I tried TOF again, like 2-3 months ago... Not really good... I lack so many things, am confused on what to do, and its just another time sink. I would rather play Genshin as its much more polished and I already have tons of stuff... I also stopped playing Genshin tbh... I try to play other games, be variety. I was addicted to it for like 2 years. I played TOF day 1, was actually in the first group to defeat Frost bot on my server ( which was like a day behind everyone )

As an albedo main, it hurts to see to his video but it’s inevitable since the combination of him being geo (arguably the worst element), having strict competition as a sub dps, and that his best in slot weapon is in a limited event really brings his value down a lot 😭

Something I've noticed is that people who love Albedo REALLY love him. I have a friend that saved for him for well over a year and never rolled on any other banners before his rerun
Albedo mains are very wholesome. One time I had a very pleasant conversation with an Albedo main while they used his flower elevator on my Noelle repeatedly.
haha i got into the game because of albedo! i rolled jade cutter and mistsplitter for him and i even used up all my fragiles on the husk domain (we dont talk abt his current build its still a wip even after 9 months ;-;) he is one of two characters i have dedicated a triple crown to :)

I love albedo, like a lot lol, but if I could change anything I’d separate the elevator part of his skill from the circle it creates. As in if an enemy breaks his skill it only breaks the elevator but the circle aura remains
@@bloody4558 Difference is that Yelan or XQ for example don't only deal as much if not more dmg, but they also help in reactions and give other benefits to your dps.
Albedo is such a unique case, his fanbase might not be the biggest one there is, but man every Albedo main I've met is VERY VERY dedicated to him, including myself lol

I'm not an Albedo Main (Diluc, here) but I dust off my Chalk Prince for each and every Abyss Cycle; Diluc with Serpent Spine wants his Double Geo reinforced Jade Shield.
I can mention how Earth element is treated on other games, offensive and defensive. Hoyo's problem is they run out of ideas and even use their new ideas to Dendro instead.
@@azralia4265 even in the case of zhongli, I'm willing to bet nobody would use him if his shield didn't have the resistance shred. Sure the duration is long, except other shielders still over more elemental utility
@@ghotifish1838 i partly agree, but he is the only shielder in the whole game w shield resistance to all of the elements equally, not to mention he has the highest base shield strength in the game. he also has 100% shield uptime easy cus his cd is much less than the shield duration. hoyo will never make a better shielder than him bc that would render him a basically useless unit and their revenue would go down.
Even if he isn’t the best, he is the most efficient Geo Battery since you can spam his skill, and pairing him with Gorou can get his numbers high in the 20Ks
@@KindaMad958 It's a 66.6% chance to generate a particle per Blossom. He technically has the 3rd highest Geo particle generation potential, with the highest going to Geo Traveler and 2nd highest to C1 Zhongli, but Geo Traveler is impractical because no rotation is short enough to use their skill on cooldown and C1 Zhongli is impractical because he only generates more particles than Albedo when both pillars are consistently hitting an enemy.
You don't even need Gorou, mine consistently hits above the 30k's without Gorou on the team. (Geo bros comps)...tho, I do admit to have been very lucky with his artis.
The fact that his best in slot weapon comes from a Limited Time Event that most players did not participate in is already enough of a reason for a lot of people not to play him. It is insane how much that weapons improves him and the fact you cannot get it anymore is basically akin to a smack in the face for many who would like to play him at his highest potential. And to rub salt in the wound even more, miHoYo will at times even give you a Trial Version of Albedo with the Cinnabar Spindle (in the latest Faze Trials Hypothesis Event for example).
I got him, but just a token C0. Once I learned that they would never reveal the weapon again, I shelved him. It's their own fault, and I doubt Hoyo would ever be kind enough to re-release it, or other event special items. After all, where's the money in that? :(

@@roberthake5349 I am in the same boat. Albedo is arguably my favourite character in Genshin, and I was so excited to finally get him. But I was so sad when I found out I missed out on his signature 4 star weapon right when I decided to take a break mainly because I was incredibly busy with studies for my exams at the time... I still love him, but I have mostly shelved him as well now because it really bothers me that I don't have the "full package" of my favourite character... And like the OP said, especially because Hoyoverse equips Albedo with the CS in his character trials...

@@spacedorito9592 This. If part of the crystalize reaction involved exploding and doing that elements damage then this would indeed give way more team synergy, and a reason to have elemental mastery on geo.
Geo is in such a sad state right now, and that’s only because it can’t get past any elemental shields other than itself. If Geo is supposed to be the most hardy element, then why can’t they make it so that Geo’s reactions smash other shields regardless of their element instead? They already have a good base with crystallize; if they make it so that whatever the element absorbed by crystallize breaks shields of the same element more efficiently, crystallize would be immensely useful. And who knows, albedo’s EM buff might finally see some appreciation. 😓 Also, this function also preserves the reputation of geo as uniquely insular, which I find appealing too.
@zaraki942 if they are really dead set on making Geo an isolated the element, I feel that crystallize shields should be able to reduce elemental resistance of the corresponding element or rework Geo constructs to be more useful
@@f4llenleaves Geo’s dmg scaling is actually really high to compensate for the lack of offensive reactions, so dmg in itself is not a problem. As I mentioned tho, Geo falls behind because most enemies we’re fighting in abyss now have elemental armor or shields that Geo can’t break fast enough. So I proposed an idea having crystallize help in breaking such shields based on whatever element it absorbed, but does no true dmg to enemy’s hp. It will not only help Geo be more desirable without making it too OP, but also encourage running the usual mono-element teams Geo is distinguished for but now with a slight EM investment.
@@ghotifish1838 The 4-piece petra set works similarly, but instead of shredding resistance it buffs elemental dmg based on what crystallize absorbed. I believe the devs intended for the set to make Geo characters viable for dual-element teams, which could work if timed correctly but AGAIN is hard to pull off if you’re fighting against shielded enemies, since you’ll be grappling with the element you’ll want to crystallize and the element the shield consists of, making it a very inconsistent and thus unreliable mechanic. 😞
Albedo's problems are almost entirely caused by geo. "Yellow Physical" always struggled to keep up with other elements because it has no synergy with any of them, and then dendro came along and buffed every element except geo (anemo can use infusions to react with it, cryo gets burn-melt, but geo gets nothing). And geo also gets the unique frustration of breakable constructs. It's strange that Hoyoverse made the element of their home country so terrible... but this does mean there's some hope it might get buffed eventually.
Easy solution to geo construct breakability: if physically destroyed, they should leave a geo outline of the construct, or a phantom construct. As phantom constructs, they lose their physical/tangible properties such as blocking attacks, being climb-able, being used as elevator. But they will not break and enemies will just phase through them. Phantom constructs will last for the entirety of their durarion and they will continue their non-tangible functions, such as Albedo’s flower will continue to procc isotoma explosions but can no longer be used as elevator, or Zhongli’s pillar will continue to pulse, but can no longer block attacks or be climb-able. Turrets from other elements don’t have breakability or summoning restrictions: Oz, Guoba, Yae Miko turrets, Yaoyao’s rabbit, Rosaria burst lance, Kokomi jellyfish, etc. Geo constructs should be treated the same way. And Phantom Geo constructs is the best way to fix the problem.

