About the constant switching to the knife: in Counter-Strike you move faster when you have the knife equipped, so if you want to reposition yourself and can do so safely, switching to the knife can earn you some valuable time. However, when it comes to the switching after shooting a sniper rifle, this goes back to previous CS games, where switching from your sniper to your pistol or knife, after a shot, would reset the shooting cycle faster than waiting for the animation to play out. CS rounds aren't long, so any splitsecond you can save can end up winning you the round, just as wasting any splitsecond can result in you losing the round.
Yeah the thing with the sniper and knife is that when after taking a shot you quick switch to your knife and back to your primary (bind key: q) becasue normally after rechambering it goes back to scoped in and you have very limited vision, can't adjust, can't escape back to corner to avoid being re-fraged etc
In the game your movement speed is dependant on the weapon, knife is fastest movement speed. So if they need to move or get out of dodge (and they aren't going to shoot back) they swap to knife to reposition or get safe faster. Edit*2: swapping disables the auto zoom on the bolt actions (so better awareness for next shots) Edit: also weapon swapping can cancel some animations making it faster to put a follow up shot. Most often used to cancel sniper bolt animations in OLDER CS games
I think I remember the Luck or Skill commentator saying that switching to the knife cancels the animation for pulling the bolt. Unsure if it’s the same with reloading. Also glad to see Izzy and Cameron again!
Edit: on older versions of CS this was a thing, now it doesnt do it. (Zeros comment below is the main reason in CS GO) Doesn't work with reloading, works with single shot weapons to cancel follow up animations. It's an engine thing with how the guns are programmed.
You could shave milliseconds off the AK reload if you swapped to a different weapon right before the reload animation finished. Only ever did it with the AK so don’t know if it’s possible with other weapons or if it got patched. Haven’t played in years

You do cancel the animation yes but the time the game lets you shoot another round is the same as if you would let the animation play out fully. Also the reason people switch out to the knife after every shot is to prevent the automatic scope in after the loading of a new round in the awp is done.
4:57 in old cs 1.6 when you shot with awp you need to charge it again logically but if you switch to your knife you can stop that delay they did fix it but it passed thru to csgo players

This was really awesome to watch CS:GO in the perspective of the spec-ops each player emulates in the game. Hoping you do another CS:GO react but with pros and their strategies. P.S. The thing about using flashes as a distraction holds true kind of in CSGO as well, but in the form of decoys (fake flashbangs). You can only carry one of each grenade type at a time so you need to make it count and using a real flash as a distraction isn’t typically worth it, especially if you can throw a fake instead and hold onto your flash
they're pressing Q on the keyboard to cycle weapons and it's just something everyone does over time.. some weapons used to be reloaded faster in the older games by starting the reloading animation and cycling back and forth.
When changing weapon to another on or to knife or grenade the number keys up top of the keyboard is the shortcut to switch your equipment 1 for primary weapon 2 for your knife 3 for grenade And so un I only tried the older version of counter strike but yeah thats the way of faster switch

I've suggested Kinga to watch it from survival perspective and suggested using SourSweet's footage. Now I also suggest SourSweet's videos, especially the ones about sniping.

The game never allowed you to shoot a round faster if you cancelled the reload animation( the game lets you shoot at the same time whether you cancel the animation or let it play out fully) The reason you see people switching to the knife after every single awp shot is to cancel the automatic scope in you get after the guy loads a new round into the chamber. The other reason is that the movement speed of your character is tied to the current gun you have in your hands in other words knife=faster movement speed. Cancelling reload animations on other weapons is probably a bad idea( there are times since they can be distracting when its good also it's a habit to a degree) but generally you have a chance of cancelling it too early and not actually reloading the weapon you're trying to and screwing yourself over.

I find that people who always play CSGO, will play badly when playing other FPS games like Battlefield or R6 Seige. Let's face it, CSGO has unrealistic physics with bullets that can travel perfectly straight across maps and has unlimited range. Other games, bullets won't even travel in a straight line and will drop after a certain distance. They will also forgot to ADS even when shooting a pistol.
