@@petatap Soprano sax is generally considered to have the most similar sound to the oboe of anything outside the double-reed family. It is not uncommon for a soprano sax to perform oboe parts when no oboe is available, and many classical soprano sax players, gravitate towards the oboe repertoire, since the instrument was invented too late for compositions from any of the 18th and 19th century masters. The sound is not the same, but the similarities have been widely observed. For me, it has qualities of the oboe, trumpet and clarinet, depending both on the register and technique.
@@ninjaaron It is a great performance!!! I only said that here the acoustic sound is very different (sometimes closer to the clarinet, here). If amplified in a band I often can't find the difference between soprano sax and oboe.
Superb sax tone and technique, and gorgeous string sound too. What a shame the saxophone was invented too late for the great composers of the past!
I concur.
And what a shame that great composers of the present can't get their work played.
Wish I played half this well. Outstanding.
Great player, awesome soprano sound beautiful performance !! Mozart's music all sounds the same.
This makes so much sense. Mozart would have been pleased.
(Speaking as a clarinetist who has been eyeing this piece myself)
You make a similar oboe sound and I like it! Bravo!!
no (for the sound of the oboe). but I like it, too.