@@hatooniewoomy Crystallize is another issue of geo. Crystallize is a key to make Geo synergize well with other elements. If fixed, it will open up new doors in team compositions. my recommendations for crystallize: - maximum crystallize shards on field should be increased from 3 to 5. - if a crystallize shield breaks, there should be a small AoE dmg and will apply the element of the crystallize shield on at least 2-3 affected enemies. this way, crystallize can somehow spread elements too (although limited) just like Swirl. also, this way, Elemental Mastery would become a useful stat for geo characters because EM will affect the dmg of AoE crystallize explosion and would make crystallize shields stronger. - characters equipped with Archaic Petra (AP) should automatically absorb crystallize shards if they’re on field. Through this, geo characters can become viable support carriers of Archaic Petra (the supposedly equivalent of Viridescent Venerer). effectively, players won’t have to always rely on Anemo VV characters to increase elemental dmg. (Kazuha or Sucrose or Venti can take a break). either you choose to slot in a flex Anemo unit or a Geo unit. Anemo VV would provide Swirl, grouping, spreading of elemental aura & elemental resistance shred. Geo AP would provide shielding, spreading of elemental aura & elemental buff dmg. - I want these Crystallize improvements to be applied on Crystallize itself, and not applied on one kit of a Geo character. I want EVERY geo character to benefit from Crystallize. Geo is easy to improve imo. Hoyoverse is either lazy or doesn’t really want to improve Geo. I bet sales of Geo characters would increase significantly if only they’d improve Geo (Crystallize, Archaic Petra & Geo Constructs).
@@hatooniewoomy And then Hoyo can create a 5* Geo character (similar to Wanderer’s kit), where you get different buffs depending on the element that is Crystallized. Pyro crystallize would give Atk; Hydro crystallize gives HP & Healing; Electro crystallize gives ER & speed; Cryo crystallize gives Crit Rate. - i think Geo also deserves a reaction with Dendro. It’s so weird that these two elements don’t have a reaction. It’s earth/rock and plants. How is it that Hoyo can’t think of a reaction between Geo + Dendro? At least Geo should be able to react with Dendro Cores. i’d call it “Flourish” where vine constructs grow under enemies and lock them in place for some seconds. the reaction doesn’t have to do dmg. It can just be a utility reaction. Also, Genshin is an elemental reaction game. Reactions are core to the gameplay of Genshin. So might as well create reactions for all possible elemental combo: Geo + Anemo = Dust (lowers enemy attack accuracy) Anemo + Dendro = Pollinate (makes enemies confuse and attack fellow enemies) Dendro + Cryo = Wilt (decreases crit rate)
I'm still holding out hope that hoyoverse has more plans in mind with geo in the future purely based on albedo's em buff. I hope they rework crystallize or add more geo reactions.
@@KleberDKurosaki That would work but I think it'd be a bit too similar. Maybe they could make the crystalize shields give an elemental dmg bonus based on em to whoever picks them up. Similar to kazuha. Or maybe crystalize cores could have their own transformative reactions. Maybe they could just give different stacking or flat bonuses. Hydro cores give hp, pyro cores give flat atk/atk%, electro lowers icd? or maybe gives an energy regen bonus. Dendro could be an em buff, which would work great with albedo, just stacking a ton of elemental mastery. No idea for anemo or cryo.
Which is weird to me that geo has no sub element user even though we have gods who are known for controlling stuff that would be counted as a sub element to geo(salt and dust being 2 examples) like we went through the entirety of sumeru,a nation mostly covered by sand without a single sand bender,hell,without a single geo unit in sight,like if water and cold water are cou ted as their own separate elements then geo sure as hell can have some sub element users or an element modifier unit like nilou
The souvenir shop sometimes sells limited gadgets from events like the lyre and drum. They should also had event weapons rotate in these shops. Maybe make them a bit expensive to buy so that they aren’t too easy to get, but at least make them available
Predictions for this video: Albedo's main problem is that he is Geo, only really works as a Geo battery support and has little optimal use outside of that which makes him unpreferable to other options, something about Cinnabar Spindle.

