Exactly what I look for as a listener in a Romantic piano concerto, emotion, and intensity.

It just hit on listening again where I might have heard the final theme before: an old cartoon when they used to use classical music for some of those animations. I won't swear to it, old neurons get scrambled.

It occurs to me while listening to this Concerto (as well as other uploads on the Pierne playlist) just how much varied stylistic ground he covered as a composer. The Piano Concerto, from early on in his career, is a highly Romantic work, with attractive writing for both soloist and orchestra, which contrasts considerably with, say, Cydalise, Music Hall Impressions or Paysages Franciscains.

This piece is a hidden gem. This piece obviously had a profound influence on Rachmaninov, confirmed familiarity by the quote of 2:51 in Rach 3. If I was asked blindly who the composed this piece, I would easily say young Rach

I found this concert on June this year by accident and I was listening over and over again. Really beautiful. But not this performance. Really good technicality and tone control by pianist but there has to be more musicality and emotions in my opinion.
