First off, appreciate the constructive criticism. Now, for a quick fact-check: Aaron Judge hit in the 2-spot for the majority of his 62-home-run season and, newsflash, for much of his career. Why? Because the second spot gets more plate appearances than any lineup position except leadoff, which means more chances for the best hitter to impact the game. This isn’t some galaxy-brain theory; it’s supported by decades of data and has become standard practice for teams prioritizing run production.
Watching Wells struggle so much in the cleanup spot in the WS was brutal. I’d drop him down to the bottom nine until he proves he can hit consistently.
I wouldn't bash Peraza too bad. He has had some injury issues. We seen him play extremely well a few years ago when brought up late in the season. I hope the Yankees give the kid a chance like they did Volpe and play an entire season. He needs the reps. He is an A plus defender.
Thanks for the rundown! I see many offensive issues here. Volpe inconsistent, Goldschmidt struggled, Stanton is seriously inconsistent, Jazz low batting average, Dominguez remains to be seen, Wells not strong on offense. Peraza low batting average. Judge is the only one I put my money on.
@PinstripeTerritory Besides the Red Sox with their 6-7 starters and offensive power and great defense... I don't see anyone else. My issue is consistency. I think our pitching looks sharp especially with our 10 relievers. I'm concerned about the ability to string hits together. We can't win on longball alone.
@@doublem1975x yea the dodgers sure were lucky to demolish everybody and lucky enough to be better than every other team in the major leagues but sure it’s all about luck.

Hey Derek! Very solid video, as per usual.. In generall we’re pretty much in agreement about everything Yankees that’s going on with the lineup right now. (Other than I would maybe flip-flop Dominguez and Jazz until Dominguez shows he can get on base better than Jazz from both sides of the plate) I had one (hopefully it’s coming off as friendly and not overly critical) production note, as a longtime fan of the Yankees, the show, and Jazz music, as well as a professional Sax player who plays Jazz IRL and studied it in college, etc…. You, the Yankees, Jazz Chisholm and Jazz music are too hip to have that be Jazz’s sound bite haha (said with love - if you absolutely love what you’ve picked and I’ve insulted you, my apologies, but on the off chance you just guessed because you weren’t sure, I couldn’t just let it go down like that). If you’re interested in friendly recommendations, tunes where you could find a more powerful/serious/hip option for his sound-bite music could be: 1. A Shade of Jade by Joe Henderson from the record “Mode for Joe” 2. Resolution from John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme (when the band comes in, not the upright bass solo intro) 3. Anything from the Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers records “Mosaic” or “Indestructible” If you’re interested in more recommendations, I’ve got literally probably a million of em haha - thanks for doing what you do and hope this came off as helpful and not insulting.. much love, bro!
They could use another bat but they don't need it for all 162. Get another bat at the deadline, that way we can pick someone who has proven they are having a good year for the final stretch and playoffs
1.Dominguez 2.Judge 3. Bellinger 4. Stanton 5. Goldschmidt 6.Jazz 7. Volpe 8.Wells 9. Peraza/DJ/Cabrera They need to give Dominguez first chance at lead off and live with him even if he struggles give him a full major league season can always move him down and also start Wells lower and can always move him back up
Agree with defensive alignment, although Paraza and Chism could be flipped and Michael Kay said to put Bellinger in left and Dominguez in center field where he will be more comfortable given his poor defense in left field in the post season last year.
I think they start the season with Volpe at leadoff. I also feel your lineup has too many double play guys in a row with Stanton, Wells and Goldy. I was thinking the lineup looks more like this Volpe, Judge, Belli, Stanton, Jazz, Goldy, Wells, Dominguez, Oswaldo.
Give Peraza his chance. Leadoff hitter could be flexible. Volpe, Chisholm and Dominguez could I lead off with that flexibility. Goldschmidt batting clean up, Stanton batting fifth. Make Bellinger the second hitter and Judge batting third. I like .the idea of Ben Rice at first base and backup catcher to Wells
I know Goldy at leadoff hasn’t been talked about, but I think he’d be the best guy we have for it. He’s a career .380 OBP and consummate professional. I think he can alter his approach to be a leadoff hitter successfully. I think Belli second because he too is a high OBP guy and he’ll get strikes because of judge’s protection plus he’s a low strikeout guy. Judge and Stanton back to back because they’re the high slug guys.
Wells 5th since he’s got a good eye and he was a victim of some bad luck last year so I think he can rebound to be a nearly .350 OBP guy and I want guys to get on base for the next 4 guys.
This lineup is essentially OBP and slug from 1-5 and then 6-9 is speed and some slug (Jazz, maybe Jasson). I want Jasson to lead off eventually, I just don’t think you can do that to start the season.
Also having the speed at the end of the lineup means we can still wreak havoc (getting pitchers to disengage, steals, etc) and also means we can potentially get runs to score from first on doubles and what not. We may not have much slugging from 6-9 so let’s just bunch up the speed and jazz, jasson, and Volpe are all guys who have potential to steal 30+ bases. And I also wouldn’t want base stealers in front of judge and Stanton anyway. Judge and Stanton are such extra base hit threats that stealing second almost doesn’t matter a lot. Would love your thoughts on this because I don’t see anyone really posing the idea of Goldy at leadoff. And sorry about being a bit ranty, I’m just looking forward to this season a ton!