@@King_Jockey Yes and no. One of his perks is that he is a good 4th slot character for pretty much any team. And he can be this because he's geo. He's unlikely to muck up elemental reactions. If he was a useful element, that would change. So he'd be more powerful in certain teams (and potentially have some META use beyond "second best off-field geo for geo resonance"), but he'd also see use in fewer non-meta teams. Though, obviously, if he was hydro (best element) or dendro (very meta at the moment), he'd definitely come out ahead. electro would also be useful, because, well, dendro related interactions. Pyro or cryo, I think he'd be less useful overall.
@@Axterix13 The point you tell about him being Geo and then not enterfering in reaction is a solid point IMO. Of course most of team require the 4 full slots, but in few team that spec is important. For example, i use that specificity when I play him with zonghli yelan and yoimiya so i know yoimiya will vape her shot and still have the geo damages from albedo included in that said shot. I dont know if i'm being clear, english is not my native language lol. But all that to say that i think this point was kinda missed in the video and is something to really consider when puting albedo in a non-mono geo team and eventually make use of that elemental mastery buff :)
@@Axterix13 think Pyro Albedo would still be a better version of Dehya with him being a burgeon trigger or even utilizing vape quite well since his dmg is already good and even better with it
I'm surprised that you didn't mention his annoying flower. Since it is a construct, it is easily breakable, making it useless in many situations. Considering everything he does revolves around the flower being present, he is borderline useless in boss fights. If it was indestructible, his viability would be far greater. Also the elevator part of the flower...you should be able to toggle that on or off. I find it almost always more of a nuisance than helpful.
that's not really true ? I mean, i use it all the time in every situation, appart from that sh*tty hydro boss where you can't put any geo structure, that is not really a problem imo. Like, you just have to put that flower aside and not in the boss' way, and if it eventually break it, the cd is so low you can easily put it back. Plus lot of boss have a staggered phase where they are stunned and do nothing and when people tend to use all of the burst from their team, and at this moment the flower is then un breakable since the boss doesnt move. And when you are used to the surprising lift you find in your way in a fight that you did not mean to take, i find it funny and use it to make a plunge attack right away, it usually give me a slight boost in damage for an attack. But the fact that i find it funny might be a personal thing and i can understand if you dont like it. The biggest issue if imo that he can not trigger his flower on abyssal mage shield and things like that
I wish Geo has *Phantom Constructs.* Let me explain. Aside from what was already discussed in the video, Albedo can be inefficient also because of the Geo Construct mechanic. Not just Albedo, but for all Geo characters with construct mechanics. I hate that geo constructs get destroyed so easily upon casting near big enemies/bosses or can’t be summoned on certain terrains, whereas turrets from other elements (such as Yae turrets, Oz, Guoba, DMC burst flower plant, Rosaria’s lance, etc) can be summoned without the restrictions that geo constructs have. It would be nice if Geo Constructs, once destroyed, leave a *phantom construct* that will continue doing their non-tangible functions, but they’d lose their physical properties or tangible features such as blocking attacks or being climb-able or being used as elevator. This way, we can truly enjoy and use Geo Constructs that same way we do with turrets from other elements. Albedo’s flower can continue proccing isotoma explosions, zhongli’s pillar can continue pulsing, Ningguang’s jade screen can continue giving elemental resistance and geo dmg bonus. Albedo is pretty much useless if his flower thing is destroyed. but a Phantom Geo Construct would maintain his usefulness even if his “physical/tangible” Geo Construct get destroyed. Hoyoverse really didn’t think through carefully enough when they made Geo Constructs. The Geo Construct mechanic have been long abandoned since.
I feel like Albedo also got done dirty when Dendro didn't introduce a reaction with Geo. I think whatever it was, even if it was the 'leaked' petrify that Zhongli does with his burst. Whatever they were planning with it, it would have been really cool to see. That and if they ever do add a reaction for Geo and Anemo, as it is possible to do on certain enemies, I do think there would be some serious potential for the poor man. I have missed him every time and darn it, I want to know when he's next re-run is Hoyoverse!
I always felt that on how relevant he is to the story, he is almost suited to have had a different element form. Like on how they do on Honkai Impact, same characters different attributes.
I don't considered myself Albedo main, but Albedo is unironically my most played character. He is always in my team because he is so easy to insert in the flex slot. His skill is just drop and forget about it. It's a free 20k+ damage every few seconds, while not really messing up with reaction.
Albedo has gone from an unit that you can slot into any team to complete double geo at the early days of the game to a specialist (only used in monogeo). As a monogeo enjoyer, he contributes to a huge amount of damage and a good consistent geo battery.
As someone who both has Albedo and his BiS, it really sucks that he has the potential to be more but he belongs in the element where it only works with itself. If he belonged in a different element, he's probably used more. He's alright with everybody but because of how he works, it's much better to use someone else who is better. He was my first limited 5 star, and that was during the event with his BiS. I was fortunate enough to experience him in his best. In early, game he's truly one of the best when it comes to sub dps/support. But he is power crept by more better chracters. In a mono geo team, he truly does shine as a battery. Mono geo was my first ever proper team while starting out. I was truly fortunate to get Albedo and Itto back to back, then Zhongli. It really is a great team that belongs in a not so great element.
As an Albedo main, the worse aspect of his kit is playing circle impact with him. Even placing a flower near the boss will trigger the hitbox, forcing you to place the flower where the boss is at the very edge. Love him regardless in my mono geo team
Albedo was my first 5 star character back in 1.2 when I started playing. As someone who didn't get Zhongli back then, his crystallize shield generated off the flower helped me so much in the early days. His short skill cooldown and low cost burst made him very easy to use. Sadly the current meta doesn't allow me to go back to him but he really carried me in early game.
Same, i still use him to this day and the story how i got him is arguably a nail biter. I was close to pity and only 10 mins left on his banner and in the last ten pull i could scrape together with my beginner freemogems i got him twice now i am waiting to get him c2. Albedo is still a valuable part in most of my teams with his good dmg and him beeing flexibel enough
Event quests should just be added to the character/hangout section along with event weapons. This way players can just install the quest and then remove the data once it's complete. The game doesn't have to become bloated this way.
Always wanted a Cyno team to work with Albedo. Cyno, Albedo, Xinqiu and Nahida. In my mind, the team synergy here would be Cyno benefitting from a shield (crystallise), meaning that he wouldn’t have to dodge enemy attacks so he could carry out proper combos instead of having to dodge attacks. Also, since it’s a quickbloom team and Cyno is Cyno, he would appreciate the EM buff granted by Albedo’s passive talent.
I was dreading this episode I love him as everything he is But I can't even have his signature weapon, and I'm desperately clinging on geo having reactions in the future...
I found Albedo to be very useful in the beginning, as he's a universal filler, bringing in good off-field damage for every team. Once I got more characters and the elemental system got more sophisticated, I rarely felt compelled to use him anymore except if I want to and the situation allows it (e.g. lower abyss levels).
He’s certainly a weird one. He’s got great AoE, but it’s geo so no elemental amplification, but his ascension passive gives EM, and his skill scales on def but ult scales on attack, and has a platform that lifts you up which is great for plunge dmg, but slow and kind of awkward. If he was any weirder, his name would be Xinyan. He makes a lot of geo particles though
I love albedo. Honestly I don’t understand why he wasn’t just made to be a standard banner character - it currently lacks any geo characters and his kit is simple and perfect for regular players.
perhaps hoyoverse already have plan for him, cuz if you think about it based of his lore he can draw anything and turned it into real thing even living creature (just watch his trailer he turned a butterfly into a bird) imagine if he draw all the gnosis and used them for himsef? he will end the story sooner but he chooses to be chill and being called as "weak character" so players could enjoy this game longer and gives other characters to get released he's too strong based of the lore , but perhaps he will have a bigger role in the end game? thats why they made him weak for now? who knows. he just...too misterious bro...no way they made him just like this...there must be something happen to him later but if its not, then fxk you hoyoverse im not speaking as his main but for the story sake cuz no way you just made him like this for no reason at all and stay like this untill the end game, also forgot about his potentials like that
I really like playing Albedo (unfortunately on HoD, because I started playing Genshin a few patches after Spindle). I mostly use him as as a Geo Battery for my Noelle, but one thing that REALLY holds him back in that role is how his skill works. It cannot trigger on Shields, requiring you to actually deal damage for the procc, and is tied to his Flower not being destroyed, something Bosses tend to do pretty easily.
What you didnt mention, or what i missed, is that albedo have split scaling , his E is individually a good ability that scales on DEF but the fact that his burst scales on ATK means that you can't have both his abilities contribute to the damage, making him half a good 5 star which is... a not so good 5 star
Like this is a big Problem for him. While his EM buff is nice: Casting his burst is sometimes really questionable in tight rotations and soemtimes not worth it because the on field time extents the rotation so much that it's overall an damage loss or to get the burst consistent you have to play so much ER that it cuts in his damage which gives worse results in the end. It's super sad
Just due to the awkward spot geo is rn, Gorou. Noelle, and Itto were create to be use on a full geo team (Gorou C6 buff depends on the amount of geo member in the team). If they release reaction for geo then Albedo and ningguang is the only one benefits from it due to his skill being aoe (larger aoe than yae) and ning being catalyst user + catalyst charge attack have 0 ICD. Geo need rework against elemental enemies not reaction, geo and anemo need shread against elemental shield or enemies.
Crystalize should at least be able to break shields similarly to how swirl does. It's infuriating how much my Itto struggles with abyss heralds and lecters cause of their shield phase.
@@thegreatBarbossa Atleast Itto E generate some energy. Noelle generate 0 energy and for some reason enemy with shield can't proc favonius weapon. Noelle is only usable on floor 11-12 during Itto or Eula rerun. Crystalize should have stacked and once it reach like 3 max it's gonna explode and break shield or something like that.
@@Tanubtanu well you can't do damage to a shield, and i mean "numbered damage", so you can't know when you've done a crit hit, because, well like i said, you can't hit the enemy itself behind it, and the shields don't have your traditional health bars, so you just can't activate the perk. which should be common knowledge but it's alright lol.
Albedo was the reason I started playing Genshin in the first place, and I even C2'd him, but I can't help but agree with the video. I very rarely find myself playing him in Abyss, and whenever I do try and slot him in it's always in a sub-optimal team thats trying to force the use of his EM buff and then most of the time I end up switching him out to more meta unit anyways. It's a real shame that his kit doesn't have full synergy with itself. Despite all this I still love to use him in, especially in overworld, and I'm lucky enough to be able to use him really well in mono Geo.
As a C6 Albedo main who saved up for ages for him, realizing that he slowly gets replaced in even his best 'meta' teams (double Hydro in Hu Tao, faruzan/bennett in Xiao Teams) is kinda sad. Great Video though! I hope they find a way to make Geo more useful as an element one day

