I love my leggings and look great in them since I am slender with long legs and receive compliments often. I probably have 30 different pairs. That said, I am happy to say that I have never owned a pair of faux leather leggings - that sounds dreadfully tacky. It's all in how you pull together your entire outfit and accessories, and not all people look good in certain styles.

I’m 53 and have never owned leggings! As shared by other comments, I’ve always thought there are so many other more stylish and flattering options for pants, whether casual or not. I don’t particularly love the extreme triangle shape with big sweaters and tight pants. I feel more straight legged pants with looser or bulky tops give a balanced look. 😊

Congratulations! For once I’m ahead of the trend…ditched leggings earlier this year…despite my exercise routine and diet, just wasn’t thrilled with the way my 72 year old body looked in them. Purchased about 4 pairs of Quince pants; a big fan!
I've never worn leggings outside of the gym and the closest thing I've come to them around the house is yoga pants, but neither out and about. I think they're a little too casual and I like to look a bit more pulled together when I leave the house, even if it's just to the grocery store.

I quit wearing leggings as an outfit about four years ago (never wore them out again after the covid work from home). I wore black legging outfits for almost a decade. I loved them so much at one time. Now I absolutely can't stand wearing leggings as part of an outfit. When I see someone wearing a black legging outfit, I think it looks soooo dated. I am really into denim now and if I need something comfy, I wear a pair of pull on pants or a yoga type legging that has a wider leg. I kept a few pairs of leggings for around the house or walking but I hardly even wear them because I am so tired of the legging silhouette.
I used to wear them with long tunics at work. Never wore them as pants....always had the bum well covered. But returning to work after Covid, I just didn't want to wear them any more. I also changed jobs and casual was the style so I (and most other staff) wear cargo pants. LOVE the pockets and now I never carry a purse.
You are so funny Serena!!! I have only worn some cotton black leggings with sweaters and like them, but never tried the faux leathers. Love all of your ideas and appreciate you!
I am 5’1” tall and weigh 170 lbs. I love leggings/jeggings. Since I am very short wasted and actually have no waist at all, I do not wear belts. I have had both knees and both hips replaced, so do not wear any type of high heels. I do up size my leggings one size so they are not too tight. I prefer long tops/tunic tops. Since I am 81 years old, I don’t really care what is in “style.” I think super tall, super thin models look great in big baggy clothes.
Serena - Your intro was the best! I too love to be comfy, but haven't really cared for the leggings, but have worn them. So glad to see these other options. Thanks for another great video!
Thank you dear Serena, love this topic! Great examples of other comfortable clothes than leggings you showed today. Those look very pretty on you. I am done with those, too. Today, to my great surprise, I found out I cannot stand my beloved sweatpants anomore, either 😱. It was a little cold today and when I came home and put on my favourite sweatpants, even with my nice navy cashmere sweater, I thought „awww that looks absolutely horrible!“ Thank you, you absolutely saved my day 💐.
I bought them (regular, not faux leather). I have about 5 pair, and never wore them as pants. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I use them as layers for winter under my jeans.

Hi Serena, you are too funny! I love the “good bye” at the beginning! I don’t wear leggings anywhere except for workout or cleaning the house. The outfits are so cute! I really like the forest green. Great video!
Love your introduction 😂. Again you give great advices and show great outfits, 4 and 5 are my preference. I have hikers legs so not to sad to see leggings leave the trend. I understand that it is an interesting piece in a wardrobe and love your ideas of leggings alternatives.