If we’re going with what we have in house at third I’d much rather oswaldo he’s at least shown he can hit a little bit at the major league level and he’s another switch hitter to add to the lineup
One of the Jungs at 3B. If you get Jace or Vierling if DET signs Bregman, I would try to send DJ & $25M to DET as a throw in for him to be the bench piece/def IF mentor because their defense at 2B/1B is not good and DJ is a Detroit guy, so a change of pressure from NYY-DET would be good for him too.
Peraza, Cabrera were supposed to be great up and coming youth.. lmao. Fails. I'm running out of patience for the youth they keep telling us about. Cabrera can't hit from either side. He needs to pick one and get better at that. Austin Wells can have a pretty swing. It doesn't matter when you can't make contact. This team has way too many .200 hitters. Give me players who strive for that .300 like previous players.
1. Volpe 2. Bellinger 3. Judge 4. Goldy 5. Wells 6. Stanton 7. Chisholm 8. Dominguez 9.? Belli would see way more pitches to hit if he bats ahead of Judge and he's a good baserunner. I think Goldy is gonna have better season. Wells and Chisolm could flip spots depending on who's hot. Volpe needs take at bats like he did in the playoffs. Dominguez changes everything if he's legit.
Can I be honest man? I love your channel, but this lineup has to be your worst take. Do not do to Dominguez what we did to Volpe and put all that pressure on them to lead off. I’d argue that hitting him in front of judge would actually take pressure off of him because it’s the best spot in the order to hit. He was batting cleanup in his second game in the major leagues, protecting the big bats in the lineup - Now that is pressure.
I'm not seeing the Yankees as a young player being thrust into the leadoff spot. Just don't see the organization doing that with him. I'm seeing Dominguez in CF not LF
Judge with 144 RBI last year with Soto getting on base constantly to drive in front of him will lose loads of RBI this year & with back to batting 2nd. Probably lose at least 30 RBI from last season
Volpe SS (R) Jazz 2nd (L) Judge RF (R) Bellinger CF (L) Stanton DH (R) Dominguez LF (S) Goldy 1st (R) Wells C (L) Peraza/Carbera 3rd (R/S) Would like them to sign a 3rd baseman
We are in denial that DJ is both the starting 3rd baseman and leadoff hitter. I'd go with Jazz as a leadoff as he's a distraction for the pitcher while Judge is at the plate.
Dj would be if he is 100% healthy which I don’t think he is. Theres a reason he’s not back at his spot of leadoff or 3b/2b. Dominguez can steal as much if not better than jazz.
@@JMGarcia0303 I agree. At least from our side it seems he won’t get back to dj status that we know. I think that’s why they haven’t moved him because teams know he will fail a physical or no one wants to take a chance on him and give up something
Yes, another, preferable left-handed, bat would be good. But take heart. The 27 Yankees are supposed to be the gold standard and they had a colorful but average, player, Jumping Joe Dugan, at third, _and he had a bad year_ and none of their Catchers hit, although they did keep the ball from rolling to the backstop. This team, as it stands, is good enough to make the playoffs and after that it's going to be a crapshoot anyway.
Cody will rake with protection from Judge. Wells has no business batting cleanup. He couldn't hit a fastball to save his life. 😂🤣🤣 Lets go with this.. Dominguez, Bellinger, Judge, Goldy, Jazz, Stanton, Wells, Volpe, Peraza or Cabrera. Lineup against lefty pitching.. Volpe, Goldy, Judge, Cody, Stanton, Dominguez, Jazz, Wells, Peraza
Here's my lineup 1. Jazz Chisholm - L 2. Aaron Judge - R 3. Jasson dominguez - S 4. Cody Bellinger - L 5. Giancarlo Stanton- R 6. Austin Wells - L 7. Paul Goldschmidt - R 8. Oswaldo Cabrera - S 9. Anthony Volpe - R I would put jazz at leadoff because you always need that speed threat at the top plus he has some left handed power mixed with a lil contact. Of course against leftys put Volpe at leadoff
I don’t agree. Normally you’re correct, but Judge has so much power at the number two spot, you don’t care that much about speed, you just care about OBP for your leadoff hitter.
Dominguez struggled little bit last summer fall? He frankly was awful and rightfully lost to Doogie. But he needs to start and be given commitment to 50% season and time for him sh1t or get off the pot. Done with hearing the possibilities
Don't understand your line-up. You want a lead-off hitter with a good OBP and speed, and I submit that Jazz and his 40 SB is a better fit, especially against righties. Similarly, I want a solid hitter at number two, but not wasting my top RBI producer (Judge), and so I would suggest Paul Goldschmidt (a career 289 hitter) or Anthony Volpe. Yes, you can move Judge to 3-spot and then Bellinger to clean-up, followed by Stanton at 5-spot, then Wells or Dominguez at 6, LeMahieu (not Peraza) at 7, and if Le-Mahieu return to form and gets above 260, you can re-arrange the order. Of course, you're right to want to keep it L-R as much as possible. If Dominguez finds himself as a solid OBP in the majors, then sure, it's fine to move him to lead-off, but still think that having a few good runners in front of Judge and Bellinger is best. One more thought, the other possibility is trying Bellinger at lead-off, He's got good OBP and good speed.