I got Albedo purely to up my Itto mono geo team. I don’t regret pulling him with that reason. He’s also relatively easy to build I just wish geo would get more elemental reactions ):
Albedo was the first character I ever got, and he’s been my main ever since. When I first unlocked wishing when his first banner was up, I did my first ten pull and got him with zero pity. I have gotten super invested in Genshin characters and their lore and stuff, but albedo has been my favorite, his story and whole aura and characteristics have stuck out to me the most. He’s criminally underrated for such a cool and unique character. His play style I hear people complain about a lot, it is very simple and slower than a good amount if other characters, but if you build him right he is good for big shots of damage. And as I saw on another comment here, the only people who love albedo are literally die hard fans lol. Albedo supremacy.
a way they can make geo a little more effective as an element, is make the shields explode dealing damage of it's element whenever it breaks/expires/you gain a new one
I feel like if they make the damage of these explosions high enough (possibly on par with burgeon?) Geo supports like albedo will be really good (especially if the crystal explosions scale on EM)
Geo is holding back so many of it's units that the one thing I wish when Fontaine gets released is that the the element gets a revamp. Maybe release a brand new Geo unit who functions like Nilou in a way..?
They could do so many cool things with geo! Hydro + geo = mud to slow down enemies; geo + anemo = dust storm; geo + pyro = oh god rocks too hot; geo + cryo = something similar to hail. Pls hyv, we geo mains are suffering
I was hoping that when dendro came out it would have a specific reaction with geo, like constructs have the properties of the samachurls thorns. But maybe, like Nilou's bountiful cores, there could be a non geo character with a specific reaction changer that can enhance geo further.
I was hoping you would have covered the functionality issues that also decreases his usage. -His Skill is literally unusable when fighting larger enemies because it gets destroyed if you place it under them. So in fights where having constant dps over a single instance of high damage would be valuable, you cannot take advantage of what he should be used for. More recent characters like Dehya and Nahida which deal damage off-field in a similar way don't have these issues. While Dehya's off-field damage sucks Nahida is basically always a better choice than Albedo since she does more damage off field (even on field). -The game also gives dendro 5-stars better hybrid scaling such as Alhaitham and Nahida being able to use both Atk and EM where as Albedo has to choose between Atk for his skill's initial hit and burst or Def for off field damage.
A little surprised that you hadn't already done a video on Albedo. I am one of the lucky ones who do have his event weapon, and that whole story really made me want to pull him. He helped me through a number of early content pre Inazuma and his play patterns are quite user friendly for the most part (it's annoying when the flower auto locks to an enemy and therefore disappears) Unfortunately as you reiterated many many times, his main drawback is belonging to the worst element in the meta game. Have you considered doing a video on how Mihoyo could improve Geo perhaps with theoretical new reactions?
I mainly pulled Albedo for my Itto back during Nilou’s first run. I didn’t care for him a lot cause I found his personality to be the as dull as the dirt he came from but then I looked into Khoi Dao and now I love that I have him. Speaking of Itto, he was my first character since I started Genshin at the tail end of 2.3’s event. Which means I never got cinnabar spindle and it irritates me to no end how hoyo refuses to rerelease it in spite of continuously using it during trials.
i always loved albedo in large part because of the story. as a day 1 player iam at least lucky enough to have a spindle for him but even then it always confused me why he gives EM to the party instead of a lets say 20% all elemental dmg buff. The fact that he was released before the EM buffs in 1.6. People probably say " because he is like sucrose's teacher" but ffs sucrose gets a damage buff at c6 so wouldnt it make even more sense for him to do the same thing as her c6 as a base when he is the teacher? He is decent. i love slotting him on teams but there is never a situation where he is the best. in mono geo he somewhat is but even there not by a large margin because he is just big numba for that team aswell.

As someone who has had Albedo since he first came out, I agree with everything in this video. Albedo is one of my favorite characters, and I play him in mono geo now. Back in the day he was my main sub dps and I'm not sure how I would have gotten through the game witbout him. But he's outclassed, Geo isn’t a great element, and the flower field is too easily broken. I hope one day there will be more content for him to shine in.
Eh. Genshin is single player at the end of the day. Sure, it's nice to see the big pp numbers from meta teams in the Abyss. But I'm more concerned with playing characters that I genuinely enjoy. So I pulled for C4 Albedo and I got him and I'm enjoying his plunge buff for Gaming.
I mostly think that the whole geo element need a rework, it's way too restrictive and i think they know that considering the last geo character released is Yun Jin ... Which means it's been a while and they dont even care about geo at all right now. Let's all pray together my friends, geo will be strong one day ( i hope ). And that day, Albedo will shine as he should
You forgot to mention that his skill being a flower elevator can be really annoying to play around sometimes especially with Childe who has no plunge attack in melee stance.

His story event in Dragonspine was ingame when I first started playing, and it (in combination with dragonspine's excellent OST) was what really hooked me into the game. Homunculi and existence philosophy have been done to death in anime but the way it was presented in his story line was an immensely satisfying experience. Early in my gameplay he was always a comforting team slot and was servicable in most regards, but I find I don't play him at all anymore since the introduction of Dendro. I really do hope some form of Geo reaction update is in the future. PS Hitoshi Sakimoto music composition is so distinctive it's distracting
Before I quit genshin, my boy albedo was one mf my favs, yes he was basically a worse fischel (based on being more expensive, no reactions, and his flower dying to aoe slams) but hes sucha cute and cool boy and I love him ever since his first appearance
I love Albedo, but to use him more, I switched his artifacts to a deepwood set. The buff refreshes with each bloom blossom, and his burst gives 125 EM. I recommend trying it out.
I like Albedo in general, his voice is very soothing. And I don't hate his game play. But, honestly, I only ever use him for like floor 9 and maybe floor 10 of spiral abyss as part of my mass DoT team (Kokomi, Raiden, Albedo, Venti). And, truth be told, I probably could use someone else if I wanted to. I most use him because of personal loyalty. He's a nice character but, yeah, he's a really big go to. There are just so many other options. Plus his flower is so particular when you place it down.
Albedo was my first true 5 star (i got Jean first but I didn't like her so never built her). And he helped me through my baby stages of the game until I could build a good team!
I'd really like hoyo to make new 5 star weapons for all the early characters that have standard banner ones run when they do. Because really none of them are BiS or signature weapons for those characters. Ofc cinnibar should be free for all, I think all limited weapons should be available somehow for players who missed out but I doubt hoyo will do that.
I have him in a party with Itto, Gorou and Noelle. He's great. He is definitely one of those characters that you do not realize their versatility and usefulness until you have them. People tend to have ideas of what will work as their lead instead of practical application or learning by doing. When the currency to acquire characters reflects real world money it isn't hard to see why.
I currently have Albedo in a party with Hydro Traveler, Layla and Nahida and its very fun. That elemental mastery buff works for shatter and you can use Travelers skill from Albedos flower. So I freeze, shatter and produce dendro cores with a lot of off field damage. I think Albedo is a great character if you have a mind outside of popular opinion.
One other thing to note about his initial banner sales... He was released around Christmas 2020. Lots of people had just gotten a stimulus check, and Christmas gift money. So a fair amouny of people spent on his banner that normally wouldn't at the time.
I'm really hoping that when Navia gets released that they will fix Geo. I think in Neuvilette's team Albedo has a great slot since he cannot be paired with XQ and Neuv really benefits from those off-field reactions to have his passive on 100% uptime! I run Neuv with Albedo, Fischl and Baizhu. And yes I was there during the event and got the Cinnabar Spindle along with Albedo. :)
People sleep on 4 piece Archaic Petra for him. You lose some of his damage, but get a huge buff to another element. If you use someone that infuses your party like Candace or Chongyun, he can be on-field, do some damage, and be present for Gorou's crystallize shard magnet on his burst.