I've stopped wearing leggings outside of the house too. There are just too many more becoming as well as comfy options to choose from these days.I must say, green in all it's iterations is a very flattering color on you, Serena. Literally ten minutes before I signed into UA-cam to watch videos I ordered the Spanx Air Essentials set with the wide leg pants. Looking forward to getting it! I wear leggings occasionally with a nice fitting top/sweater that covers my hips. My legging are nice quality and fit comfortably on my legs, they do not resemble stretch tight exercise leggings. The Spanx outfit is pretty. I purchased a dupe of this outfit from Amazon that was highlighted by another influencer and it is great quality and so much cheaper than Spanx.
@@asou5334 yes I know Amazon has dupes. I ordered one last year but I have it away after I got the SPANX. I like the SPANX fabric a lot better. There's nothing like it!
When sleeves are too long for me or I just want to push them up and have them stay, I put a rubber band around the sleeve, fold the bottom of the sleeve over it, then push them up and they will then stay. I really prefer 3/4 sleeves, but can't always find them in the style I am looking for.
A male friend of mine( 65 yrs old) once told me women over 60 have no business wearing leggings, especially if they’re heavy. Ever since then I don’t wear them anymore only at home or walking for exercise.
I don't believe in age limits on clothes. Wear what you like. And that male "friend" of yours was both age-shaming and body-shaming women. Doesn't sound like a very nice guy.
I haven't wore leggings out in a few years. I only wear them around the house. I'll wear loose fitting joggers but not too loose. I like the grey quince pants you showed.
I had just made a donation pile that included leggings I had worn as pants. At 63, not for me anymore. These Quince pants I have got to try! I have not tried Quince yet! And I prefer pull-on pants for the flat front. I had just watched your Quince video and asked for more casual outfits, when I found this great video. I would still like to request that you review Quince jeans, if you've found any you like!!
I agree with you on choosing other pants styles over leggings. I don’t believe leggings should ever have been accepted as “pants” and should always have been worn with longer tops and jackets. Serena, can you help me style a white lace maxi skirt? Also any suggestions for wearing skirts in colder weather. Thank you in advance!!
I don't think I would wear a white lace maxi skirt in Fall/Winter. That's a Spring/Summer wardrobe item. I'll have some more skirt styles coming up in videos soon.
Thanks for the tip I thought ppl were wearing white in the winter now days or is it the lace? Anyway you look good in anything you wear, thanks for your videos I subscribed this was the 2nd video the 1st one that popped up on my phn was how to style leggings and i totally agree with what you were saying about leggings to absolutely be covered and that's me no matter what I'm wearing I don't wear shorts or low tops and definitely longer tops with leggings if I'm covered I'm good to go 🤍
Leggings to me are like tights. I find it very hard to find pants that fit me.Shopping the junior department these days isn't easy either with the styles and at my age wouldn't look right.
For some reason, I've never been into the "hoodie" look, but as you say, there are alternatives. I prefer casual cardigans for a "transitional" weather look. Here in Chicago area, we'll be into coats pretty soon. lol.
I hardly wore or wear leggings. I am a dress kind of gal and I just never got hooked on them. I wear nylons or tights when it's cold out. I love my bare legs in the summer!!
I have very muscular legs from years of running and swimming. Leggings were fine for my athletic ventures, but I never wore them as a fashion item. They've always been on my fashion don't list.
I never was a big leggings person, but I had noticed on your videos and several others stylish women did not seem to be wearing leggings out as much. I used to weigh more and I always felt like a stuffed sausage even though I wore them with long tops. I think I bought a pair of faux leather leggings you showed , but never wore them . I think I donated. My husband hates leggings for going out in….dinner , date etc. So yes, for me I won’t be buying anymore leggings. My friends all love them and a lot of them will not try the wider leg jeans. I will do what I want and they can do what they want. You have tons of cute pants and jeans . I love Walmart’s thinner lighter joggers in black. I think they are called Athletic. We will probably rejoin the gym in the winter and that’s what I wore last year. .My work out has been the five acres we live on lately, but in the winter need to do something . I love the vest outfit!!! ❤❤❤❤
I only wear leggings when I exercise. There are too many other options to wear grocery shopping -- I don't mean pajama bottoms. Even though I'm retired, I still like to look causal-chic and that doesn't include wearing leggings outside of the gym or when I exercise -- although, I do like the way you styled that one pair of leggings with that coatigan! That looked causal-chic (so maybe there's hope for leggings)!
The Quince Pointe pant does run small. I have an hourglass figure and normally wear a size 14. I ordered an xl and was tight in the butt and hips. I really wanted them to work, but sent them back..
I’m not giving them up yet but l’ll only wear them to do errands but not to meet up with friends 😂 I definitely gave up jeggings though. I can’t believe how bad I looked in them. I looked like a tamale 🫔 . Yes I did 😂😂 Goos vlog. ✨🌼
I wore a lot of leggings when everyone was wearing them. Now I mostly wear blue jeans, which I used to wear all the time. I do get in the mood to wear leggings but only the black cotton type with a longer top. I can never go back to the tight athletic type of leggings. I also wear black cotton capri leggings to sleep in sized larger (medium instead of small.) They are very comfy but I don't wear them (capri length) in public anymore. I got rid of all my leggings once before and regretted it so I now I do keep a few pairs because I still like them but only the cotton ones.
If you haven't done so, watch Marie-Anne Lecoeur's video about leggings! 😂 She is not shy about her opinion of them. ua-cam.com/video/nrX-7ckFDcQ/v-deo.htmlsi=AjPkxLnBvBtzlm28 I am in my 40s...I wear leggings only when I work out or when I wear a dress and boots in the winter. Most of the time, I wear tailored trousers or jeans and feel completely comfortable. 😊
I feel like a weightier boot might look more balanced with your voluminous striped sweater . Purchasing the Quince pants 👍😊they are lovely …great price too !
I have never been a fan of leggings as pants. They just aren’t flattering. I do wear them for gym workouts and that’s it. I see that you’ve linked the Spanx leggings. Do you have another less expensive brand that you can recommend for gym wear? Thanks!
LOL! I still wear leggings - at home more than out. But I do wear them. I can’t say goodbye yet. 😂 I really want a cashmere set from Quince, but they don’t make them in my size yet. I’ve been eyeing the Spanx set. It is made in my size.

