Pocketing for Steel Leg

Using the template we made to pocket in for these steel table legs on the back of this cherry table top. The pattern bit worked perfectly following the template, once the majority was cut a corner chisel made for easy squaring of the edges for a perfect fit! Check out the tools used on our site -

I’ve done this before and found out later that the wood I used which was supposed to be kiln dried, still shrunk and the recessed frame caused the joints to break. I’d recommend leaving 10mm at the ends for possible shrinkage.

Isn't 10mm top much? Can't possibly shrink 2cm. Maybe leave 5mm around? Not a woodworker, just feels like 1cm is a lot really

Yeah im sure they are great, but like i dont see this thing doing anything my triton cant. I think the best part of festool is the whole ecosystem, but its all too much money for my tastes. Im all for getting "nice" and proper tools, but festool always crosses that weird value proposition for me. Its always weird hand held tools too. That money into a sliding panel saw is just... omega lol.

Was nützt eine Festool Oberfräse, wenn ich wie ein Ochse damit arbeite.
Ich habe gelernt, die Frästiefe beträgt maximal den halben Durchmesser des Fräser.
Im Video fährt der Kerl die volle Fräsertiefe auf einmal, da nutzt auch die beste Fräse nichts.

When the wood dry out table will crack, I think there should be clearance to allow natural movement since iron is fit across the grain ..., especially if finish is natural oil...

I have one of those corner chisels but you could also take a regular chisel and square up the corners before removing the template.

Why do some insist on being inefficient? Back and forth about 75% the diameter of the bit. That is while doing the shorter cuts. I've always seen guys try to do this dance like they can't follow a straight line to save their lives...tells me that the rim of the bowl has plenty of yellow crusties all over.

Soit tu prend la hauteur du support de pied que tu rajoute à la profondeur finale ! Ou tu enlève les cales de démarcation, vu qu’il prend la planche en référence…bref la vidéo est belle mais elle ne montre pas les astuce du bricoleur ou induit en erreur !
