I like the test in the church a lot more than the one in the bathtub

I was thinking the same thing regarding having an on/off switch.
Found this as an additional hardware, but will add weight and cost of course:
Hosa GMS-274 Microphone Power Switch, XLR3F to XLR3M

I've been using the WH20XLR for over a year now (keys/vox/bvs) going through PA via Harmonizer. It's fantastic if your 'Soundguy' is onto it. In other words, this thing needs a lot of tweaking for FOH. SGs will often ask me to run the harmonizer 'flat' - no EQ, reverb or compression - NADA! That was the whole idea of the pedal - i.e., so I could control my own effects (especially for bvs). This is a sound tech's nightmare imo. Sounds tinny/toppy and roomy without the right EQ.
Be nice to have an ON/OFF switch for donning/removing headset... otherwise SG throws a wobbly cause you've sent his mixer into orbit with crashes, pops, bangs and...yeah you get the idea. Yes - I could switch off at the pedal, but that means unplugging the unit (TC Play).
For podcast, solo - trio gigs? Brilliant!
For 9 piece band through FOH with foldbacks...mmm not so brilliant.
Comfy to wear for 3hr gig. Compact and robust enough to throw straight into my gig bag.

Thanks for the info - I've been rocking the WH20 for years, but we're having trouble "getting enough out of it" so need to have a bit of a play. If we can't do it at the desk, I'll have to get a little EQ/pre-amp box or something.

@@leighkite1164 Thank you! What kind of EQ/preamp are you considering? Would a cloudlifter do it?

@@baoboumusic Well I haven't considered anything... as a drummer I sort of just hit stuff... but a brief study of history indicates we still need that (in all theatres). 🤣 My sound guy is using one of those new "deskless" desks, and he changed something on it (from his iPad at the back of the room) at the last gig and now I sound OK. But I must admin, it would be kinda cool to have a good old-fashioned box in the wire. 🤣

The SM58 still sounds better to my ears with headphones on. But....not a bad alternative for streaming. Can see the thought logic behind the idea. Seriously though, you should just tap up Britney - she must've a bucketload of them, all those all singing all dancing posters do - tell her you do a mean cover of Hit Me Baby One More Time 😁 Nice to see you on The Tube again 👍

It's ok, but it CAN'T compete with a 58, as the 58 jut has a BIGGER capsule and a transformer for a passive boost!
In OTHER news, I GOT an Ashton, Bluetongue 50! $300! Bloody GOOD amp. Stock speaker isn't the greatest, a bit scooped and boxy sounding, but plugged into my ext LORANTZ speakers, it sounds WORLD class! Seriously underrated! Similar to a Marshall DSL40CR, but still has its OWN vibe going on!

Sounds quite good, but the plosives are quite prominent when right in front of your mouth. I didn’t think the headset was so bad a little further from your mouth.

hi, thank you for the review, been looking for the difference between sm58 and this one.
my qustion is how do you connect it to the computer? can you simply connect the XLR to a sound card like the Tascam us-1x2HR that got xlr/pl input?

Hi mate. I just bought a WH20XLR. You mentioned you were going to try it out at a gig! How’d it go, did you have to make many adjustments, if so what?
    Cheers,
    Wolfie

Anyone know if this mic needs a lot more gain than most other dynamic mics? I saw the specs that its sensitivity is at -68dbv, a lot lower than most regular dynamic mics. I'm not sure if it will work on my equipments, don't really want to use an additional inline preamp for it.

    Awesome vid...
Don't suppose you could do a video on how this mic works with the Roland street cube ex.. I bought the amp, after watching your video on that.
You can get an XLR on/off switch belt clip from amazon.
i look forward to seeing how it goes...
If you make the video of course... Lol.
Keep the faith dude. Taz. (Plymouth.)

A review of a microphone with reverb is always a bad idea. Maybe if you add reverb at the end of your demo on a song, but you are starting your speech test with reverb. Please don't do that.:) I came for a dry mic test and ended up skiping your video. Good luck with you future reviews!
