This trail is not for everyone but I think you'll like it!

- Today’s ride at Murphy-Hanrehan Park, will give me a chance to test my ankle on a trail I don’t consider too tough. Murphy is a bit more old school cross country with some nice rooty and rocky sections. It is a good opportunity for me to work on my fitness as well.

Murph is my favorite! I wish I lived closer. I love the XC feel to it, and I think you're hard pressed to find a prettier ride in the summer time. Great video!
The raw trail feel is what I really enjoy. It's in my top 3 in the metro.
Good stuff! Haven't been to Murphy in a while! Need to go back!
Thanks. It is fun.
I live on the South-East corner of Murphy so I can ride from my front door - I do love this trail, but I do need to ride other places so I don't get board. Good thig Leb is only 6 miles away. Great video! See ya on the trail.
That's great access. You have to switch it up. I got burned out on Elm Creek because I was there too much. Now I ride someplace different each weekend.
@@BrianVaughn I'm planning to head up north in July and ride as many trails as I can, including RedHead in Chisholm and Giants Ridge. We always ride Mission Creek near Jay Cooke SP on the way up North.
@WJK99 I haven't ridden there in past couple years. I'll be sure to get there again.
@@BrianVaughn I was riding Elm Creek a few times a season 5 years ago. Now it's a long drive - going to have to do a weekend morning this season, I'm sure there's lots of new stuff there in the last 5 years.
I've not been here in a while... but it looks like its riding nice! I was hoping you'd do the skinny "Of Death" as I've not seen anyone do it ever. I can get up on it but not go through the whole thing. There are ways to session it too... well maybe Ill get over there yet this year, but no jumps there so not in my schedule! Thanks!
I was out there a couple years back with Kris Yahner and Travis Kolbo and they both did it.
@@BrianVaughn Yeah I think I can do it. I have a old video on my channel of me getting up on half way then flopping over...in a good way. It just takes FOCUS.
Good times buddy!! 😊😊
You know it
Great trail for a hardtail or even a ridged bike.
Agreed! No big sends here that require rear suspension. Speed helps too.
The Leb like stair climb is an interesting addition. I’m always nervous to go here as I usually end up going after that super long sorta high skinny which for me is always a puckery scenario.
I've only seen two people clean that skinny, Travis and Kris. Not really worth it in my opinion. Murphy is a nice trail that is still in my top 3 in the metro.
Hi Brian. In Puerto Rico right now. Will watch when I get back. Take it easy. Healing is slow.
Have fun! Hopefully you are enjoying the beach and a drink with an umbrella in it!
Doing everything!!
Cool trails Brian. It's good to switch it up sometimes. I find that adding speed to anything can make it more interesting and difficult.
Speed will do that. Pushing the speed will make any trail more fun. Thanks!
Tried excell tonight, and wishing I would have drove the extra 10 minutes to Murphy. Excell was tooooo loose! I don’t like the gravel everywhere. I think there’s good opportunities for learning pumping and entry level jumping but I probably won’t go back unless I have to. Glad you got out to Murphy!
Yeah, it's more about improving than about getting in a good ride.
Have not tried Murphy yet. I will have to get out there and check it out.
I recommended it! I think it is a fun ride!
I rode Ridgeline in pisgah this weekend which I loved. Then I tried Kanuga and found the speed/jumps had me feeling not in full control of the bike. A lot of great tips in this video. Thanks for the information. (I'm from Florida and this was my first time riding in the mountains)
I've only seen videos on both but Kanuga looks advanced. Getting out and riding new places will make you a better rider and bet those jumps at home won't look as scary after Kanuga.

Thanks for the reply. This trail does look awesome.
Need to get out here soon again. Was it true they tamed it down and took out a bunch of the rocks and smoothed out a lot of the trails
So I think that happened after I was there. I saw on Facebook something happened but I think it was Sunday/Monday and I was there Saturday. Sounds like it was in that last rocky section of the black loop.
