Hi, regarding Angelina's show without shoes the first time you heard her read about her performing without shoes the reason is that at age 6 she met a girl her age who was homeless while she was traveling with her family in the Middle East she started talking to her and it hurt her to see a girl like her Is on the street asking for money from passersby Angelina also saw that the girl has no shoes and she decided to give her her shoes and then the homeless girl asked her what you want to be when she grows up and she said she wants to sing to the whole world and Angelina asked her and what you want to be She said she wants to be a doctor but does not have the ability to do so financially Angelina told her that she must not give up on her dreams and they promised to pray for each other in their future success so from that moment Angelina always appears without shoes when she sings to always mention that Children in the world who can not even buy shoes and they walk barefoot on the street and until all the children in the world have shoes she will continue to appear without shoes. That's why you'll always see her without shoes.

Yes, Angelina is fearless and in her way fierce! It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance (in English, her third language), then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this most shocking 3 minutes on YT!
There are so many reason why your little "girl-crush" on Angelina will only grow. She has 135+ performances (many of them jazz ) for you to watch/react to. She is barefooted because when 6yo she met a orphan girl on the street in Iran. They conversed and the shoe-less girl told Angelina she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up but couldn't as she had to help feed her brothers and sisters. Angelina told the girl she wanted to sing for the whole world, gave her shoes to the girl, and promised to henceforth perform barefooted to remember her and all the parent-less kids who need clothes and food. Angelina continues to keep that promise after 8+ years. She has raised helped millions for that cause.
"I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talk with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a Doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind the world that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.
From an early age she has helped raise millions for children's charities. She speaks Norweigian Farsi and English. At 6 she was in the middle East. She was talking to an orphan with scars on her feet and gave her the shoes of her feet. The girl said she would always pray for Angelina when Angelina had told her of her dream to singing all over the world and Angelina decided at 6 she would always sing in public with bare feet until all children had shoes. Part of her Norways Got Talent win was donated by her parents for this. Angelina became Norways youngest published author at 9 with a story about this that her grandma illustrated. Based on the diary entry Angelina wrote about it.Of course a percentage of money going to children's charities. She sang at the Nobel peace prize awards. At her live concerts she will often wear slippers to the stage and then tale them off to sing. So everybody remembers why she does it. She always performs in bare feet keeping the promise still at 17 that she made to herself at 6.

I can think of no better introduction to jazz than Angelina Jordan. I never really appreciated classic jazz before I heard what she was able to do with songs that I had heard but never given a second thought to.
This here is the best version of this song I have ever heard, and that includes the original. I love her too. 😎

attention to the many people in the world who don't have a simple pair of

When Angelina (from Oslo) was 6 years old, she met a homeless girl around her age in Iran. (Her grandmother is Iranian artist Mery Zamani.) The girl did not have any shoes, and Angelina says her feet were scarred. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes. Not only does Angelina honor the young homeless girl she met by performing barefoot, but she also wrote a book about the experience. It’s called Mellom to jherter (“Between two hearts”), and was published in 2015, when Angelina was only 9 years old. According to her website, Angelina then “vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world’s children had them.” She keeps that promise to this day, as she says that little girl “is always in my heart.”
She arranges all of her own music. This jazz quartet called her The Boss for her total control of the production.
I believe -- at least I've read it in several places -- that not only did Angelina give her shoes (they were like little boots), they were her favorite pair of shoes at the time.

Mind blowing? 1000%. That was her own arrangement. In the beginning of the video she handed the band leader the changes she made which she called her wishes. She took charge and gave the musicians instructions on how she wanted the song to sound. They lovingly nicknamed her the boss.
Screamin’ Jay Hawkins was a trained pianist and an opera singer who found it very difficult to find work in that sector most likely because of his race. He turned into a jazz and blues and shock rock performer. Most people don’t even know that he was also a boxing champion.

She has a way about her. It's almost like she can reach right into your heart, put her arms around it and never let go. She has very large group of dedicated fans. We just love her.
Madam, Norway was so proud of her, the people, the government and the Royal Family, declared her officially "The National Treasure of Norway" a few weeks after winning Norse Talenter in 2014. Even the most famous musicians of Norway see it as an honor to perform with Angelina Jordan Astar. In this video she earned her nickname THE BOSS. lol you must remember she started singing at the age of 1-1/2. You need to hear "I'm still holding out for you." She was 12. Then her cover of, It's a Man's World, then her cover live recording of "Stay."
If you want to hear more jazz, you picked the right artist. Angelina, in my opinion, is the best natural jazz vocalist alive today. And most of her music displays jazz influences, even when she's covering a pop tune. I also believe this recording alone is ample evidence that she's a bona fide vocal prodigy.
She was only 9 years old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, an American singer/songwriter. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody.

And then there is a shot of Angelina holding a candle, upon which was an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins. And the fact that during the last time she sang "because you're mine" she rose on to her toes. Lastly, did you notice how the "performing" Angelina, singing at a level of maturity far beyond her years, suddenly became a 9-year-old child almost instantaneously once she finished singing. From the time I first heard Angelina, way back at her first audition on Norway's Got Talent, she has amazed me.

