Seeing the death of that shoe really got me when i first saw that when i was a kid. That was the first time i ever seen an actual cartoon character die legitimately. Hearing the shoe's final wimpering really had me. I remember i teared up. I liked that shoe, especially his bonk sound he makes.
well it was in the original book, Roger was a shodow of himself or something like that and had to solve his murder before he faded. the author liked the movie so much that in his sequel he made the first book into a dream
I love Who Framed Roger Rabbit because of how fun it was and Roger was awesomely hilarious 😂. I’m glad they decided to have him live.😮💨 I also love the movie more now because of how much I understand Eddy now. Truly a deep character in the film. Also I do like it because of Jessica.😅❤️
The original end was probably an attempt to try and stay faithful to the book, because in the book, Roger actually does die, fairly early on as a matter of fact, and the rest of the story was about Eddie trying to find out who murdered Roger.
Then get this, they have an ENTIRE second finished draft for a sequel movie telling the origin story of Roger Rabbit, but it never got released for a handful of reasons, one of them being it was too adult mature like for involving cartoons
Source please? The origional novel had him dead early on with his doupleganger dying at the end. The movie was never going to adapt any of that from what I have learned and always started heavily in a direction closer to what we got despite many drafts being made. I'd like to know at what point this was the case and exactly what was planned. You share almost nothing so please cite your o Source on this click bait.
All those examples we’re innovative for their time but are still flat as they just have the actors stand in front of green screen and do very little or nothing else, this film was a step beyond any of that having characters swerving around the actors and having them shift the camera in all three dimensions to make it seem like they’re really there
The interaction between the cartoon characters and the actors was far greater than in any previous movie. Both in terms of screen time and in physical contact. Practical effects were used to enhance the interaction, such as Eddie's coat bulging when he's hiding Roger, and Roger spitting out real water. The movies you mention were groundbreaking but Roger Rabbit went to another level.
Who's the original villain? In the book, it's the doppelganger trying to frame Eddie. Original draft I heard it was Jessica Rabbit and Baby Herman before landing on Judge Doom.
I wouldn't be able to watch it multiple times but then again Yondu was my favorite gotg character but volume two is my favorite movie and...the ending happens...
Not unthinkable! Mary Poppins '64, Oscar to Julie Andrews; Bedknobs & Broomsticks '71 Angela Lansbury, Poppins' David Tomlinson; My Dream Is Yours '49 Doris Day, Eve Arden; etc. WFRR used it more.
That would have been pretty bad, as the death of the cartoon shoe 👞 as the demonstration of the ‘dip’, would probably have been bad enough. As audiences, most like to see the good guys winning and alive and have the bad guys lose, if necessary die, but at least lose.
Fantastic film another fella I didn't know died in real life gutted. And the film dog I think it's called dog the fella who is a killing machine puts a lead on he's neck like a dog gose into the fighting thing says the word kill and he fights amazingly fantastic and to defeat he's aponent. Then the young lady and the fella who fixes the pianos teachers the man who's like a human dog trained to kill marshal arts fighting fantastic the sound of the music when he's mum played .she hid him in the coubord and the man witnest hes mums murder . The music melody in the film and the way it was all set out fantastic this man was init . It's crazy when you love people in films and they disappear and you find out they died in real life. kind of kicks the hell out of you like 1st time you hear they died boomer man love these films Jessica were you think it's her 😅😅😅 but its not😂😂😂 the guffy fearit laughing going to heaven really get in grossed in films back then heehee this was one of them wish i knew the name of that film i was on about
"Rodger was supposed to die" Cool... care to elaborate? Like, how was it written? Why was it changed? Was it just the script or was some shots taken of said death? Way to deliver info without giving any info 👍
"Imagine how traumatizing that would have been" *puts up picture of shoe*
Bro that scene still makes me so uncomfortable to this day hahaha
Me too!
I like this scene
I like this Scene, it was sad but great done
Same here. The boot-dipping scene still distresses me.

I literally started crying during that scene and I was also traumatized, the shoe did not deserve it😢😢😢😢
The scene where Doom dips the boot has always upset me.
Yep. Childhood truma for most 😅

Wow, yeah, I would have been heartbroken if he died at the end. Forget about re-watchability.
I know right! Me too! Thanks for stopping by 👍
I mean, he does die in the book, so it makes sense. Then again the book plot is WILD and a lot was changed in the film

An all round great film for sure!
I agree with all you said 🤞
Same here
Poor Roger rabbit, he’s a Nice guy
It would have been more accurate to the original novel, but all things considered, they did the right thing
Yeah, I can't fault the movie. I love it the way it is.
This movie is underrated
The original end was probably an attempt to try and stay faithful to the book, because in the book, Roger actually does die, fairly early on as a matter of fact, and the rest of the story was about Eddie trying to find out who murdered Roger.
In the novel the movie was based on "Who censored Roger Rabbit?" Roger did die.
Fun Fact: A guy in NYC did exactly this ~74 prior in 1924, merging live action and cartoon characters with sound.
What's it called?
@@quest2782 I forgot but the animator was named Max Fleischer
There’s at least one Betty Boop and one Popeye cartoon short that did this back then
@@Quartermaster323 same guy, wrong character
Hybrid cartoons have a long history. The Alice shorts in the 1920s for example.
But why the shoe at the end?? 😂 I could hear that picture! 😢
no not the shoe
Top film !
I agree. Very enjoyable 👍
In the book he was killed.
Then get this, they have an ENTIRE second finished draft for a sequel movie telling the origin story of Roger Rabbit, but it never got released for a handful of reasons, one of them being it was too adult mature like for involving cartoons
My Favorite Cameo in Who Framed Roger Rabbit BETTY BOOP.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍💘💘💘💘💘💘💘❤❤❤
Haha! Yep, she's Great!

The original book had him die, so that makes sense, but they changed a lot between movie and book
It's not that it was the first to do it.. it was the first to do it the way it was done.
I wish they did more with Roger rabbit. I like him and his adventures and I'm curious about the story of how he and his gf got together
Yeah, he is a fun character. I too would have liked to have seen more...
The unthinkable? What about mary poppins, Pete's dragón, song of the south?
even earlier, 1945. Anchors Aweigh has a dance sequence with Gene Kelly and Tom&Jerry.

@@VideoSmarts1 none of those were mostly done with green screen

Roger died in the original book.
He dies in the book.
Another UA-camr I watch really likes Jessica Rabbit
Oh yeah, a kids movie. :)
I love this movie
Well *spoilers* he does die in the first book
I wouldn't be able to watch it multiple times but then again Yondu was my favorite gotg character but volume two is my favorite movie and...the ending happens...
It was already done with Pete’s Dragon in 1960 something. Look it up folks
The Unthinkable? Real-life actors with cartoons in 1988?
As far back as silent movies. Watch Max Fletcher reels
Watch that movie before when it's older I
😳
Thank god they did not kill him, that would have made kids sick and destroyed the movie entirely!
