A little video about the possible thoughts Niles and CC had after he proposed until she said yes. The scenes are mostly from the final episode, and includes some scenes from homevideos Fran shared during the Nanny reunion. I know that they're from Lauren's baby shower but they fit perfectly since we didn't get to see CC's pregnancy. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

I cried when she said I would love to marry you and he opened the liftdoors for her, they are everything together!
He had a heart attack at the end of season 4, and there are references to him being out of shape...but he opened those doors! And for the last few episodes before that, he and CC have been...involved, and from what we know about their relationship, it would require...physical stamina. Maybe the references to him being out of shape are a joke, same as the ones to her being ugly?
Although when he first proposes she scorns the idea of marrying someone not of her background, before then, she had already gone on dates with him - some of which she had asked for - almost demanded (and it was almost like the writers of the season 6 episode where he proposed didn't remember that.) Part of me wished they'd had her propose to him - it would have gone along with her asking him on dates, and with his joke at the end of the series that "Miss Fine got the man of her dreams and I got the man of mine."
They were perfect for each other. I rooted for them for years and cried when they finally got together. Thank you for this great video.

I hated how they sped up their relationship near the end. Especially the wedding. It didnt feel worthy enough. Those two made a huge part of the show.

Well, in Season 4 they had them start to fall for each other (she gets dumped before something formal, and offers him money to be her date - that is that episode shown here where they are dancing - and then he refuses the money by tearing up the check). And also at the end of Season 4 Niles had a heart attack and CC was actually quite upset. Butt when Lauren got pregnant they had CC go to a mental asylum when it was time for Lauren to give birth. It was partly supposed to be because Max had proposed to Fran by that point - but I think Niles being meaner to her helped "break" her. And then in Season 6 they seemed to be getting friendlier again, throughout the series. If Season 4 could have gone into Season 6 without that interruption, the progression toward a relationship would have felt better, so Sara Smiles has a point - but the relationship wasn't "out of nowhere" - there were always hints of a "charge" between them. It almost would have been better to SAY CC was pregnant when Lauren was, and have them together at that point!
The other thing was, CC was given a line in the second-to-last episode of the series about how her relationship with Niles is physically extremely satisfying, and "that is the joy of being with a man who lives to serve others." But Niles was often shown to be resentful of his "lot in life" serving others (and took it out by mean and manipulative, and not always just to CC.) But did he only dislike being a butler because he assumed CC would look down on him for it, and pass him over for someone more "successful"?
I agree, the wedding in the hospital was silly. If CC weren't pregnant, those two really didn't need to "rush" to get married, because CC was self-sufficient. Given CC and Fran's history, it's hard to believe Fran would tolerate CC in her delivery room like a member of the family. But I actually understand CC's resentment of Fran, because Max was so "taken" with Fran and didn't really acknowledge CC, even as a business partner. She got cool opportunities for the business and Fran often messed them up. So the wedding in the hospital feels like, "Even on CC's wedding day, she has to share the spotlight with Fran."
Given what we know of CC's family, she might not want them at her wedding, and they might not want to see her marry "the butler." It would have been great if CC and Niles could have flown off to London to be married with Niles' family there.

I understand that the original draft of the script for Fran and Max's wedding had CC tell Niles that while at "the place" she learned she was attracted to guys who hate her. He says, "Mr. Sheffield doesn't hate you," and she says, "I meant you." (And then they insult each other before dancing.) If they had gone with that, she would have been the first of the two to confess an attraction.

I have watched this so many times. One of my very favourite songs and what a perfect choice for CC and Niles. Oh I love it and I love this couple. I loved all the characters but CC and Niles were the star attraction for me. Just beautiful. Thanks for making this lovely video. 💕
The show should have been about them. They were always the best part of the show
CC resented (and sometimes Niles did too) that Max was so taken up with Fran...so it's kind of fun that, at the moment Fran was in labor, in the elevator, the spotlight (and even Max's attention) were on Niles and CC.
But of course, CC and Niles had to share their "wedding day" with Fran giving birth.

Totally! It's a shame that never happened. In fact, I STILL think a spin-off of them could work--Niles and CC pretty much always acted like an old married couple. I would love to see them dealing with retirement and grown children with all the snark and passion that they excel at.

