    I needed something like this for an upcoming project starting today. Perfect timing! Thanks for showing how it's done!

      @@mitchwoodwork I'm hoping to build a small vanity table for my wife. Offset trestle legs and feet could benefit from a joint like this. I'll practice a bit before attempting the real deal . Again, this joint of yours is absolutely brilliant.

    Beautiful craftsmanship Mitch. It must be quite difficult with your arthritic hands.

      Thanks. Yes, it's not too comfortable some of the time. Mind you, power tool use can be worse for them.

    All right, that's actually a very cool joint!! Checks off all boxes; mechanical strength and glueing surface
    How about drawboring this joint to also restrict the last axis of movement?

    • @mitchwoodwork
      @mitchwoodwork  Рік тому +1

      For sure you can drawbore it. The tapered one that I demonstrated is often used for knock-down joinery, where it never gets glued. For example fitting legs to a tables aprons, where the tabletop weight just loads the joints making them tighter.

      Hmm all right! That sounds like a very good purpose for that joint

    Is the ratio for the dovetails crucial ? Can I do 1:6

    • @mitchwoodwork
      @mitchwoodwork  Рік тому +1

      Not crucial, just a good general guide. 1:6 will be fine.

    Same joint than the roubo bench ?

    • @mitchwoodwork
      @mitchwoodwork  Рік тому +1

      It does look similar to some of the pictures from his book. I've also seen ones with a dovetail in front and a tenon behind, and a rising dovetail and tenon is another thought. All would make decent leg joints for a bench
