When I first started using them you had 1 color choice Black LOL. At least in the Uni-Ball Impact pens....now they have Gold, silver and white, none of which work in a workplace LOL. Shortly after I started using them they did release them in Blue and Black...they had a 1.0mm broad point, wrote very smooth, and certainly left an impact, they were bold and easy to read, but if you were trying to write anything on paper with narrowly spaced lines good luck, those things were way too bold for any precision type work, they wrote good, and had an easy to read ink but for an office they didn't work quite as well as the .7mm and .5mm Uni-Ball Signo gel stick pens that are more common.
@@HieroOnymos Its the same pen with different name. Pilot Malaysia says the hi tec c is for 0.5 version and other size is g tec. Some says its regional name
My favourite gel pen of all that I've tried is the Pilot G-2 05. The ink dries pretty quickly, writing is smooth and it holds up to highlighters. The colour range is not huge tho, but the price is good!
I still love G2s! There are tons of other great gel options, but the Pilot G2 is just such a great all-rounder, cheap, and widely available. They've never let me down.
@Light I had the same experience with the 0.5mm as well, I tried a 0.38mm once that was awful, almost paper-cutting thin so the 0.7mm is my go-to and the 1.0mm occasionally as well but usually too bold for general use, but the 1.0mm works fine for signing documents though. The G2's are great pens I agree.
Yeah me too but except. it's Scratchy and 0.5 became 0.1 because i saw a dirty one in clean place to place pens in A&H araimi boulevard So i just buy the energel one but they look the SAME?!
My faves gel pens: Pilot Hi Tec C (for bullet journaling) Pilot Prixion (to do list) Pilot Hi Tec C Coleto (for color coding) Zebra Mark On (for notes)
The Signo UM-151 is definitely my favorite to write, but I'd love to use it in a more "premium" format. It's obviously a capped design, so I'd love to see a metal body with a good cap that can be posted and will take a UM-151 filling.
as a student and a stationary enthusiast I prefer the pentel energel since it also dries right away. Beforehand, I used the zebra sarasa one, but it smudged when I used mildliners lel. oh , I'm not a leftie :)
1:04 As a leftie that loves drawing and writing, sometimes I get sad when I accidentally make a mess with the ink. That doesn't stop me from using fountain and gel pens, but I'll never be able to experience some things properly
Aaliyah White I’m a leftie and I prefer to write in cursive which I use ballpoint pens for (for 4 years now) However when writing “normally” I use gel pens. I’ve been practicing my over summer bc it’s trash. 😆 I hope this helps my fellow lefties. ✌🏽
I’m left handed, and I just hate it when I write with a pen only getting to see it smear on my paper as well as my own hand. I once bought some basic stationary when I was just getting into the stationary concept, and I got a smearing pen like most other basic pens! I really wanted to give up on stationary at that time because, if I can’t make good notes why try anyway? But now, a few weeks later; JetPens saved my stationary hobby! Thank you so much JetPens! I'm going to get a basic Sarasa Dry 0.5 mm and see how it turns out. Again, thank you!
The Uniball Signo Dx UM-151 0.28mm. It’s the only pen clear enough, smooth enough, and small enough for me to read my own notes well. I lovingly refer to it as “the pen that got me through college”. I mostly see 0.38mm’s for sale these days; I don’t know if the 0.28’s are discontinued…but there are still some around! including from you guys! I just got some and I’m so happy. Thank you so much!!
I only have Uni-ball Signo series gel pens, I got the basic Uni-ball Signo DX, Signo Needle, Signo RT and Signo 307. I still prefer to the Signo 307 by replaced its refill to UMR-83 0.38mm, blue black ink. Very smooth and comfortable for handwriting. The ink is clean and balance, unlike the traditional ballpoint pens.
It’s sad seeing how many people hype up the Pentel Energel. I bought a pack of two at Target and was so excited to write with it but both kept skipping and the barrel popped open when I was writing. Really looking for a good pen for bullet journaling, thank you for this video
Thank you so much for making this video. Love the size&color charts provided. Had to kinda figure this out on my own quest but even before y'all made this video...your website, filters, and previous videos provided were enough to sort through your catalog of info..New buyers have the luxury of having it all in once place. kudos!
I'm a major Uni-Ball Signo fangirl, because of how readily available they are, but now I have a .25 Hi-Tec Coleto and a gray Sarasa Clip and I'm in love! Definitely my top three picks!
I tried the uniball uni click gel pen two years back, and I haven't even tried any other pen since then! And the best part is that the price is only RS 50! Do try it.
This ^ The Juice Up combines so many positive aspects of all these. It's a clicker, is fine-tip but still robust. And has a beautiful look to the body.
Journaling Mygeeklife one of my favorite gel pens! The blue - black in. .3 or .4 mm size point is the sweet spot. And the clip is massively impressive. It is extremely sturdy and will clip the pen securely anywhere!