Speed isn’t that important in front of Judge because typically the Yankees don’t steal when he’s on base. They wait for him to pop one out of the ballpark. Jazz Chisholm steals a lot of bases but his OBP is low, where as Dominguez has always been a high OBP guy in the minors - plus he’s a switch hitter so you can run him out there every day. That’s my thinking.
Yankees are always hyper cautious. The Martian won't be put into the leadoff slot right away. He'll be way down in the order until he proves his swing is back. Third slot is for your best hitter. Judge is third.
You’re an idiot, judge batting 2nd? You don’t know crap about baseball

@@cvillain2677 I just hope they don't get "creative" with DJ. He's done for. We know it, let's hope Boone knows it.
@@JMGarcia0303 I agree. At least from our side it seems he won’t get back to dj status that we know. I think that’s why they haven’t moved him because teams know he will fail a physical or no one wants to take a chance on him and give up something
Derek do you miss the 2019 yankees
I’ve been very pleased how things are shaping up . I hope Ben Rice is included
Yankees Rotation 5 ..Cole, Fried, GiL ,rodon , Schmidt..2025 ..💪💪💪💪💪
Yes, another, preferable left-handed, bat would be good. But take heart. The 27 Yankees are supposed to be the gold standard and they had a colorful but average, player, Jumping Joe Dugan, at third, _and he had a bad year_ and none of their Catchers hit, although they did keep the ball from rolling to the backstop.
This team, as it stands, is good enough to make the playoffs and after that it's going to be a crapshoot anyway.
As of right now, these would be my lineups:
Vs RHP
1. Chisholm (L)
2. Dominguez (S)
3. Judge (R)
4. Bellinger (L)
5. Stanton (R)
6. Goldschmidt (R)
7. Wells (L)
8. Peraza (R)
9. Volpe (R)
Vs LHP
1. Volpe (R)
2. Dominguez (S)
3. Judge (R)
4. Stanton (R)
5. Bellinger (L)
6. Goldschmidt (R)
7. Chisholm (L)
8. Peraza (R)
9. Rice (L)
I would move Judge back to second in the lineup if he struggles in the first 1-2 months of the season again.
Im a yankees fan, but it don't matter what team we put out there. As long as we have Boone at the helm, we're not winning anything
Maybe you think that you can do a better job than Boone which I highly doubt.
Cody will rake with protection from Judge. Wells has no business batting cleanup. He couldn't hit a fastball to save his life. 😂🤣🤣
Lets go with this.. Dominguez, Bellinger, Judge, Goldy, Jazz, Stanton, Wells, Volpe, Peraza or Cabrera.
Lineup against lefty pitching..
Volpe, Goldy, Judge, Cody, Stanton, Dominguez, Jazz, Wells, Peraza
Here's my lineup
1. Jazz Chisholm - L
2. Aaron Judge - R
3. Jasson dominguez - S
4. Cody Bellinger - L
5. Giancarlo Stanton- R
6. Austin Wells - L
7. Paul Goldschmidt - R
8. Oswaldo Cabrera - S
9. Anthony Volpe - R
I would put jazz at leadoff because you always need that speed threat at the top plus he has some left handed power mixed with a lil contact.
Of course against leftys put Volpe at leadoff
I don’t agree. Normally you’re correct, but Judge has so much power at the number two spot, you don’t care that much about speed, you just care about OBP for your leadoff hitter.
@@kidswithcash2814judge Batting 2nd would be better knowing dominguez is a switch hitter. Well played. Lol just made the lineup change
Volpe
Jazz
Judge
Belli
Stanton
Dominguez
Wells
Peraza
Martian, judge, Bellinger, Goldschmidt, Stanton, chissum, Volpe, Wells Peraza
OR Bellinger, Martian, Judge, Stanton, Chizzzzam, Goldy, Wells, Volpe, Peraza
He going to be the next great ok
Dominguez struggled little bit last summer fall? He frankly was awful and rightfully lost to Doogie. But he needs to start and be given commitment to 50% season and time for him sh1t or get off the pot. Done with hearing the possibilities
Jazz to lead off, jason, then judge , station, the belli,
I’m kinda thinking Dj has a bounce back year, not like 2019 but like bats .250 with 50 RBIs
I like your line up but I would switch beli and dominquez.
Yanks need to trade with SD and try and get Manny Machado or Fernando Tatís Jr.
They aren’t trading either of them, what was the point of this comment
Yankees are always hyper cautious. The Martian won't be put into the leadoff slot right away. He'll be way down in the order until he proves his swing is back. Third slot is for your best hitter. Judge is third.
