Cartoons where so adult in my youth.. i never even picked up on any of this.. need to go back and dig some back up to see what other gems my numb young brain couldn't grasp
That's because when you watch this show as a kid you relate more with Pinkie and see things through his eyes. But when you watch it when you're an adult you often see it through brain's eyes.
Well shit, I had no idea Bill was ever satirized as a deep-south simpleton miserably miscast as the president of the US... before George W Bush ever was. _Repeatedly._ Was Pinky and the Brain the only show to ever do this?
+Medici Soldier Blech indeed, my friend... At least he knew how to play a great sax. That, and he's thankfully too simple to ever be as corrupt as his fucking wife.
I think that they seriously misjudged who the target audience of this show was.. My favourite line; Brain: "Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Pinky?" Pinky: "I thinks so Brain, but if they called them 'Sad Meals' the kids wouldn't buy them!"
No, it provided entertainment for the kids, but it was also made bearable for the adults to watch alongside with them. Especially since it was in the time where there was only 1 TV in the house.
Well...primarily. But most kids probably wouldn't get the majority of the jokes that were in the show, like certain pop culture references, political jokes, parodies of classic movies and literature, etc.
I'm amazed at how they managed to get away with all of this in a suposed to be kids show, yet still have a lot of ratings/audience and sucess among kids and also adults with no problems..
Says who? Did someone literally say "Let's make a show full of real life-adult figures and political/social jokes on issues, spanning on topics of world history and literature and the sciences, for kids."?
@Javier Actually, this show first aired on Prime Time, so while it was pretty family-friendly overall, and kids *could* watch it, I wouldn't say it was mainly targeted at kids. It got the most success in its Saturday morning block, though.
Because it was made with adults who have kids who wanted to watch cartoons in mind. Sit your kid down and try to watch anything on Cartoon network or nickelodeon with them in today's age. You'll find your own brain slipping away. The thing was, this was done in the time where each house had 0-1 TVs in it (whereas nowadays kids have TV's in their rooms), so it was made to entertain the kids, but adults could still have enjoyment in it as it tied up the only TV in the house.
0:59 Hillary:Perhaps your minister of finance would like to hear this. *looks over to pinky* Pinky: *head stuck in an olive* Mphhh Mmmm! Brain: He's...er..praying Hillary: Of course
Uranium 235 not 238 is used for reactor fuel and while that may seem a nye point I think that the nuclear scene here reflects the fear of nuclear power that we have on all levels of society which is really sad.
@BambiDaDeer there is no such thing as 'unenriched u-235', you have various levels of *enriched uranium* which is uranium that has been brought up to have a concentration of u-235 higher than the 0.1% naturally found, and unenriched which is its natural 0.1% concentration.
Well, the financial system is off a bit, this is why our corporation's is at a high, low for us... @4:23 its not a billion but only a 200,000,000 .... our government can't add!
so can I say random things too with no supporting evidence? Elvis is immortal! The earth is flat! Jimmy Johns is run by lobster people! Man, this is fun, I see why you do it.
1:40 John McLaughlin just died about a year ago. He was still doing that show for PBS. Eleanor Clift and Pat Buchanan were longtime guests shown on the panel there.
No, people knew about her, its just that times have changed in 25 years. Dont ask Dont Tell by the Clintons was actually considered very liberal and progressive to let gays in the military at the time.
The impression of Hillary back in the 90s was that she was more clever than her husband, and was the one who was really keeping a lot of their plans going. People used to joke that Hillary had already been president, During Bill's two terms. People didn't know much else about her, unless they were really into politics, and knew what the Clinton administration policies were like.
@@insertnamehere12 He's the stupidest president ever. Why would anyone in the government try to lower taxes as much as he does and why the hell would a politician help lower unemployment to record lows? God he's such an idiot
That you Qballs are so gullible that you really believe that kids' cartoons were fact-based? No wonder you voted for a reality TV game show host who wants to bang his biological daughter.
Interesting that they dismiss Bill as being stupid, giving him freedom to continue crime under the guise of being an accident, but they really shit on Kissinger hard. If only we were old enough to vote when we watched this cartoon.
Not popular per se, but she definitely stood out. Her push for more comprehensive health coverage for Americans and tackling of social issues made her a first lady that didn't 'stay in her own lane' like many of the previous Republican ones did. In many ways, she gained a reputation of being the brains of the marriage while Bill was the charismatic front man.
Matthew Longley According to the secret service, Bill was pretty easy going but they really couldn’t stand Hillary’s meanness while she was First Lady and Secretary of State. One of her security details Gary Byrne, wrote a book on that for 2016. In fact, Chelsea was closer to her dad than to her mom, even though her dad was having affairs. So, she might have been popular by the public but not from those who know her very well.
This wouldn't see the light of day if it were made today, all because of PC bullshit! Damn the 90s were good times except for the clintons being in the White House!
Oh sure, the '90s were so great that there's absolutely nothing of note from them that's remotely progressive. Obama bothered to throw us a few bones in between bombing raids and healthcare cabal schemes. Hell, video games were subpar to say the least and the internet was a bigger joke than it is now.
??? People have always made fun politicians in the media and always will. There's nothing pc/ not pc about that. I think it would better in cartoons these days didn't have simple jokes that grow stale as audience ages and had more well-rounded characters. Just like in the 90s and before that.