Pentel Energel XM Pure. Beautiful looking, fast drying, smooth writing pen that looks so great it gets compliments. If I give a little go of it to someone at work, the say how great it is, probably hoping we have a few stored away and we'll give them one but we don't. I only bought three and gave 2 to friends.
The UM151 is the absolute best pen I've used. i have a set of 10 black ones on my work desk and I currently have the 20 colour set in my jetpens cart lol
the mark on is my absolute favourite. i bought it to try when it first came out and didnt have have any reviews yet, but to my surprise its the best pen ive ever used for my notes. and i dont think i can live without it now
my pilot hi-tech-c gel pen broke after a while of using it. also, thickness was very inconsistent throughout my use. idk, that was my experience with it, i liked uniball signo UM-151 a lot tho.
If I had to chose only one model of pen to use for the rest of my life, it'd be the Zebra Sarasa Push Clip. I can accept the judgment that the UM-151 has a (marginally) better cartridge, but the Sarasa has the best grip and best clip of any pen, and an incredible variety of sizes and colors.
Out of these I have the Energel in 0.7, it was recommended because I'm left-handed, and so far I'm really liking it. Also looking forward to trying the Hi-Tec-C sometime, maybe even the Coleto because it reminds me of a grown-up version of my childhood Bic 4-color pen :) Finally I love the way you say "Sarasa" :)
Try the Pilot G2, its been a go-to pen of mine for over 14 years, they work great, write smooth (0.7mm or 1.0mm), and generally are highlighter friendly. The 0.38mm and the 0.5mm seemed too fine for me, but I have a heavy hand so the 0.7mm is a great alternative for a smoother writing experience for me. The Pilot B2P is another option which is the G2 pen cartridge in a recycled water bottle case. The Pilot Precise V5 and V7 liquid rollerball pens are great too...the V5 is a 0.5mm and the V7 is a 0.7mm tip. Both write great depending on which line width you prefer. I've used the Pilot FriXion pens and have mixed feelings, they write great but they are NOT something to write important documents with as the ink can/will fade and disappear over time and if exposed to heat the ink completely disappears. Its a great pen for quick notes that are non-essential, but don't try to write any business type documents that you need to have forever with them you'll find your writings have disappeared after a period of years, and some have said the ink will start to yellow after a while too.
one thing I found with the Uniball at least years ago in high school was that as it reached the end of it's cycle, i'd have like maybe 3/8's of visible ink left but it would just start to die/not write at all
Trapped paper fibers in the cone. Happened to me when I use cheap notebook. But I can go through the end of the refill after I changed my notebook to Kokuyo and Apica.
My first Gel Pen was a Uni-Ball Signo Gel Impact Gel Pen which was the Black 1.0mm. Loved those pens, although relatively expensive at the time. They don't make them anymore obviously, just in white, silver, and looks like gold. I assume the new version is called the Uni-Ball Signo Broad UM-153 1.0mm Gel Pens. My only complaint is they tend to start skipping and not writing any longer if they aren't kept with the nib/tip down, at least that was my experience. So carrying them in a shirt pocket was out of the question, and even leaving them stored horizontally in a desk drawer gave very mixed results. During my time in the Army I used the Pilot G2 Gel Pens for 12 years, and still use them occasionally. They seemed pretty reliable at least in the standard Army pen color of Black LOL. The G2's at the time were common with a .7mm tip and seemed to write quite smooth for a rollerball that up until a train-up for a deployment had never used a rollerball extensively before just the old Pentel Rolling Writer R100's that my shop teacher used a lot back then. I started using the Paper Mate Inkjoy Gel Pens recently and they seem to work very well. Very smooth writing pens with a .7mm tip.
i wish you could combine categories. what if i want a pen that dries quickly, doesn't skip, doesn't fade, is good for journaling and notetaking, and is erasable?
Forgive me but I'm not sure what the difference is between pens used for writing, journaling, and note-taking. Wouldn't a pen that is good for one of these also be good for the other? Also, what is the trade-off in using the best quick-drying pen? Why isn't this one also the best for note-taking or journaling? Is smearing acceptable in these applications? Thanks for any insight.