I tried TOF again, like 2-3 months ago... Not really good... I lack so many things, am confused on what to do, and its just another time sink. I would rather play Genshin as its much more polished and I already have tons of stuff... I also stopped playing Genshin tbh... I try to play other games, be variety. I was addicted to it for like 2 years.

As an albedo main, it hurts to see to his video but it’s inevitable since the combination of him being geo (arguably the worst element), having strict competition as a sub dps, and that his best in slot weapon is in a limited event really brings his value down a lot 😭

I'm not an Albedo Main (Diluc, here) but I dust off my Chalk Prince for each and every Abyss Cycle; Diluc with Serpent Spine wants his Double Geo reinforced Jade Shield.

I can mention how Earth element is treated on other games, offensive and defensive. Hoyo's problem is they run out of ideas and even use their new ideas to Dendro instead.

@@ghotifish1838 i partly agree, but he is the only shielder in the whole game w shield resistance to all of the elements equally, not to mention he has the highest base shield strength in the game. he also has 100% shield uptime easy cus his cd is much less than the shield duration. hoyo will never make a better shielder than him bc that would render him a basically useless unit and their revenue would go down.
Even if he isn’t the best, he is the most efficient Geo Battery since you can spam his skill, and pairing him with Gorou can get his numbers high in the 20Ks
He only brings particles when his blossom hits, i think either every 1 attack or 2
@@KindaMad958 It's a 66.6% chance to generate a particle per Blossom. He technically has the 3rd highest Geo particle generation potential, with the highest going to Geo Traveler and 2nd highest to C1 Zhongli, but Geo Traveler is impractical because no rotation is short enough to use their skill on cooldown and C1 Zhongli is impractical because he only generates more particles than Albedo when both pillars are consistently hitting an enemy.
You don't even need Gorou, mine consistently hits above the 30k's without Gorou on the team. (Geo bros comps)...tho, I do admit to have been very lucky with his artis.

The fact that his best in slot weapon comes from a Limited Time Event that most players did not participate in is already enough of a reason for a lot of people not to play him. It is insane how much that weapons improves him and the fact you cannot get it anymore is basically akin to a smack in the face for many who would like to play him at his highest potential.
And to rub salt in the wound even more, miHoYo will at times even give you a Trial Version of Albedo with the Cinnabar Spindle (in the latest Faze Trials Hypothesis Event for example).
I got him, but just a token C0. Once I learned that they would never reveal the weapon again, I shelved him. It's their own fault, and I doubt Hoyo would ever be kind enough to re-release it, or other event special items. After all, where's the money in that? :(

@@roberthake5349 I am in the same boat. Albedo is arguably my favourite character in Genshin, and I was so excited to finally get him. But I was so sad when I found out I missed out on his signature 4 star weapon right when I decided to take a break mainly because I was incredibly busy with studies for my exams at the time... I still love him, but I have mostly shelved him as well now because it really bothers me that I don't have the "full package" of my favourite character... And like the OP said, especially because Hoyoverse equips Albedo with the CS in his character trials...

@@spacedorito9592 This. If part of the crystalize reaction involved exploding and doing that elements damage then this would indeed give way more team synergy, and a reason to have elemental mastery on geo.
Geo is in such a sad state right now, and that’s only because it can’t get past any elemental shields other than itself. If Geo is supposed to be the most hardy element, then why can’t they make it so that Geo’s reactions smash other shields regardless of their element instead? They already have a good base with crystallize; if they make it so that whatever the element absorbed by crystallize breaks shields of the same element more efficiently, crystallize would be immensely useful. And who knows, albedo’s EM buff might finally see some appreciation. 😓
Also, this function also preserves the reputation of geo as uniquely insular, which I find appealing too.
Geo would still be mid if buffed to be solely a shieldbreaker but at this point ANY buff for geo is appreciated
@zaraki942 if they are really dead set on making Geo an isolated the element, I feel that crystallize shields should be able to reduce elemental resistance of the corresponding element or rework Geo constructs to be more useful
@@f4llenleaves Geo’s dmg scaling is actually really high to compensate for the lack of offensive reactions, so dmg in itself is not a problem. As I mentioned tho, Geo falls behind because most enemies we’re fighting in abyss now have elemental armor or shields that Geo can’t break fast enough. So I proposed an idea having crystallize help in breaking such shields based on whatever element it absorbed, but does no true dmg to enemy’s hp. It will not only help Geo be more desirable without making it too OP, but also encourage running the usual mono-element teams Geo is distinguished for but now with a slight EM investment.
@@ghotifish1838 The 4-piece petra set works similarly, but instead of shredding resistance it buffs elemental dmg based on what crystallize absorbed. I believe the devs intended for the set to make Geo characters viable for dual-element teams, which could work if timed correctly but AGAIN is hard to pull off if you’re fighting against shielded enemies, since you’ll be grappling with the element you’ll want to crystallize and the element the shield consists of, making it a very inconsistent and thus unreliable mechanic. 😞

Albedo's problems are almost entirely caused by geo. "Yellow Physical" always struggled to keep up with other elements because it has no synergy with any of them, and then dendro came along and buffed every element except geo (anemo can use infusions to react with it, cryo gets burn-melt, but geo gets nothing). And geo also gets the unique frustration of breakable constructs. It's strange that Hoyoverse made the element of their home country so terrible... but this does mean there's some hope it might get buffed eventually.
Easy solution to geo construct breakability: if physically destroyed, they should leave a geo outline of the construct, or a phantom construct.
As phantom constructs, they lose their physical/tangible properties such as blocking attacks, being climb-able, being used as elevator. But they will not break and enemies will just phase through them. Phantom constructs will last for the entirety of their durarion and they will continue their non-tangible functions, such as Albedo’s flower will continue to procc isotoma explosions but can no longer be used as elevator, or Zhongli’s pillar will continue to pulse, but can no longer block attacks or be climb-able.
Turrets from other elements don’t have breakability or summoning restrictions: Oz, Guoba, Yae Miko turrets, Yaoyao’s rabbit, Rosaria burst lance, Kokomi jellyfish, etc. Geo constructs should be treated the same way. And Phantom Geo constructs is the best way to fix the problem.

