Hay dear Mike.
Sometimes my successor engineers mailing me to say thanks of my good maintained after years because i do some upgrade on so many machineries and i write procedure on logbook like what you made ☝
In the case of chemical pumps i cut pvc or pp material sheets and putting there before assembling also i try putting layer of silicone mastic (mazda) on all surfaces you noted.

I have a question for you, on a VLCC what are 4th engineer duties? And do these duties are different from ship to another?

+amaakjb Hello at this VLCC i work we have two third engineers.Every day one of them is on duty .Everything is simular like the other ships nothing changes.Only the size of the ship is bigger space and engine more bigger.Everything same other tankers.Bigger cabins for 2nd engineer and Chief engineer.
At port they have 6 to 6 duties.
