I installed a gas strut on the pump compartment door a soon as I got home with it. I just knew I’d eventually hit it lowering the dump box. What I like about the chains for the doors is I can twist them and keep the door close to the body when transporting my tractor with the box blade. Solar charger needs a controller. It will boil the battery. Upgrade the charger on board to higher amps per hour. They come with a 1 or 1.5 amp. I added an 8 amp for $40. Nice trailer. I bought mine at Kelly’s too.

Link to the $40 charger upgrade?

I have the the Deckover dump version of this trailer. The major advantages to the Sure Trac (or H&H; same trailer w/heavier floor) are 1. They Include rear Stabilizer pockets. This is major for loading heavy equipment. Most dump trailers do Not offer the pockets, hoping you will buy a separate equipment trailer from them, when the dump trailer could obviously do both. Next, 2. Sure Trac (and H&H) utilize Tube frame construction. This doesn't Look as beefy as the i-beams used by most other manufacturers, but it is much more resistant to torsion (twist/flex) And it offers noticeably reduced weight. Like 500#s less weight. That makes an actual difference, over the I-beam style. I do small excavation... thanks but i already have Enough steel to drag around town. Lastly (3), Sure Trac offers the level of fit and finish you expect from a national company. This isn't true across the board, and regional manufacturers will still ask the same $$ for spotty welds and little cheap-outs like small tongue jacks and ....no Stabilizer pockets. (that being said, the underbed of my own brand new H&H is showing rust taking off right on the bed itself and the unit is brand new, got it home last fall, but hasn't been out on the road even once.. not sure how i'm gonna handled it-). Now, as to this review and your trailer... I might wait on the solar charger. For one, the truck does charge it some while driving. It sounds like your battery was low to begin with. Deep cycle batteries can go way down and thus take long to trickle up. I don't know if the solar will overcharge, or if you even need it. Also, 2.. your dealer should replace your door chain to the correct length, sounds like assembly messed up. Alternately, you could add a chain link that screws closed to the keeper on the bedside. Just screw it closed there and leave it.. simple and let's anyone hooking the door open know where to hook to.... Now Last... this is kind of a thing with me, it's becoming an Internet misnomer (myth) that Telescoping cylinders are the best method for dumping. I'm sorry, that is straight up bs. Sure, it's easy to see that less leverage is required up front, but guess what, this is Hydraulics! We're talking about Power, not what is the best spot to lift for your grandma. These unique cylinders won't be easy to source when they eventually sh*t the bed. And they have three seals, not one, being used in an abrasive environment. No thanks, ill stick with my Industry-proven simple cylinder Scissor lift. It's just a generic cylinder that can be had from any of many producers in any field. Only has One seal and easy for any Hydraulic shop to rebuild. Also, that telescoping until requires like 3xs as much oil volume, which means your pump drains your battery 3xs as fast.... my point here is don't feed into this nonsense about the Telescoping being for sure the best. Yeah, nope. Get back to me in 5-10yrs. Dump trucks have stuck with Scissors for decades, it's not by accident. (and yes telescoping cylinders have been around just as long, they're cheaper for the manufacturer ultimately, in the end) Just gotta lay this urban legend to rest, since it's a load of crap (tho it is somewhat the result of undersized scissors a few years back). Today, if your trailer dumps a full weight load it's all good. Just bear in mind what i've said, going down the road, so to speak. (oh, yeah, that spare placement is ridiculous. There's a tub under the bed on all Sure tracs if you wanna just stow it there for the time being. Handy spot for tools and shovels etc..) Cheers, n thanks for the review 👍

i researched for 2 months about dump trailers and settled on southland SL714-16k. al around, its just a better built dump trailer than most. definitely get more for your money. i bought mine 4 months ago and have been using it mainly for concrete work and havent had a single issue. for my uses, i got the 8 ton axles so my payload is 12,860 lb. i only keep it around 10k lbs as i want to keep this trailer around for the long haul plus theyre not getting any cheaper. i paid $10,500 for the trailer and after licensing and taxes it came to $14k-ish. dont feel like dropping that much coin again anytime soon so i did preventive maintenance when i got my trailer home. i washed it, blew out all the nooks and crannies with air and then douched anywhere i thought dirt, salt and water would collect and sit with spray paint. i do hose down the trailer after every other job depending on what im doing and where im going and how dirty it gets.
about 5 yrs ago, alot of people started buying big wrecks (big tex) and now regret it as most trailers look like their at the end of their lives because of the amount of rust that was painted over when new. alot of those trailers have patches jobs because areas have rusted thru. big wrecks should be ashamed at the product they put out. anything mass produced will have flaws but the amount of rust that comes with big wrecks is unacceptable. theres other people on yt with the same experience of big wrecks rusting way too soon.
remember, preventive maintenance to keep what you have.

Three years later, I just got a 12 foot 2023 version and my left chain is also too short. It's my first trailer so I thought it was user error on my part 😂

My buddy is looking at the same trailer with the twin pistons it’s a 2021 .... thanks for the feedback looks like your happy with it. He was looking for information from anyone who had one. They gave him a price under 8000 for either single extending piston or the twin pistons. I’ve had the twin pistons 14 yrs been trouble free.at work we have all the front mount extending and they leak over time the sections are on top of each other and for some reason rust gets in there and the chrome pits . They are expensive to rebuild or replace . I tend to keep my trailers 10-20 years so I wanted the cheap easy to replace 36” universal cylinders...

DS TRUCKS Yes they do. The scissor lifts are weak they are basically a 1 ton dump setup adapted to a dump trailer they won’t lift a full load of stone or dirt . I’ve used mine to move top soil on my property (21 acres) and I’ve loaded it really good , only one time did it not lift immediately , it took a few seconds to get going . I probably had 8-10 tons in it we were moving the dirt about 1000 feet .... my 3/4 ton Duramax had to be in 4 Lo to move it across the grass lol

Its called a Bwise trailer the one you are talking about. Im looking into buying a dump trailer as well... doing research at the moment. People say good things about your suretac for having a decent paint job on them and not rusting so fast compared to other ones. I am looking for this exact trailer but I thought price wise they are closer to 8 grand ?!

He’s right on the money with cost... pun intended. I just bought one today and out the door like he said, with spare tire and tax / fees it was 9,700 dollars. I bought it in central Florida. List price was 8,799 dollars.

I just got the 7x12 2021 model of this trailer and I was wondering how your top board is cut to accommodate the tarper? Also on mine they welded a chain link on both sides of the trailer for the door chains to hook to.

I have the same trailer in the gray powder coat. Overall I like mine EXCEPT! the fact that the tarp kit setup is in the trailer versus that outside like other brands it can be a hassle. And you have to watch how you load the front. Otherwise it gets in the way of getting the tarp out. Bad design. Also other brands have much better and bigger tongue tools boxes.

    • @DS-TRUCKS

I noticed that too. I guess it's to accommodate the cylinder, tarp is better on the scissor lift