Albedo's offield and team composition potential is crazy but geo as an element in a reaction based game is just holding him back
@@hatooniewoomy Crystallize is another issue of geo. Crystallize is a key to make Geo synergize well with other elements. If fixed, it will open up new doors in team compositions.
my recommendations for crystallize:
- maximum crystallize shards on field should be increased from 3 to 5.
- if a crystallize shield breaks, there should be a small AoE dmg and will apply the element of the crystallize shield on at least 2-3 affected enemies. this way, crystallize can somehow spread elements too (although limited) just like Swirl. also, this way, Elemental Mastery would become a useful stat for geo characters because EM will affect the dmg of AoE crystallize explosion and would make crystallize shields stronger.
- characters equipped with Archaic Petra (AP) should automatically absorb crystallize shards if they’re on field. Through this, geo characters can become viable support carriers of Archaic Petra (the supposedly equivalent of Viridescent Venerer). effectively, players won’t have to always rely on Anemo VV characters to increase elemental dmg. (Kazuha or Sucrose or Venti can take a break). either you choose to slot in a flex Anemo unit or a Geo unit. Anemo VV would provide Swirl, grouping, spreading of elemental aura & elemental resistance shred. Geo AP would provide shielding, spreading of elemental aura & elemental buff dmg.

I want these Crystallize improvements to be applied on Crystallize itself, and not applied on one kit of a Geo character. I want EVERY geo character to benefit from Crystallize.
Geo is easy to improve imo. Hoyoverse is either lazy or doesn’t really want to improve Geo. I bet sales of Geo characters would increase significantly if only they’d improve Geo (Crystallize, Archaic Petra & Geo Constructs).
@@hatooniewoomy And then Hoyo can create a 5* Geo character (similar to Wanderer’s kit), where you get different buffs depending on the element that is Crystallized. Pyro crystallize would give Atk; Hydro crystallize gives HP & Healing; Electro crystallize gives ER & speed; Cryo crystallize gives Crit Rate.

i think Geo also deserves a reaction with Dendro. It’s so weird that these two elements don’t have a reaction. It’s earth/rock and plants. How is it that Hoyo can’t think of a reaction between Geo + Dendro? At least Geo should be able to react with Dendro Cores. i’d call it “Flourish” where vine constructs grow under enemies and lock them in place for some seconds. the reaction doesn’t have to do dmg. It can just be a utility reaction.
Also, Genshin is an elemental reaction game. Reactions are core to the gameplay of Genshin. So might as well create reactions for all possible elemental combo:
Geo + Anemo = Dust (lowers enemy attack accuracy)
Anemo + Dendro = Pollinate (makes enemies confuse and attack fellow enemies)
Dendro + Cryo = Wilt (decreases crit rate)
I'm still holding out hope that hoyoverse has more plans in mind with geo in the future purely based on albedo's em buff. I hope they rework crystallize or add more geo reactions.

@@KleberDKurosaki That would work but I think it'd be a bit too similar. Maybe they could make the crystalize shields give an elemental dmg bonus based on em to whoever picks them up. Similar to kazuha. Or maybe crystalize cores could have their own transformative reactions. Maybe they could just give different stacking or flat bonuses. Hydro cores give hp, pyro cores give flat atk/atk%, electro lowers icd? or maybe gives an energy regen bonus. Dendro could be an em buff, which would work great with albedo, just stacking a ton of elemental mastery. No idea for anemo or cryo.
Which is weird to me that geo has no sub element user even though we have gods who are known for controlling stuff that would be counted as a sub element to geo(salt and dust being 2 examples) like we went through the entirety of sumeru,a nation mostly covered by sand without a single sand bender,hell,without a single geo unit in sight,like if water and cold water are cou ted as their own separate elements then geo sure as hell can have some sub element users or an element modifier unit like nilou
The souvenir shop sometimes sells limited gadgets from events like the lyre and drum. They should also had event weapons rotate in these shops. Maybe make them a bit expensive to buy so that they aren’t too easy to get, but at least make them available
Predictions for this video: Albedo's main problem is that he is Geo, only really works as a Geo battery support and has little optimal use outside of that which makes him unpreferable to other options, something about Cinnabar Spindle.

@@King_Jockey Yes and no. One of his perks is that he is a good 4th slot character for pretty much any team. And he can be this because he's geo. He's unlikely to muck up elemental reactions. If he was a useful element, that would change. So he'd be more powerful in certain teams (and potentially have some META use beyond "second best off-field geo for geo resonance"), but he'd also see use in fewer non-meta teams. Though, obviously, if he was hydro (best element) or dendro (very meta at the moment), he'd definitely come out ahead. electro would also be useful, because, well, dendro related interactions. Pyro or cryo, I think he'd be less useful overall.
@@Axterix13 The point you tell about him being Geo and then not enterfering in reaction is a solid point IMO. Of course most of team require the 4 full slots, but in few team that spec is important. For example, i use that specificity when I play him with zonghli yelan and yoimiya so i know yoimiya will vape her shot and still have the geo damages from albedo included in that said shot. I dont know if i'm being clear, english is not my native language lol.
But all that to say that i think this point was kinda missed in the video and is something to really consider when puting albedo in a non-mono geo team and eventually make use of that elemental mastery buff :)

I'm surprised that you didn't mention his annoying flower. Since it is a construct, it is easily breakable, making it useless in many situations. Considering everything he does revolves around the flower being present, he is borderline useless in boss fights. If it was indestructible, his viability would be far greater. Also the elevator part of the flower...you should be able to toggle that on or off. I find it almost always more of a nuisance than helpful.
that's not really true ? I mean, i use it all the time in every situation, appart from that sh*tty hydro boss where you can't put any geo structure, that is not really a problem imo. Like, you just have to put that flower aside and not in the boss' way, and if it eventually break it, the cd is so low you can easily put it back. Plus lot of boss have a staggered phase where they are stunned and do nothing and when people tend to use all of the burst from their team, and at this moment the flower is then un breakable since the boss doesnt move.
And when you are used to the surprising lift you find in your way in a fight that you did not mean to take, i find it funny and use it to make a plunge attack right away, it usually give me a slight boost in damage for an attack. But the fact that i find it funny might be a personal thing and i can understand if you dont like it.
The biggest issue if imo that he can not trigger his flower on abyssal mage shield and things like that

I wish Geo has *Phantom Constructs.* Let me explain.
Aside from what was already discussed in the video, Albedo can be inefficient also because of the Geo Construct mechanic. Not just Albedo, but for all Geo characters with construct mechanics. I hate that geo constructs get destroyed so easily upon casting near big enemies/bosses or can’t be summoned on certain terrains, whereas turrets from other elements (such as Yae turrets, Oz, Guoba, DMC burst flower plant, Rosaria’s lance, etc) can be summoned without the restrictions that geo constructs have.
It would be nice if Geo Constructs, once destroyed, leave a *phantom construct* that will continue doing their non-tangible functions, but they’d lose their physical properties or tangible features such as blocking attacks or being climb-able or being used as elevator. This way, we can truly enjoy and use Geo Constructs that same way we do with turrets from other elements. Albedo’s flower can continue proccing isotoma explosions, zhongli’s pillar can continue pulsing, Ningguang’s jade screen can continue giving elemental resistance and geo dmg bonus.
Albedo is pretty much useless if his flower thing is destroyed. but a Phantom Geo Construct would maintain his usefulness even if his “physical/tangible” Geo Construct get destroyed.
Hoyoverse really didn’t think through carefully enough when they made Geo Constructs. The Geo Construct mechanic have been long abandoned since.
I feel like Albedo also got done dirty when Dendro didn't introduce a reaction with Geo. I think whatever it was, even if it was the 'leaked' petrify that Zhongli does with his burst. Whatever they were planning with it, it would have been really cool to see. That and if they ever do add a reaction for Geo and Anemo, as it is possible to do on certain enemies, I do think there would be some serious potential for the poor man. I have missed him every time and darn it, I want to know when he's next re-run is Hoyoverse!

