Yaeonku 7 in1 External CD DVD Drive with 4 USB Ports and TF/SD Card Slots,USB 3.0 Portable CD/DVD Disk Drive Player Burner Reader Writer for Laptop MacBook Desktop PC Windows 11/10/8/7 Linux Mac OS
I tested this optical drive / USB Hub / Card reader device on a laptop running Ubuntu Linux and it worked perfectly out of the box without needing any drivers or configuration. I could power it directly via the USB-C (or USB-A) port on my laptop, and I did not need to use the included extra 5 volt USB-A to micro-usb power cable.
It read a DVD at 4x speeds, burnt a DVD-R at 3x speeds, accessed a USB-Drive, and accessed both a Micro SD card and a SD card (but not at the same time) correctly.
While the read/write speeds are not amazingly fast, it worked perfectly and the price is very reasonable if you need to access optical disks or SD cards occasionally. I especially appreciate the fact that the combo USB-C / USB-A cable folds up and stows in the base of the device.

Excellent. I need an external CD/DVD drive since they've disappeared from laptops.

My understanding is that windows 11 does not come with the MPEG2 decoding (codec) that is needed to view DVD videos. (If you insert a data DVD, you can probably read the data just fine, but not play DVD videos.). Look for the MPEG2 codec so the Windows Media Player will play DVD's from the windows store. apps.microsoft.com/detail/9n95q1zzpmh4?ocid=webpdpshare
Alternatively I would suggest installing the free VLC video player to see if that fixes the issue (by installing a mpeg2 codec).

@@Magma52717 Windows 11 does not come with the software needed to pay DVD Videos (MPEG-2 Codec). You either need to buy it (MPEG-2 Codec) from the windows store, or install other software that includes it (VLC video player).

@@outdoorsinnewzealand It will read the data on DVD disks. As long as your computer and software supports running the games it should work.
