Whatever happened to the picture of the keyboard in chord memory that used to have the keys for the chord marked with red dots (as was the case with the Fantom X series)? I found that HUGELY helpful as it actually SHOWED you which keys to play if you wanted to play the cord on your own. This was a terrific teaching tool for budding keyboard players. The way it's currently implemented it just plays the chord for you without showing you how it's made. I hope they provide an update and reinstate the old implementation. It was perfect!

Hi Ed, Super review :-) I just really wonder why Roland didn't consider to implement a chord function for the pads, and making it possible for users to define their own chord set for the 16 pads, or maybe also mapping them to one octave on the keyboard.....

I’m not a good player at all and the chord function works to help me nicely! I can really mash some keys and make a pretty good part. Your technique here is helpful to me to get more use out of this function (I’m ingnant :) ). As always , your time and efforts are appreciated Senor Diaz...

We should be able to program different type of arpeggios or chord
memories and assign them in each zone of a scene and write the
configuration. This controllers section (arp, chord and transpose) is
very usefull but works too much indepedently. We need to customize and to
write different config of these controllers in each Scene.

Need to add a feature to set a user chord like 1-3-5 and have it play that shape over the whole keyboard, I am sure there was older Roland that had this? With the Jupiter, Juno, SH101 and JP emulations would be good to get this old school chord memory back.

Thank you .could the pads be used instead of the jog wheel to change the chord memory type ,major , minor ect ? This is because on the fly the jog wheel is a bit clumsy .Another way round would be to apply a chord to a scene .

Is there a way to alter the voicing of the chords. I also want to be able to split the key Ed to get the same instrument to give me keys in scale on the left and chords on the right. Another feature I want is more scale types that are modern. I want to use chords with T-Rec and also use chords on the pads.

4:05 how would i use it? Assuming features include "keyboard hold" I would control the volume of the chords with an expression pedal that is also my kick-drum pedal. That way the correct modal chords would jump out with the kick pedal like the chords in this video (programmed parallel harmonies from the Nord, not modal like the Roland). ua-cam.com/video/jWODl6AZ8y0/v-deo.html

This may be interesting for what it is, but what it ain't is chord MEMORY! Those are chord PRESETS following a scale, which is cool but Chord MEMORY is when you ENTER a chord / voicing of your own and the keyboard memorizes and transposes that and that's what the Fantom doesn't do at all. Day #2 with my new Fantom and this is another letdown after discovering the broken aftertouch, the odd sequencer with "non-linear/clip based" as the only option, the convoluted and only half thought through effects routing in scenes and the massive lack of "expressions", the few "supernatural" sounds don't seem to integrate their "variations" in any way like Yamaha does.

Come on... are you kidding? this is not cool at all. Are you talking about a Roland Fantom 2019 ????
Please tell me how to edit the chord memory?

Sorry Mr Diaz...but Pro Keyboardists will “Never” use a function like chord memory....did Roland borrow Casio’s engineers in designing the New Fantom?

Could be useful using a guitar sound to simulate strumming.
