- Daily vlog, simple daily life. New year, new workspace look. Decided to update the space above my desk for the new year. Removed the grid that I've been using and put up the IKEA SKÅDIS pegboard system. I got the bigger size 75 x 50cm SKÅDIS pegboard in white. It was actually out of stock in all the IKEA. So in the end, I bought a used one off Carousell for only $5. A new one would have cost me $40. It has some scratches and stains on it but not too obvious. I'm not fussy about that as long as it's not too glaring. Used 3M Command velcro strips to install the pegboard instead of drilling a nail into the wall. First, I don't have the tools to do that and it's so messy to clean up after that. 3M velcro strips have proved to be very strong so I decided to try that. I put up to 6 strips to ensure that it could hold up the weight of the pegboard and more (all the SKÅDIS accessories that I'm going to hang on the board). The SKÅDIS accessories were also mostly out of stocks in IKEA so I ended up getting some imitations accessories from Taobao. Managed to get some clips, shelves and container and hooks. Thankfully they fit.
Had a mini Taobao unboxing where I got myself a new water bottle and more 2022 calendars. Plus all the pegboard accessories. Decorated the pegboard somewhat. Going for a cleaner look this year.
Returned to the office on Thursday as our bosses invited us back for the King Cake tradition. I've never knew that but apparently there's some trinket in the cake and whoever gets it would be crowned King or something like that. We had 2 cakes so 2 colleagues were crowned queen. Everyone cheered for them because the queens have to "serve" their subjects (rest of us). It was a short but fun trip back to the office and meeting colleagues whom I've not seen before.

Note: To anyone else using command strips, the first step is to clean the wall with rubbing alcohol then after attaching the board, the next step is to actually to take the board off and let the strips on the wall bond for at least an hour then re-attach the board.

You should definitely consider drilling to mount the peg board. The 3m tape probably can hold the weight but it's the paint on your wall that will give way.
Nope, 3M tapes can be removed easily without stain. 😊
@@eueuandbunny What I meant was the paint will not be able to hold the weight of the peg board over time. I have had many things fall off the wall both light and heavy with the 3M tape still attached to the hook and the paint attached on the other side of the hook.

The pegboard with the command strip... does it provide enough space at the back of pegboard? So that the accessories got space to hang on it..? Will it cause issue?
It’s been fine so far since I out it up. Still holding up well with all the accessories and other stuff that I hanged or put on it.

I went to all 3 Ikea stores over the past one month to get the peg board and it’s sold out 😭. I went all the way to JEM cos the Ikea app said it’s available but it wasn’t. Should have just gotten the wood colour one at Alexandra. You are so lucky to score a 2nd hand one for $5!
I went to Alexandra but only got the smaller one, the wooden one wasn’t available when I was there. I also went all the way to JEM and returned empty handed because the app said it was available! So frustrating! 😖
@@eueuandbunny The wooden colour big one was available when I went but it wouldn’t match the room so I didn’t buy cos I was misled that JEM had stock. Now regret big time. I complained to the JEM staff 😝 and was told the app stock not up to date. Like that how!!! Glad you found one and your arrangement looks good. Would the hook be better for the calendar?