My choice: Pentel Energel Needle Tip 0.5 (for writing notes because they dry quickly and don't smudge when using highlighter, but they are not waterproof). Runner up: Sarasa Mark On 0.4/0.5 --> dry quick, doesn't smear/smudge, and are waterproof, but they are skippy and scratchy. Uni-ball signo UM-151 0.38 (for journaling because they are precise and do not feather like other gel pens. They are also waterproof, but they take a longer time to dry). Runner up: Sarasa clip --> They dry fast compared too uni-ball signo and are waterproof too, but they feather on a paper. I mainly use Sarasa because they are widely available and cheaper as well. To prevent feathering on a paper, it helps to write on smooth paper. Sarasa clip 1.0/ Uni-ball signo broad (for writing to-do list and signing legal documents. They have nice bold black ink, and waterproof. Perfect to write a reminder.
honestly speaking, i live in india, and you can find really cheap and high quality pens here. like, i’m talking seven gel pens for approximately a us dollar that don’t skip, don’t smudge, barely fade and will last you for two months, easy, if you’re a student
I'm one of those people that HATES the uniball signo. I dunno if mine was a dupe, but mine skips and acts like an almost-running-out ball pen. Jet-pens, can you please tell me if mine could be a dupe? It says FINE at the top instead of the tip size, maybe that could be a clue?!
I love using my frixion for note taking! Whenever i made a mistake i just erase it. It made my note prettier since I don’t have to use correction tape as much as i used to!
Honestly, this video is great but it would have been greater if JetPens included Paper Mate in the list of top gel pens. I do think Paper Mate also has lots of good gel pens just like Zebra, Pilot, and Pentel. Still, this video is remarkable.
I like the Papermate Inkjoy Gel pens, they seem to write very smooth, I haven't had much experience with them yet, I've had limited use of a couple and have not done much testing and I'm not certain how they do when highlighting over text with them either.
Energel Needle and Signo 207 for me. If you get a great G-7, then they are awesome although they smear a bit, but I have had so many bad ones I go back to Pentel and Uni.
Although I love uniball's ink pens, their signo white gel pen never worked for me. It skipped, dried out ect. I had to throw it out. I was surprised to see so many people recommend them/or have the pens work which is why I bough it in the first place lol. I switched to touchnew's gel pen and it worked perfectly for me.

307 is what I go back and forth with when picking a gel #1 (Sarasa Grand Gel is the other)
Pilot Hi Tec C is the absolute best fine point pen there is. The 0.4 mm writes smoother and more precise than the 0.38 Signo DX.
Agreed. The Pilot Juice Up is great too. Sort of a hybrid but keeps the precision of a fine point.
Yes!! Best needle point ever!

Uni-ball Signo UM-151 and Pentel EnerGels are my two go to gel pens.
Anyway, what's the comparison between Pilot Hi-Tec-C and Pilot G-Tec-C pens? They're look same, I think.
Yes, the Pilot Hi-Tec-C and G-Tec-C are the same. The G-Tec-C is the international name for the gel pen.
@@JetPens Oh, I see. Thanks!
My recommendation guys is signo needle .38 and signo umr 151 .38
honestly speaking, i live in india, and you can find really cheap and high quality pens here. like, i’m talking seven gel pens for approximately a us dollar that don’t skip, don’t smudge, barely fade and will last you for two months, easy, if you’re a student
What brand?
The brand is : "Scam"
I'm one of those people that HATES the uniball signo. I dunno if mine was a dupe, but mine skips and acts like an almost-running-out ball pen. Jet-pens, can you please tell me if mine could be a dupe? It says FINE at the top instead of the tip size, maybe that could be a clue?!
FINALLY THE GEL PENS
It’s 5am, I have an 8am in a few hours. What the actual fuck am I doing at this point
For my liking my favorite gel pen
Is en-gel k-35 and pilot g-3
I love using my frixion for note taking! Whenever i made a mistake i just erase it. It made my note prettier since I don’t have to use correction tape as much as i used to!
you have to be careful though!!!! My notes have gotten erased because of being carried around in a backpack in a really hot (think 40deg celsius) city
Just store in your home fridge freezer. The ink will be visible again.
I use Pentel Energel 0.7 [black ink].....best pen I've ever used
Fav Pen Pilot G2
what's the difference between the zebra sarasa dry compared to the zebra sarasa mark on?
What's the white one you're using? It looks so neat and bold.
I used to have the uno ball signo 207 premier but I lost it at school
How about Mitsubishi Pencil Uni-ball eye fine?
Uni-ball Signo UM-151/120 the best !!!!!
Super surprised not seeing the Ohto Ray's on this list!
Energel Needle and Signo 207 for me. If you get a great G-7, then they are awesome although they smear a bit, but I have had so many bad ones I go back to Pentel and Uni.
My preference is uni ball click gel great grip very smooth and cost friendly
I would like to know if these pens write on fabric, as well. Ty for this tutorial 💕🌟
Hi there! These pens don't write too well on fabric, we recommend the Sakura My Name Marker for that: www.jetpens.com/Sakura-My-Name-Markers/ct/2470
JetPens ok, ty
tried ordering from jet pens not available in my country
Although I love uniball's ink pens, their signo white gel pen never worked for me. It skipped, dried out ect. I had to throw it out. I was surprised to see so many people recommend them/or have the pens work which is why I bough it in the first place lol. I switched to touchnew's gel pen and it worked perfectly for me.
