As you say in “profit” to consider a true profit remove cost of the operation of the truck as in payments, insurance and maintenance, not just fuel. Then factor cost of the trailer. As you stated you have these paid but the initial cost still remains for an upstart, then any insurance and if your local municipality requires a license to operate the business. Add together then subtract costs this would then become the true profit margin. Definitely a good days wage. The upstart costs is where I’m at been doing the math and making the connections, so far I have a few very good leads and chasing down the dollar for the equipment. It’s a challenge but I see the worth behind it.
Very good points indeed. I should have clarified and said gross profit, not net since that would take into consideration my fixed costs such as equipment, licensing, and insurance. I think it is worth it!
Great Job! Foreclosure trash outs were huge about 10 years ago. The foreclosure market will come back, unfortunately, and you will be set for business. I've done hundreds of them and most of them make me sad but make me money!
Usually it is an all-inclusive price. Unless I rent the trailer out as a dumpster and then I allow for 1 ton, anything over I charge the customer overage fees.
Sir a super cool and fast way to do trash outs is with canvas drop cloth and have have hand loop sewn on each corner it will quadruple your labor saving
Awesome, thanks! First job took a week or two to book. It was friends and family first, then once I built up google reviews we started getting more organic work. Good luck!
Why dont you junk removal guys ever take in scrap metal. You had more than enough for a full load. It free money and you dont have as many dump fees with the other stuff. Id like to hear one actually good reason for not going to the scrap yard.
Short answer is time. My nearest scrap yard is 30 minute drive plus I have to separate it all and sort it, build up enough to make it worth a trip. By that time what they pay is not worth it for me right now. One day I plan to have a separate scrap pile or bin I will fill over time and make a trip once it’s full, but for now I don’t have the space for that.

Thank you so much 😁 It's a good feeling for sure.
Love watching your content as I am getting into junk removal myself, keep up the great work man you’re killing it
Thanks so much dude! What part of the country are you looking to do it in?
Great Job!

Great point! This was definitely one of my more profitable and fun jobs, I like the bigger ones. I’m sure they will be back when things get bad again.
Get a wireless remote. I have one on my 7x14 and love it. An Amazon winch remote will work. If you're power up and power down you'll need resistors.
Thanks for the tip!
I also have tundra and what size dump trailer would you buy for that truck if you were doing again ?
Probably a 7x14. My 6x12 is nice but a little extra space would be nice. Reason I bought my size was to park in my garage at night though.
Just wondering if you charge additional for the dump fees or is that included in your quote?

Glad to see you got this job!
Thanks, me too! Being in with some real estate agents is clutch.
Good Job man! Respect! I can’t want to get up and running myself.
Thank you, and you can do it! Hardest part is taking the first step and committing.

Great tip! I have never thought of doing something like that, seems very efficient!
I just subbed! How long did it take u to get a job when u got started with junk?
Awesome, thanks! First job took a week or two to book. It was friends and family first, then once I built up google reviews we started getting more organic work. Good luck!
Hey Reese, been busy with jobs. Sent an email but also wanted to stop by and say thanks for the advice from Minneapolis 🙏
Ahh, Minneapolis. Awesome man. I got your email, so glad to hear of your success, Allan!

You should look to invest into an angle grinder! Will help with those locks and safe. Dual purpose.
Thanks, I'll have to check one out.
Popcorn machine and tvs yu coulda sold forsure.
That popcorn machine was pretty nasty….
$1200 is a bit low that’s a lot of stuff and traveling unless you do your dump fees separate then $1200 in labor is perfect.
Yea true, my prices were too low back then. I have since raised them considerably.

I made about $1000 in scrap so far this year. And that’s nothing.
Before I scrapped Metal I would list it on FB for free to save lots of dump fees. Someone will come get it.
@@danthejunkman That's a lot of money! I need to rethink scrapping!
Great job.
Thanks, appreciate the encouragement and views!
We have got to do a much better job of recycling or re-using materials in this country. WAY too much stuff going to the dump.
Totally agree. I divert what I can but overall the problem is also cheap, disposable goods.
You should see the brand new stuff stores throw away
I work at HD and can confirm.
New sub🤙🏼