I don't considered myself Albedo main, but Albedo is unironically my most played character.
He is always in my team because he is so easy to insert in the flex slot. His skill is just drop and forget about it. It's a free 20k+ damage every few seconds, while not really messing up with reaction.
and the geo crystals are a free interruption resistance. he's a very good off-field sub dps
Albedo has gone from an unit that you can slot into any team to complete double geo at the early days of the game to a specialist (only used in monogeo). As a monogeo enjoyer, he contributes to a huge amount of damage and a good consistent geo battery.
As someone who both has Albedo and his BiS, it really sucks that he has the potential to be more but he belongs in the element where it only works with itself. If he belonged in a different element, he's probably used more. He's alright with everybody but because of how he works, it's much better to use someone else who is better.
He was my first limited 5 star, and that was during the event with his BiS. I was fortunate enough to experience him in his best. In early, game he's truly one of the best when it comes to sub dps/support. But he is power crept by more better chracters.
In a mono geo team, he truly does shine as a battery. Mono geo was my first ever proper team while starting out. I was truly fortunate to get Albedo and Itto back to back, then Zhongli. It really is a great team that belongs in a not so great element.

I will never forgive Hoyo for making Albedo’s best weapon in a limited event. The Weapon Banner is cursed and I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy……
As an Albedo main, the worse aspect of his kit is playing circle impact with him. Even placing a flower near the boss will trigger the hitbox, forcing you to place the flower where the boss is at the very edge. Love him regardless in my mono geo team
Albedo was my first 5 star character back in 1.2 when I started playing. As someone who didn't get Zhongli back then, his crystallize shield generated off the flower helped me so much in the early days. His short skill cooldown and low cost burst made him very easy to use. Sadly the current meta doesn't allow me to go back to him but he really carried me in early game.
Same, i still use him to this day and the story how i got him is arguably a nail biter. I was close to pity and only 10 mins left on his banner and in the last ten pull i could scrape together with my beginner freemogems i got him twice now i am waiting to get him c2. Albedo is still a valuable part in most of my teams with his good dmg and him beeing flexibel enough
Event quests should just be added to the character/hangout section along with event weapons. This way players can just install the quest and then remove the data once it's complete. The game doesn't have to become bloated this way.
Always wanted a Cyno team to work with Albedo. Cyno, Albedo, Xinqiu and Nahida. In my mind, the team synergy here would be Cyno benefitting from a shield (crystallise), meaning that he wouldn’t have to dodge enemy attacks
so he could carry out proper combos instead of having to dodge attacks. Also, since it’s a quickbloom team and Cyno is Cyno, he would appreciate the EM buff granted by Albedo’s passive talent.

I found Albedo to be very useful in the beginning, as he's a universal filler, bringing in good off-field damage for every team. Once I got more characters and the elemental system got more sophisticated, I rarely felt compelled to use him anymore except if I want to and the situation allows it (e.g. lower abyss levels).
Here after Navia release. She and Albedo make a great duo. Throw in Xingqiu and an Electro off-fielder to get yourself a Crystallize heaven for Navia!

He’s certainly a weird one. He’s got great AoE, but it’s geo so no elemental amplification, but his ascension passive gives EM, and his skill scales on def but ult scales on attack, and has a platform that lifts you up which is great for plunge dmg, but slow and kind of awkward. If he was any weirder, his name would be Xinyan. He makes a lot of geo particles though

albedo is my fav flex character. whenever i have an open slot on a team, he's generally my first choice. his passive dmg and em buff always help
I love albedo. Honestly I don’t understand why he wasn’t just made to be a standard banner character - it currently lacks any geo characters and his kit is simple and perfect for regular players.

I really like playing Albedo (unfortunately on HoD, because I started playing Genshin a few patches after Spindle). I mostly use him as as a Geo Battery for my Noelle, but one thing that REALLY holds him back in that role is how his skill works. It cannot trigger on Shields, requiring you to actually deal damage for the procc, and is tied to his Flower not being destroyed, something Bosses tend to do pretty easily.
What you didnt mention, or what i missed, is that albedo have split scaling , his E is individually a good ability that scales on DEF but the fact that his burst scales on ATK means that you can't have both his abilities contribute to the damage, making him half a good 5 star which is... a not so good 5 star
Like this is a big Problem for him. While his EM buff is nice: Casting his burst is sometimes really questionable in tight rotations and soemtimes not worth it because the on field time extents the rotation so much that it's overall an damage loss or to get the burst consistent you have to play so much ER that it cuts in his damage which gives worse results in the end. It's super sad

Just due to the awkward spot geo is rn, Gorou. Noelle, and Itto were create to be use on a full geo team (Gorou C6 buff depends on the amount of geo member in the team). If they release reaction for geo then Albedo and ningguang is the only one benefits from it due to his skill being aoe (larger aoe than yae) and ning being catalyst user + catalyst charge attack have 0 ICD. Geo need rework against elemental enemies not reaction, geo and anemo need shread against elemental shield or enemies.
Crystalize should at least be able to break shields similarly to how swirl does. It's infuriating how much my Itto struggles with abyss heralds and lecters cause of their shield phase.
@@thegreatBarbossa Atleast Itto E generate some energy. Noelle generate 0 energy and for some reason enemy with shield can't proc favonius weapon. Noelle is only usable on floor 11-12 during Itto or Eula rerun. Crystalize should have stacked and once it reach like 3 max it's gonna explode and break shield or something like that.
@@Tanubtanu well you can't do damage to a shield, and i mean "numbered damage", so you can't know when you've done a crit hit, because, well like i said, you can't hit the enemy itself behind it, and the shields don't have your traditional health bars, so you just can't activate the perk. which should be common knowledge but it's alright lol.
Albedo was the reason I started playing Genshin in the first place, and I even C2'd him, but I can't help but agree with the video. I very rarely find myself playing him in Abyss, and whenever I do try and slot him in it's always in a sub-optimal team thats trying to force the use of his EM buff and then most of the time I end up switching him out to more meta unit anyways. It's a real shame that his kit doesn't have full synergy with itself. Despite all this I still love to use him in, especially in overworld, and I'm lucky enough to be able to use him really well in mono Geo.
I’ve got the Cinnabar Spindle but I always used to lose the 50/50 whenever Albedo showed.
As a C6 Albedo main who saved up for ages for him, realizing that he slowly gets replaced in even his best 'meta' teams (double Hydro in Hu Tao, faruzan/bennett in Xiao Teams) is kinda sad. Great Video though! I hope they find a way to make Geo more useful as an element one day

Albedo was the first character I ever got, and he’s been my main ever since. When I first unlocked wishing when his first banner was up, I did my first ten pull and got him with zero pity. I have gotten super invested in Genshin characters and their lore and stuff, but albedo has been my favorite, his story and whole aura and characteristics have stuck out to me the most. He’s criminally underrated for such a cool and unique character. His play style I hear people complain about a lot, it is very simple and slower than a good amount if other characters, but if you build him right he is good for big shots of damage. And as I saw on another comment here, the only people who love albedo are literally die hard fans lol. Albedo supremacy.

a way they can make geo a little more effective as an element, is make the shields explode dealing damage of it's element whenever it breaks/expires/you gain a new one
I feel like if they make the damage of these explosions high enough (possibly on par with burgeon?) Geo supports like albedo will be really good (especially if the crystal explosions scale on EM)
Geo is holding back so many of it's units that the one thing I wish when Fontaine gets released is that the the element gets a revamp. Maybe release a brand new Geo unit who functions like Nilou in a way..?
They could do so many cool things with geo! Hydro + geo = mud to slow down enemies; geo + anemo = dust storm; geo + pyro = oh god rocks too hot; geo + cryo = something similar to hail.