Your channel just showed up on my home page today. I subbed to Bohemian Rhapsody. Really enjoying your reactions and this one I had a smile the whole time watching you, esp after you said you wouldn't stop but then had to stop.LOL NOW, WHY ANGELINA ALWAYS PERFORMS ON STAGE BAREFOOT. It was mentioned in her wiki page. At 6 years old she traveled to the middle east with her Iranian grandma Mery Zamani and her mother. As they were walking thru the streets Angelina (AJ) struck up a conversation with a little girl her age. The girl was weighing people on bathroom scales to earn money to help feed her younger siblings. AJ asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied "a doctor but I am too poor" and the girl asked AJ the same and AJ replied "a superstar to sing for the world". AJ saw the girl had scars on her bare feet so she offered the girl her favorite pair of boots she had on and the girl said she would pray for AJ. At that point AJ felt a feeling she had never experienced (empathy) and made a pledge to herself that if given the opportunity to sing on stage she would sing barefoot to bring attention to the needy children of the world and would do so until all children had shoes. To this day AJ doesn't wear shoes while on stage unless it's a rehearsal. She even sang on stage for Quincy Jones' 85th birthday party in London in a gown barefoot. She wrote a book about the experience titled "Between Two Hearts" at 9 years old. There is an interview on Norwegian TV where she talks about writing the book from her diary. She said she thinks of that little girl every day. AJ donated winnings from Norway's Got Talent and from her book sales as well as from her merch sales and she has been helping feed the homeless in Los Angeles. Angelina has the heart of a saint! Thank you for this reaction. I've been following her since seeing this and her Norway's Got Talent four songs which caused her to win at age 7/8, about a year before this video. Jazz is difficult, and she has got it. These are advanced vocal techniques she's using. Many vocal trainers have said she shows great relaxation when she sings here. She started singing at 1 and a half years. There is a video..... I'm 67 yo and have never heard a voice like hers. It is like she channels heaven. 💜

I'll start with one Feeling Good.
She recorded two excellent versions one indoors and one outdoors. Do both! They are each that good.
Such a joy. Simply a reaction to remember!! :-D I guess you are about t become a true "angel" already. (This is what Angelina names her fans.) At least we are all heavy influenced by the angelic voice of Angelina, and her loving and caring human soul. At least she is an angel on earth, as her original songs so clearly and obvious shows. Would love to see you react to all her performances (could be close to 200 songs by now), but why not start out with her latest original "7th Heaven". It will give you an idea where she intends to take her “jazz influenced” career (IMHO - in my humble opinion😬) and was released earlier this year (she’s 15). I think the best version of “7th Heaven” is the live studio version.

There is a podcast, "wrapped in a warm blanket" which talks about when Angelina was five years old and then how at 7 years old she entered and was ready for Norway's Got Talent contest. The podcast describes what happened to Angelina Jordan at 6 years old she had an explosion of natural talent, the genius came out of her.😮😮. If you really want to see a gifted genius born this is material I recommend that you react to next.😊
You were impressed with her at 13. Now you're impressed with her at 9. Keep going back in time, to her run on _Norway's Got Talent_ [Norske Talenter] at 7 and 8. Even though she wasn't singing anything like she did here, I think all four of her performances on that show are every bit as impressive. (But I guess that probably won't come as much of a surprise to you, given that you already know she won the competition…) I have a playlist on my channel [titled "Angelina Jordan on Norske Talenter (Norway's Got Talent)"] that you can use to find the "best videos" for each round, depending on whether you want to react to all the pre- and post-song stuff, including judges' comments, or just to the songs themselves. You questioned whether she was really singing this "live" with the band, as the music video purports to show. Although you can tell that the video and audio aren't always from the same take, I think there's good reason to believe that the majority of the shots used in the video were actually filmed during the "real" recording session (i.e., that resulted in the final audio track). I say this because we know (based on multiple YT videos) that she recorded another music video in this same way (singing live with the musicians) at roughly the same age. To be specific, I'm referring to her totally rewritten cover of Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black", recorded about a year after this one, when she was 10. And she even recorded the album _It's Magic_ (with a large military band) the same way when she was 11: she actually recorded her vocals in a small recording booth as the band played "live" in the next room (as opposed to singing over prerecorded instrumental tracks, like you might expect). Of course, the tracks were still edited together from the best bits of different takes, but still… I find it kind of amazing that she would record an entire album that way. (But she's so good, I guess it's the most economical way to do it.)
You said you've been getting into jazz recently. As a general rule, she sang more jazz when she was younger and less jazz as she got older (moving into more modern pop, soul/R&B, etc.), but she's never lost the jazz influence in her vocals, regardless of what genre she's tackling. If you want to take a chronological approach to her stuff, the standard method for doing that is to use Rusty Shackleford's extensive (but far from complete) "Angelina Jordan Live, Through the Years (Chronological)" playlist. ua-cam.com/play/PL2v8kgVeo4EbYDVnRwObjETfWpXbzbgIO.html (Full disclosure: not everything in there is "live" in the usual sense: some are, like this one, music videos that may or may not have been recorded "live in the studio".) Even if you don't go through that list in order, you might want to keep it bookmarked, so you can easily find good versions of songs people suggest without providing specific URLs.
Alternatively, if you want a little shorter introduction to the entire span of her career, just look for a comment on one of these first 2 AJ reactions where someone has recommended 15-20 of their AJ favorites through the years. I don't even need to look to know that you must have gotten a few of those comments already. (If not, you might want to check to see if YT is "junking" link-heavy comments in some special place. I don't know the details, but some reacters have mentioned things like that.)

Angelina is not a prodigy she is a vocal virtuoso she is one of a kind, we get one of these gifts once every 50 to 75 years, she has many voices in that wonderful beautiful throat of hers; I have recorded thousands of vocalist and I have never heard anyone be able to do the things she can do at any age.

You should also listen to Fly me to the moon, Stay, 7:th heaven and I´m still holding out to you. First time I listened to this I was as shocked as most people.
