Crazy to see Chip McNeill as first tenor - I've been been to several jazz camps with him as one of the teachers and have played in the band he directed. Great guy, monster player.
YES! So, augusta university hosts jazz bands and I just played in one of them. He directs the high school and uni band. I was in the middle school band and he came to play a tune for us with gum in his hand! I even got a chance to solo in front of him during the f blues section. The fact that he nonchalantly whips out licks is crazy.
I honestly didn’t know the bass could reach that level of depravity lol. That was the nastiest. I just found this. And this will be how I blow the speakers out in my rig. Just nasty.
My favourite music video of all time. I wish singers could sing like these instruments. (I know some of them do, but never in a collaboration such as this)
Loved the transcription, but a slight mistake I noticed: In the singing at 3:18, he doesn't say "I'm gonna pick em out ..." but says "I'm gonna pick up my trombone ..." :)
Can we take a second to appreciate how damn good that bass trombonist is👌🏻💯 As a high school bass trombonist myself I love his tone it’s inspiring Love from Sweden
LOL until Measure 38 I felt it totally wrong; I wasn't looking at the screen while I was listening so I thought the horn hits were on 1 and 2 so when measure 38 happened it was jarring and I thought I was missing something
@@nateh7674 I'd say it is, ecpeccially if it's with a monster soloist, now that I'm on wifi though the music at the timestamp is the bass bone part there (but the transposition is missing the third going up in the arpeggio), but that's just a snippet of the full part.
bro at 4:22 the sax has no ligature 0.0 Is this a normal thing and dude has like a synthetic reed that's somehow connected to the mouthpiece or does he have a sleeve of some sorts?
This thread XD (For April 1 I would find it appropriate though, someone who can't read asks for the song name which is in the description and in the video closing titles... And then the author answers with random gibberish)

First thing I noticed in this video was him in the background, too!
they've got Wayne Bergeron back there on trumpet too, stacked ensemble
as soon as i saw him, i started looking for a comment like this!
Funnily enough, the other tenor in this band is my jazz director in high school right now
Uno jazz camp? Because I was in his band at that camp recently
Oh damn i thought i pressed on a George Collier video. Good stuff, keep it up!👍
honestly same
Haha, thanks! Didn't expect the man himself to be here
Yeah, questioning myself whether I find this okay… I mean, getting inspired is great, but copying 100%? Not sure.

Got the chance to play this with Wycliffe in 2019! Hearing him in person is MIND BLOWING

I played a church gig with Wycliffe one time... still can't really believe it.
Gonna be playing with this dude tomorrow at the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. It’s such an honor
How'd it go?
@@jimbo_bomberino8606 very fun, such an epic giy
One of the rare men -- for whom I will raise my hat. Huh.. I must listen this again!
when the whole band is invited to the cookout
that bass bone pedal near the end... oh my godddd
The other trombone player just bursting out laughing at this note...

There is just a feeling of pure "Rythmic Stability" with this song. Your ears and brain just melt with satisfaction.
0:56 hey that’s my old jazz director lmao, i do remember watching this stream with the rest of different bands and we were cheering for hom
Oh shoot, you went to Carroll too?
@@tooshietom couple years ago now, yeah!
the last chord of this is amazing, i could listen to that alone all day 5:03
The seeming ease and total clarity at 3:31 just blows my mind. I think of myself as a pretty good trombone player but damn!
Wycliffe is absolutely one of the contemporary jazz GOATS!!!!!

Two days ago, I just say Wycliffe at temple jazz fest, absolutely amazing performance.
Thank you for using bass clef through the whole thing. I can read things
Edit: i can read more than bass clef now
Thx for sharing. That is epic !
this is one of the most awesome things i've ever seen
Wonderful transcription, one of the best I've seen in a while.
0:12 that was a wet one 🎵
These channels just making me realise I miss playin Jazz

That B-bone player though😩😫😩😫
Put some STANK on it, baby. Oh my gosh he put so much STANK on it. The most soulful music you'll ever hear
Maniacal 4 is the trombone section, v nice

ryan anthony is my uncle, i am so honored to be a part of the family and rip
Is that the Maniacal 4 for the trombone section?! 👀
It is indeed. Great to see and hear them all on the same band stand!
Wow that was very great
2:47 fun fact: on the sheet music it literally says "THE BASSES BABY!!!!!!!!!!"
Yo do you have the whole bass bone part you could share?
@@nateh7674 no I was bone 2

@@ryan_1314 Yeah I was playing that part on my bass bone and it was fire, along with the juicy pedals at the end I want to try and play it.
Crazy to see Dr. Justin Pierce on the sax solo!! He was my jazz instructor through college!!!
"what even is this?" that's flutter tonguing, or the back of the throat 'r' growl thing. I can't quite tell which, but one of those two.
🥳
En faite Gordon le tromboniste c'est quel un je ne peux pas expliquer c'est un incroyable vrai
The diggeridoo sound is multiphonics. Play one note, sign another.
It started and then it was over
I just realized what those 8's were above the staff. Those were all up an octave. 0_O

Great stuff. the trumpet notes are a bit off but honestly the rhythm is all you need. the notes could figure themselves out
Homie stank facing at 3:46 lol
Yo is that trombone section maniacal 4
Yessir
Flutter tongue. It’s fun as shit and confuses the hell out of the audience!
Man you should be writing this guys music in trebble with how high he plays
4:31
1:30 you should have actually changed the key signature for alto sax players cause you can't play a B to a Cb since its the same thing basically
2:23 did he just say the n word
xD
Who's on fourth trumpet? I think the back row left-right is Ryan Kisor, Wayne Bergeron, Joe Bergstaller, and.....?
Are those trombones the Maniacal 4?
wow
Can we get a pdf?
FOR Someone who plays in bass cleff you sure got alot of wrong notes for trombones

This kind of trombone playing seems so unsophisticated.
