    You are out of your mind. Some of those look like toys or 20th generation molds being used. Your criteria for this list needs to be overhauled. You also liked a fluorescent dino? Really. Lost credibility..

    I've noticed a trend where deinocheirus is always depicted the most accurate in whatever it's competing against. I suspect it's because it looks so weird that the people making them have no choice but to depict it based on how it actually looks rather than just making it look like a glorified modern day animal or another dinosaur

    • @theimmortaleye7511
      @theimmortaleye7511 Рік тому +3

      Plus its a quite modern animal in terms of reconstruction , they used to just make it a therizino copycat, but once the missing hat was discovered its basicly impossible to avoid modern reconstruction. Makes me Wonder and fear if therizinosaurus looks more.like a deinocheirus than others of its kind.

      i think its because the true bodyshape was discovered more recently than other dinosaurs but also not too recently that companies could not keep up with the restoration

    • @catpoke9557
      @catpoke9557 Рік тому +2

      @@firegator6853 Yup. Unlike other dinosaurs, when people imagine deinocheirus, they imagine the actual deinocheirus because we only had about one, short-lived iteration in which it was inaccurate. And that iteration was just a copy of therizinosaurus, so people wouldn't be reluctant to give that up since it gets to be a whole new dinosaur now which is awesome.

    yep as a mainly pnso collector i have to say this year im very satisfied from them recently i also got the suchomimus and i want to say that I LOVE that they brought back the brown wash they used on their other incredible figure their tarbosaurus it gives a very realistic and natural dirty vibe i wish i use it in a lot in their future scaly species

    Man you need to give pnso a list of their own, it’s just strange seeing collecta and safari ltd figures ranked higher over pnso figures just because we need variety in the list.

    In terms of beauty, i've gotta agree on deinocheirus being a solid nº1... But i got myself one and the second day, despite the help of the plastic rod, it just fell down the shelf and got some paint scruffs: the weight and proportions make it unstable. That's one of the most desperating problems to experience with a figure, and definitely not what you want to pay 60€ for. My personal nº1 has to be torosaurus, a perfectly stable model and as beautiful as any other i can think of.

    My Ancestors E. Annectens came with the head broken off near the neck. I spent $95 on it and they gave me $17 back(took over 30 days) and told me to super glue it. I can't make this up. It still sits here broken. The material was still wet on the inside too. I will never ever buy from Ancestors again.

      @Killershrewfan  Рік тому

      Mine also arrived with the head all but broken off but I did manage to get him back in one piece fairly easily (just has a battle scar now) The box was pretty torn up so I’m guessing customs was not as careful as they should have been when handling the package or examining the contents. Of the folks I’ve seen get this figure (or anything from Ancestors), you’re the only other person to mention damage so I thought I just had some bad luck. I guess I’ll have to keep my ear to the ground going forward!

    Honestly think I even prefer rebors kiss over the beasts of the mesozoic rexes. The paint job looks better on the rebor one, not to mention the beasts of the mesozoic figure is marketed as an action figure and not a display model, and has an awkward static looking pose in all of the images I've seen

  • @dragon-ly2xf
    @dragon-ly2xf Рік тому +1

    For the PNSO Acrocanthosaurus, I wish PNSO had used the darker paint scheme and more aggressive stance in the literature that came with the figure.

    • @paleostories_7839
      @paleostories_7839 Рік тому +1

      I personally don’t see anything wrong with both the paint and pose, the coloration makes sense with the environment the cloverly formation was with the sandy undertones and a bit of vibrancy with reddish brown areas..as the cloverly formation was a semi arid floodplain. i (personally) also don’t mind the pose since i like the idea of a certain animal just naturally living its life instead of just constantly fighting as you see in popular media, I’m sure the articulated jaws will do it justice though. Thats not to say i do think the typical walking pose is overused with there theropods.