@@StylewithSerenayou took the words out of my keyboard 😊
I haven't wore leggings out in a few years.
I only wear them around the house. I'll wear loose fitting joggers but not too loose. I like the grey quince pants you showed.
I had just made a donation pile that included leggings I had worn as pants. At 63, not for me anymore. These Quince pants I have got to try! I have not tried Quince yet! And I prefer pull-on pants for the flat front. I had just watched your Quince video and asked for more casual outfits, when I found this great video. I would still like to request that you review Quince jeans, if you've found any you like!!
I tried the Quince jeans & didn't like the way they fit on me. You might be different.
Thank you finally
Anyway you look good in anything you wear, thanks for your videos I subscribed this was the 2nd video the 1st one that popped up on my phn was how to style leggings and i totally agree with what you were saying about leggings to absolutely be covered and that's me no matter what I'm wearing I don't wear shorts or low tops and definitely longer tops with leggings if I'm covered I'm good to go 🤍
@ white is fine year round. I do ecru or off white, not bright white.
Good idea ❤
I hardly ever wore leggings also not everyone could pull off the faux leather ones . I will always be a jeans lover ❤️
I have very muscular legs from years of running and swimming. Leggings were fine for my athletic ventures, but I never wore them as a fashion item. They've always been on my fashion don't list.
I only wear leggings for exercise, never as pants. If that look is going out, it's about time!
Liked them all!
This is so cute, Serena! Well done. I understand. My body at 77 is just out of proportion from 40.
If in between sizes would you recommend sizing up or down on the Spanx hoodie?
Probably size down. It's roomy.
I have never had a pair of UGGS but the ultra mini is cute. I have broke up with leggings. There are too many other stylish options.
I’m not giving them up yet but l’ll only wear them to do errands but not to meet up with friends 😂 I definitely gave up jeggings though. I can’t believe how bad I looked in them. I looked like a tamale 🫔 . Yes I did 😂😂 Goos vlog. ✨🌼
Haaaa I love the Quince pants but they do not ship to Canada..
😢
I’ve worn leggings only with a skirt. It’s a fall/winter boho style thing
Leggings and I never really got on. We had a fling for a season in 2011 but have since parted ways. 😆
@@Oralia_Martinez 😂😂😂
If you haven't done so, watch Marie-Anne Lecoeur's video about leggings! 😂 She is not shy about her opinion of them.

I am in my 40s...I wear leggings only when I work out or when I wear a dress and boots in the winter. Most of the time, I wear tailored trousers or jeans and feel completely comfortable. 😊
I broke up with leggins a long time ago. We have better to wear that is comfortable and more stylish
@@kellihightower4328 I wish the women in my area would do this!
I'm convinced that I live in the worst-dressed city in America!
@@StylewithSerena😅😂
I feel like a weightier boot might look more balanced with your voluminous striped sweater . Purchasing the Quince pants 👍😊they are lovely …great price too !
I agree
Leggings look best in the gym or when running 😊
Hi Serena. Thanks for the alternative to leggings. I like joggers and yoga pants. The Spanx burgundy outfit looked nice on you.
I have never been a fan of leggings as pants. They just aren’t flattering. I do wear them for gym workouts and that’s it. I see that you’ve linked the Spanx leggings. Do you have another less expensive brand that you can recommend for gym wear? Thanks!
I love the CRZ Yoga leggings. They come in all colors, patterns, lengths, etc. rstyle.me/+z3uGI3rVGMSS4FjP12H8OA
LOL! I still wear leggings - at home more than out. But I do wear them. I can’t say goodbye yet. 😂
I really want a cashmere set from Quince, but they don’t make them in my size yet.
I’ve been eyeing the Spanx set. It is made in my size.
