Thanks for watching and your comment. It will be even nicer when it’s done fore sure. Very lucky to have been able to find it in the shape it’s in now.
Oh I’m so happy to hear your leaving the patina!! Cool channel! I have a 58 convertible and I plan on doing what you are doing. Just fix the rust and sort it out.
i have a 68 ghia convertable do you need to weld doors or weld supports so when taking body off from pan? when you removed bug body did you weld any supports?
I have a 65 vert. I plan to do the same thing to. How did you strip the red paint without messing up the OG paint? I would to try that on my bug. Also many people weld in bracing on verts to prevent body twisting. Maybe you are ok cuz you left the doors on? Anyways good luck. I’ll be watching to prep myself for when it’s time to do my vert. Gotta finish my bus first. 😁
I used acetone, brake cleaner and laquer thinner with steel wool. Click on the playlist for this car and have have several visors of it. Yes this car has no flex at all and I’m sure leaving the doors on helped as well as it resting on the support rails instead of a rotisserie style on both ends.
Make the best of what is there and ENJOY the rest.... It will not lose value. Been there..... and still there..... everyone still wants to buy it...... not yet.. I keep telling them. You'll know when you are DONE
I hear you. I’ve been doing this for a long time. Some cars are easier to just whatever to than others. It’s gonna be sweet when it’s done and a lotta fun. Thanks for the input!
My convertible beetle was so fun to drive and in the pouring down rain it was an extra special adventure.

It's nice enough to keep it as is, just preserve it for the next 60 jears, there's plenty of restored bugs out there already.
My thoughts as well. I feel like they loose their character when they are fully restored.
Ya I would just replace all rubber your floor pans and detail the suspension get it running new top and apolstry and make it drivable anywhere..
Yeah that’s basically the plan. Chassis will be fully detailed . Body patina style but the rest just nice.
Clean it up and leave it as is. I would restore the pan though.