    • @firegator6853
      @firegator6853 Рік тому

      i like the calm walking poses they use but i agree we could get some variety in them...not too crazy though like papo or something these are big animals and obviously got some limited range of movement, but in general i dont mind the poses

    Just wish more of these figures had lips. Well, except the spinosaurids. There's good reason to believe they were partially or fully lipless so either reconstruction (lipped or lipless) is valid

    • @theimmortaleye7511
      @theimmortaleye7511 Рік тому +1

      Theres more than enough argument for lipless aswell , its a superhot topic currently and makes sense many stay more conservative on reconstructions.
      Ironicly ceratopsian face the opposite issue where theire more likely "lipless" yet most keep the weird connection lip to the beak with few complaining

    • @catpoke9557
      @catpoke9557 Рік тому

      @@theimmortaleye7511 I've only seen 2 arguments for liplessness and they were both pretty weak to say the least. Main argument I see is this one study that has multiple flaws in logic, and second thing I see is "Well crocodiles don't have lips" while ignoring that they're so distant it's not a very good comparison and thus actual physical evidence on the fossils is a much better way of determining if they do, or do not, have lips. And the fossils resemble lipped animals MUCH better than lipless ones. With the exception of, again, spinosaurids which may actually be lipless. I personally think the front of their face was lipless and the back had lips.
      As for ceratopsians, I haven't looked into it so I'm not sure, but my default assumption with most dinosaurs is that they had lips due to it seeming to be ancestral to tetrapods plus the fact that borealopelta seems to have preserved lips based on what I've seen.

    • @theimmortaleye7511
      @theimmortaleye7511 Рік тому +1

      @@catpoke9557
      There is a few arguments , note im on the fence aswell but some of these atleast seem reasonable to consider. For theropods atleast , ceratopsian almost certainly did not have any true lips overall. Saying they look like it is weak argument aswell , since i can say to me they dont and were at point 0.
      Theropods as archosaurs first off have no evidence of having lips in terms of comparative phylogony. Neither birds or crocs as extant archeosaur preserve any evidence of having had a liplike structure, so by necessaty the default is no lips due to the entire family lacking evidence.
      Ofc the croc example and their skin comes to mind, allthough i admit that ones weak in itself, that said spinosauridae again evolved a close to 1:1 to crocs seemingly fast suggesting low distinction between the familys.its more likely theropods lack lips than if they evolved and deevolved them for spinosauridae
      Thirdly and quite complexly there are scrap and lovetap bites similar to how crocs greet and fight each other as evidence on many theropods. Having lips would make such a behavior incredible damaging to their faces and require extreme regenaration of the tissue
      Lastly almost any theropod has
      " sockets" for the lower teeth to rest in unlike any lipped animal making it useless to hold a lip there, and the mass of teeth found by dinosaurs similar to crocs suggest they didnt value protecting them too much.
      On ceratopsians to evolve any true lip would take massive Evolutionary hoops that just dont make much sense since the only point of "holding food for their beak" is disproven by parrots and similar birds to be unnecessary, so the gum tissue lip like pnso did with doyle is more likely. That couplles with the amount of keratinisation found in the beak region makes lips unlikely than just closing the beak like a knife.

      @@Killershrewfan
      It doesn’t mean that the figure itself isn’t good. It merely means that you couldn’t possibly say that it is one of the most accurate figures, or even have it in the honourable mentions to the video that is specifically based on that, since the figure is based on the sparsest of remains as far as I know. Same goes with zhuchengtyranus that’s already in your list 😅

    • @Killershrewfan
      @Killershrewfan  Рік тому +3

      @@greekfire7980 perhaps the title of this video is a bit of a mislead then since this countdown is meant to be more about the quality of the work behind a scientifically focused figure as opposed to the level of accuracy itself. I’ll agree that making an “accurate”figure based off of scant remains is a thorny game at best and a fool’s errand at worst, but if the final product feels believable in its presentation with a strong technical execution, I’d say it’s still worth a mention here.
      That said, if you think only animals with good remains should qualify, I’d go ahead and shuffle in the Acrocanthosaurus in place of the Zuchengtyrannus!

    • @firegator6853
      @firegator6853 Рік тому +1

      @@greekfire7980 at least its not completely made up, it follows the spinosaurine anatomy and is based from other species too, dinosdragons review goes into more detail about it
      and for zuchenghtyrannus its also true but at least it got more remains so a more close restoration of the head is possible, bodywise tyrannosaurids got very similar shape so i wouldnt say its too concerning for people like me who try to get accurate figures in the collection
      to be honest i do want that sinopliosaurus even if the whole body is basically using speculation only for the variety in my collection and to show a message that many species out there are very fragmentary, others never discovered and no one knows if we will ever find more remains of the very fragmentary ones
      *also damn didnt expect to see a fellow greek here who is interested in paleo stuff and figures like me*
