    Great video! Well put together and engaging! Seeing all that wine and food, my mouth filled with saliva 🍷I love Priorat, this is where I can find minerality in red wine. Still, largely unknown region. Cheers 🥂

    Been there a while ago! Stunning wine region, and they have come a long way since the 80s and 90s, more balance and elegance in the wines! Still have great memories of the local food :)

    Glad to see Clos Figueras featured here. Had a blast touring their facility and the restaurant is absolutely wonderful. Oh, yeah, than the wines are all excellent and a good value for the region (which can get pricey). Others worth visiting… Ferrer Bobet (best tasting room view I’ve ever experienced, period), Clos Mogador (best wines in the region, pioneer too), Clos Erasmus, Mas Martinet, Alvaro Palacios, Terroir Al Limit, Vall Llach. Such a beautiful and fun place to taste wine and eat. This video brought back some great memories.

    priorat is such a fabulous region! the wines are so interesting and age beautifully. unfortunately the truly great ones start at 85-90 in the miami area so im always on the hunt for 50 in up price points. the french version is the chateauneuf du pape (grenache) but a completely different experience

    Good stuff ... but having just returned from a cycling tour in Girona, I think you missed Emporda! We ordered these local wines (red and white) with dinner every night for a week, and every one of them was enjoyable, inexpensive, and eminently drinkable. Maybe one of them was a bit more serious/cellar worthy ... but who cares, if I get my hands on some Emporda wines here in the States, I'm in!

      When I was 17 I went straight from drinking Fanta to dry vermouth and lemonade. I never liked beer. Vermouth was my thing for over decade until I tasted Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc in 1991. We all have different journeys. I haven’t tasted vermouth in 30years - but my curiosity is piqued.

    What kind of winery tells you about their wines and then not offer a tasting to experience what you've learned?! Mind boggling unless there was some extenuating circumstance. That kind of winery doesn't deserve nor need to be featured on your video.

    • @drmatthewhorkey
      @drmatthewhorkey  Рік тому

      I went back and forth on this… to be fair, we showed up without an appointment but they have full staff so a tasting shouldn’t have been a problem. They were the pioneers of spearheading the Priorat DOQ and they do make good wine, so I do think people should know about them. When editing, I thought it also was good in showing the contrast between them and the warmness of Clos Figueras.

      @@drmatthewhorkey I'd have understood more if they didn't have time for the presentation and just gave you a simple wine flight tasting. I probably would have said something like "I'll just use my imagination about how your wines taste and show you a copy. If there's any mistake with my imagination just let me know".
