Great video as always! I'm interested to see if the fluid engine speeds up or slows down websites, but that might be a small price to pay now when we don't have to use as much CSS to make things pretty.
Great question. I've noticed it's a bit slower in the backend, but I attribute that to new-release jitters. I'm hopeful that will get fixed soon. I'm not noticing any difference on live sites. I'll look into that a bit more.
Thank you so much for this and for showing the super simple section dividers, I seem to have totally mislaid any design mojo I had, so this is great! Jayne Caudle 😎
Thanks for the rundown, Will! Really excited about the new fluid engine, but of course, change comes with some nervousness when it comes to client work. This was really helpful!
Hey Ashley, couldn't agree more, there is so much that I'm pumped we can do now, but there's a lot to adjust to...and the for our clients to adjust to... Hope you've been well!
Great video! I didn't realize until watching just now that the little thing at the bottom is to remove the "extra space" and I cussed while using FE lol. Besides it only wanting to work 80% of the time yesterday, I think I will love FE. I can deal with a few bugs, hope they fix them soon. Thanks Will, your videos are always helpful!
haha yesterday was a bit rough, maybe because they were rolling it out to so many people🤨, but seems to be better today. Glad you found the video helpful (and found that little blue thing!)
Thanks for these helpful tips. Does SquareSpace offer a sandbox environment? I thought I read somewhere that once you flip over to Fluid Engine you can't go back to Classic. So, rather than risk messing up my current site, I'm curious if there's a way run some tests?
I don’t think you’d need a sandbox env. Fluid engine is only per section, not site-wide, and not even page-wide. So I’d recommend duplicating a page on your site and flipping all of the sections on that page to fluid and seeing how you like it.
Could I ask a question please? Is there a way to add a button to a text block and have it stay in position on different screen sizes? Hope that makes sense, thank you :)
Hey, you'd have to edit the layout on both the desktop and mobile editor, also take a look at our video on the tablet view if you are having any issues - ua-cam.com/video/v7Xg1QRXHp0/v-deo.html
Hey Scott, great point, unfortunately Gallery Blocks in 7.1 are still only available to Squarespace Circle members. Unfortunately this means there isn't a simple work around to get an image caption. One long winded workaround would be to create a blog collection and use a Summary block, but this obviously isn't ideal!
Super excited about this. WordPress/Elementor and Wix watch out!

Thanks soooo much Will. Great overview.

@@will-myers Thanks, that’s a great suggestion! I’ll give it a try.

@F%98%80annel/UCKs9kBFDwcVwQYtOrKmEh2Q Many thanks Abi, I'll try that. I thought I might be missing a trick but there isn't one 😀
I am using 7.1 and I am not seeing the option to add a Gallery block. When I press Add Block the only option I see is Image.

Whyyaa have to re learn the whole thing again, things are pretty wonky. Have you tried comparing it to Webflow, EditorX, Wix?