I was hoping that when dendro came out it would have a specific reaction with geo, like constructs have the properties of the samachurls thorns. But maybe, like Nilou's bountiful cores, there could be a non geo character with a specific reaction changer that can enhance geo further.
I was hoping you would have covered the functionality issues that also decreases his usage.
-His Skill is literally unusable when fighting larger enemies because it gets destroyed if you place it under them. So in fights where having constant dps over a single instance of high damage would be valuable, you cannot take advantage of what he should be used for.
More recent characters like Dehya and Nahida which deal damage off-field in a similar way don't have these issues. While Dehya's off-field damage sucks Nahida is basically always a better choice than Albedo since she does more damage off field (even on field).
-The game also gives dendro 5-stars better hybrid scaling such as Alhaitham and Nahida being able to use both Atk and EM where as Albedo has to choose between Atk for his skill's initial hit and burst or Def for off field damage.
Man... Imagine a Dendro Albedo... That EM bonus plus his ability would be one of the most broken characters in the game...

A little surprised that you hadn't already done a video on Albedo.
I am one of the lucky ones who do have his event weapon, and that whole story really made me want to pull him.
He helped me through a number of early content pre Inazuma and his play patterns are quite user friendly for the most part (it's annoying when the flower auto locks to an enemy and therefore disappears)
Unfortunately as you reiterated many many times, his main drawback is belonging to the worst element in the meta game.
Have you considered doing a video on how Mihoyo could improve Geo perhaps with theoretical new reactions?
Good thing that Navia is out now, its not a buff for Nlbedo but it gives him a new team for him to occupy.
I mainly pulled Albedo for my Itto back during Nilou’s first run. I didn’t care for him a lot cause I found his personality to be the as dull as the dirt he came from but then I looked into Khoi Dao and now I love that I have him.
Speaking of Itto, he was my first character since I started Genshin at the tail end of 2.3’s event. Which means I never got cinnabar spindle and it irritates me to no end how hoyo refuses to rerelease it in spite of continuously using it during trials.
I still use albedo, I just love him, who cares about meta and what’s best, he’s still good
i always loved albedo in large part because of the story. as a day 1 player iam at least lucky enough to have a spindle for him but even then it always confused me why he gives EM to the party instead of a lets say 20% all elemental dmg buff. The fact that he was released before the EM buffs in 1.6. People probably say " because he is like sucrose's teacher" but ffs sucrose gets a damage buff at c6 so wouldnt it make even more sense for him to do the same thing as her c6 as a base when he is the teacher? He is decent. i love slotting him on teams but there is never a situation where he is the best. in mono geo he somewhat is but even there not by a large margin because he is just big numba for that team aswell.

As someone who has had Albedo since he first came out, I agree with everything in this video. Albedo is one of my favorite characters, and I play him in mono geo now. Back in the day he was my main sub dps and I'm not sure how I would have gotten through the game witbout him. But he's outclassed, Geo isn’t a great element, and the flower field is too easily broken. I hope one day there will be more content for him to shine in.

Eh. Genshin is single player at the end of the day. Sure, it's nice to see the big pp numbers from meta teams in the Abyss. But I'm more concerned with playing characters that I genuinely enjoy. So I pulled for C4 Albedo and I got him and I'm enjoying his plunge buff for Gaming.

I mostly think that the whole geo element need a rework, it's way too restrictive and i think they know that considering the last geo character released is Yun Jin ... Which means it's been a while and they dont even care about geo at all right now. Let's all pray together my friends, geo will be strong one day ( i hope ). And that day, Albedo will shine as he should
You forgot to mention that his skill being a flower elevator can be really annoying to play around sometimes especially with Childe who has no plunge attack in melee stance.

It's also weird how he is like the 1 limited five star that doesn't have a best in slot weapon that appears on the banner with him.
His story event in Dragonspine was ingame when I first started playing, and it (in combination with dragonspine's excellent OST) was what really hooked me into the game. Homunculi and existence philosophy have been done to death in anime but the way it was presented in his story line was an immensely satisfying experience. Early in my gameplay he was always a comforting team slot and was servicable in most regards, but I find I don't play him at all anymore since the introduction of Dendro. I really do hope some form of Geo reaction update is in the future. PS Hitoshi Sakimoto music composition is so distinctive it's distracting

Before I quit genshin, my boy albedo was one mf my favs, yes he was basically a worse fischel (based on being more expensive, no reactions, and his flower dying to aoe slams) but hes sucha cute and cool boy and I love him ever since his first appearance
I love Albedo, but to use him more, I switched his artifacts to a deepwood set. The buff refreshes with each bloom blossom, and his burst gives 125 EM. I recommend trying it out.
Please let me know if you've realised this, because I genuinely think he's a viable flex option 😭😭

I like Albedo in general, his voice is very soothing. And I don't hate his game play. But, honestly, I only ever use him for like floor 9 and maybe floor 10 of spiral abyss as part of my mass DoT team (Kokomi, Raiden, Albedo, Venti). And, truth be told, I probably could use someone else if I wanted to. I most use him because of personal loyalty. He's a nice character but, yeah, he's a really big go to. There are just so many other options. Plus his flower is so particular when you place it down.

I'd really like hoyo to make new 5 star weapons for all the early characters that have standard banner ones run when they do. Because really none of them are BiS or signature weapons for those characters. Ofc cinnibar should be free for all, I think all limited weapons should be available somehow for players who missed out but I doubt hoyo will do that.

I have him in a party with Itto, Gorou and Noelle. He's great. He is definitely one of those characters that you do not realize their versatility and usefulness until you have them. People tend to have ideas of what will work as their lead instead of practical application or learning by doing. When the currency to acquire characters reflects real world money it isn't hard to see why.

The fact that any half-wit with a stutter can destroy albedo's elemental skill makes this character utterly useless
I currently have Albedo in a party with Hydro Traveler, Layla and Nahida and its very fun. That elemental mastery buff works for shatter and you can use Travelers skill from Albedos flower. So I freeze, shatter and produce dendro cores with a lot of off field damage. I think Albedo is a great character if you have a mind outside of popular opinion.
One other thing to note about his initial banner sales... He was released around Christmas 2020. Lots of people had just gotten a stimulus check, and Christmas gift money. So a fair amouny of people spent on his banner that normally wouldn't at the time.

I think in Neuvilette's team Albedo has a great slot since he cannot be paired with XQ and Neuv really benefits from those off-field reactions to have his passive on 100% uptime! I run Neuv with Albedo, Fischl and Baizhu.
And yes I was there during the event and got the Cinnabar Spindle along with Albedo. :)
People sleep on 4 piece Archaic Petra for him. You lose some of his damage, but get a huge buff to another element. If you use someone that infuses your party like Candace or Chongyun, he can be on-field, do some damage, and be present for Gorou's crystallize shard magnet on his burst.
I've heard from ahem ahem someone that Navia could boost Albedo's usage rates...
