I'll be referring to this shortly as I have a service kit for the carb on my own rusty Hillman Avenger. It's hard to start, will then sometimes run OK if the throttle is kept open for a while, and will then idle perfectly for a few minutes until it conks out and is hard to start again. Checked for fuel from pump so carburettor is apparently the place to go. Well out of my comfort zone.