Didn't they do an episode from Pinky's perspective?

XD The fucker signed NAFTA and the Destruction Of Marriage Act. You're simpletons for believing he's one.
+Megalus Doomslayer "Destruction of Marriage Act"? Sounds like something a conservatard would say instead of a real amendment.

Not being from the US and seeing all this stuff as a kid was... eh, fun I guess? But it all makes so much more sense now.
hahahaha bill clinton's face at 2:19 after he got caught eating french fries
Pinky's answers to Brain, are u thinking what I'm thinking....are nothing but the way to life that's what my 6 yr old says and I concur!!! Lol
This show was intended for kids, right?
Creeper6464 yes
Well...primarily. But most kids probably wouldn't get the majority of the jokes that were in the show, like certain pop culture references, political jokes, parodies of classic movies and literature, etc.
Yet, they were still entertained, and that is why this show survived
Yeah, that makes sense.
I mean the concept behind the cartoon was rather... odd.
3:12 wait.... how many terms did they say elect?
In terms of politics, the show is so far ahead of its time it practically predicted the future
some of these comments are so miserable.. I loved this show
7:35 I love how they threw in a pickup truck full of watermelons, since Hope is the Watermelon capital of the Arkansas
This show was intelligent. P&B was the boondocks of it's day
I bet Frank Welker had lots of fun taking the mickey out of Clinton doing this role XD
I'm amazed at how they managed to get away with all of this in a suposed to be kids show, yet still have a lot of ratings/audience and sucess among kids and also adults with no problems..
Javier Albadalejo Why is it "supposed to be a kids show"?
Because that was the main intended audience..

DLAbaoaqu The target audience wouldn't have known that tho
You're too smart to be posting on UA-cam, but never beome too smart to watch Pinky and the Brian.

When this show aired, that wasn't known. This show, along with Animaniacs and Tiny Toons made fun of many people including politicians.
The parody that was Bill Clinton showcased here became our reality with trump...how depressing.

Bill and Hillary Clinton were practically minor supporting characters, huh?
This is why I love Animaniacs. It was equal oppression with who it made fun of. You don’t get stuff like that anymore.
"Is this Roger?"
OMG, this show was so genius.
Something tells me this is an American politics reference that I'm not getting lol I want to know :)
I believe it's a reference to Bill Clinton's brother, Roger, who had a cocaine problem.
Well no shit, Hillary Clinton negotiating Uranium stuff with a foreign maniac...
