thousands of miles, what was going on. Well the Emperor's family was to danger of been killed. He lived in the forbidden city. The young boy Emperor, was Thought to be of God. And was night worshipped. As the plot to kill them grew closer. And his army could not hold back the invasion. 150.000, Chiness, and all of the empires family. Left China about 2500 years ago. They left by boat, they took half of the written Chinese language. And paddled away.....with no clue where they were going. The Empires faith rested on what the young emperor said.... They followed the sun.... The island they landed on had no people, a new land. Now it's called Japan. All Japanese, oldest names....will lead back to China. And China and Japan, had one of the bloodests wars... The only reason Japan's, empires army's did win was Americans, with held oil JAPAN HAD BOUGHT AND PAIDED FOR. And America,...left in China..fighter planes called tigers, they left AMO, cash... Chinese used the wepons against the Japanese, then they turned on the last empire of China's, family...and started a COMMIEST country... Then the sealed China's boarders to all out siders.. I might be off on a few points... In the state department USA . I was ordered to learn everything Asian, who hates who, why, how come. ECT ECT. Whitehouse got mad at me in 1975 I brokered a IMF rebuilding loan for Vietnam, the government of Vietnam, paid me 2%, of what I got them in bank loans... My fee, 2% was 2 billion cash. 😊
I imagine though Okinawa had to be rebuild because the American's bombed the island heavily during World War II and the Japanese hid in caves to survive

Okinawa has more to see and explore than i thought it would, especially that impressive castle and gardens that you and Carol visited.
yeah if we had good weather we would have been able to visit more places, a lot to do!
Great video as always. Chris you do an excellent job at calling out the names. So nice to see your parents still holding hands while walking.
Loving Okinawa - the Hawaii of Japan! Your parents are sooo cute, too! So nice that you can travel with them!
Great to see your mum and dad just walking hand in hand.
Beautiful! I love Carol’s dress. Stay safe and happy!

Another Awesome Adventure Thank You Chris & Carol🙂❤👍
I've been meaning to visit this amazing country for years .. glad to see it through your eyes for now😍
Definitely visit, such a big variety of things to do here :D
Okinawa is beautiful despite the rain. ❤ love how your parents still hold hands while walking Chris. 😊

Koniechiwa! Welcome to Japan!
Done Egypt , the tombs are special .
I went to the beach under the overpass. There's a part of the beach that's directly under the bridge so you can be sheltered if the sun is strong 😂
Hi Chris - Maybe go to Phu Quoc Island Vietnam 🙏✌

Another great video. You mentioned in a previous video that you are both tall, how tall are the two of you??
Your kids make great chill videos. No pun intended but holy cow, raw liver.
Honshu or Honshū ("main island"), historically called Akitsushima ("Dragonfly island").
Will you also go to Ishigaki and Yonagumi ?
Hmm even at the top , serious walls !
OMW , how long to build all those walls , all that time ago !
Is the ocean water here cold?

they look incredible :D

confused as when i search nago on google maps it is north of Naha?

no worries, made me think that there was another region called nago below haha

oops wrong island that was iwo jima near island tsc
Many Japanese also died
Iwo Jima is off limits to tourists
not big issue, in japan they rebuild shrines , palaces non stop
Their most important site burning down is still a big issue to the locals
Most Japanese I spoke to during my 15 years here said , Okinawa is not part of Japan.
Oh no , allergical to shell fish ? Can you get treatment :-) The lobster was cool !