I hated the idea that the "best years of her life" were gone when she was only in her late 30s-to-early-40s, but if she really was as happy with Niles as the last few episodes showed, then there's a lesson that's not the case. I did like that Niles and CC, when they got together, were a little older than most TV/movie characters falling in love. And I kind of liked how they were gender-flipped in some ways - she was good in business, he was good at housework, and she was the more skittish about commitment of the two...except that the role reversals were turned into a joke. I wish CC's success as a producer was shown in a more positive way.
It's implied in one of the episodes that she was nearing 50.
If you're referring to Niles saying that Fran is half CC's age, or his comment "25 years - half your life" - I think he may be exaggerating, to "get" CC. But I believe she is 40 or a little over by the end of the series, somewhat older than Fran in spite of Lauren being younger than Fran D. But one thing I actually do like about Niles and CC as a couple is that they are a little older than many TV characters are at the time of their happy romantic endings.

The scene where they dance, and then he refuses the money she had offered for being her date, for some reason make me think of the "Something There" song and scene from Beauty and the Beast...it's the start of them becoming less hostile and seeing each other as potentially charming / attractive (although, it certainly takes Niles and CC longer than it does Belle and the Beast.)
That is my favourite scene. I wish I could remember which episode it was in, or someone would post it on UA-cam.
And in that moment the lyrics "Our love is here to stay" was heard, which foreshadowed their romance and marriage.

When I just started watching the nanny a saw a clip of Fran and Max's wedding and it show them dancing at the end I thought that could be a good storyline with C. C. and Niles but it would never happen, and what do ya know?

He and CC are "official" by then...they sneak around all over the house to "be together" and don't seem to be doing their jobs...and Fran and Max put up with it. Could that be because, during the previous episode, when Niles was trying to court CC and she seemed to be rejecting him (The Dummy Twins), both Niles and CC said they were leaving? Were Fran and Max just grateful they didn't leave? I think CC and Niles are both more capable than Fran and Max, and Fran and Max need them more than the other way around.
Anyway, in Yetta's Letters, once CC knew she was in love with Niles, she tried to get Max to agree to produce a play Niles had written (!) and they demonstrated that play.

ONE TRUE PAIRING
Fran was interested in some guys besides Max; CC dated some guys besides Niles, and Max was even shown to have dates with (and in one case, I think sleep with) other women besides Fran...I think Niles was the only one who actually had no other love interests.

But I also like that 1) CC is getting an award (apparently all her work, not Max's, because he doesn't even go), 2) CC asks Niles out, not the other way around, 3) they both laugh about CC keeping her acceptance speech short by not thanking anyone. In other words, she comes across as both successful and unconcerned with what people think. I don't understand, though, why she later acted like she couldn't date the butler, like it was an "image" thing, when she'd already taken him on dates where everyone could see them.
@@jessicalillianweinberg4401 Because those were not real dates. Those were just favors. A one time for a couple of hours she won't go alone, and that was that.
But really dating him was a different thing. In a one time date nobody would of known he was a butler. But in a long term relationship, everyone would've found out eventually.
And it was an image thing for someone who aspired to have a rich husband and was a snob like CC

Its from season 4 (overall the 90th episode) "The Nose Knows"...love that scene
CC originally offered Niles money to be her date, but if you watch the scene where she gets a letter from another guy breaking up with her, and so gets Niles to go with her by offering him money...I don't feel like she cares deeply about the other guy and is devastated...I feel like it's Niles she really wants, and she's using the situation with the other guy to get a date with Niles. Also, did you ever notice that many times CC is supposedly trying to hug or kiss Max, she winds up with her hand or lips on Niles? ("A Kiss is Just a Kiss" and "Schlepped Away," where she gets into a bed supposedly thinking Max is there, but it's Niles?)

Lauren was pregnant for real?
She was during roughly 2/3's of the 5th season and they totally made fun of it from the time she was really showing till the time she went on maternity leave (when CC went away to "the place" as she called it). Rachel Chagall (who played Val) had her own twins (who are named Jonah and Eve like Fran and Max's) a year later (she was pregnant through most of the last season also)

Then, after going to such ridiculous lengths to hide Lauren's pregnancy, they wrote CC getting pregnant in The Finale. (She and Niles had been really "carrying on" wildly for a few episodes before that, so it seemed somewhat realistic that that happened.) But I almost would have rather they had had them start a relationship and Season 5 and had CC on maternity leave when Lauren really was.
